Feast Your Eyes on the China Glaze Eye Candy Collection

November 17th, 2011 by Karen 25 Comments

Oops! I just misspelled my Google search term. I meant to type “YouTube kittens,” but I accidentally typed “Ryan Gosling abs.”

Don’t you hate it when that happens? 🙂

The Internet can be so distracting. It’s easy to get so busy Googling important things like Ryan’s abs that you miss the really important stuff, like all of the glittery nail polishes appearing this season.

The stuff’s been showing up everywhere! — but after a certain point, it all starts to blend together, like house music at a three-day rave (duh-chuh-duh-chuh-duh-chuh!).

No worries. Eye Candy, the latest collection from China Glaze, can simplify the process of finding a glitter polish that’s both flashy and classy. The six-piece collection was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and utilizes a special variety of glitter called GLITTER (in all caps).

GLITTER is basically exactly like glitter, only sparklier, and because of it these polishes sport so much sparkle that they look like they’re about to explode! But at the same time, they’re bright, light, and to me don’t seem garish.

NOTE: There’s really no such thing as GLITTER. I just made it up.

China Glaze says that the “innovative glitter technology” they cooked up for these creates a “3-D effect.”

That’s marketing-speak for “these polishes are flashy and all up in your grill!” With that said, they might not appeal to ladies on a strict mani/pedi diet of Essie Ballet Slippers.

All six Eye Candy shades showcase glitter in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors in a clear formula. My favorite? — flashy Marry a Millionaire, which sets thin, confetti-like strips in green and teal against a backdrop of purple micro-glitter.

Hot, hot, hot!

I swatched Millionaire and its siblings this afternoon using two layers, and without a base or top coat.

The China Glaze Eye Candy Collection…

  • Love Marilyn — Vivacious red with shimmering silver particles
  • Blonde Bombshell — Glistening multidimensional flecks of gold
  • Lorelei’s Tiara — Sterling silver infused with blue sprinkles
  • Material Girl — Posh pink with holographic bubblegum glitter
  • Some Like It Haute — Graphite gray with holographic glitter
  • Marry A Millionaire — Alluring amethyst with multi-tonal fibers

I love how unusual, fun and festive these are.

“Bravo, China Glaze!” I think the brand managed to make glitter interesting and tasteful at the very same time.

PRICE: About $6 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to salons and beauty supply stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

Today reader Mikki from Canada informed me that the people at People have apparently lost their minds. The magazine recently crowned actor Bradley Cooper the “Sexiest Man Alive.”

What the what…?

I get that he’s kindasorta cute when he speaks en français, but c’mon, now. RyGos was robbed! 🙂

Demand a recount!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Such pretty sparkles! If I ever do my nails (I’m lazy and don’t do them often) I definitely like to do something a little outside the box like these!

When I saw the People mag on the stand my first thought was than RYAN WAS ROBBED! lol
Seriously I could watch that boy all the time. 😀

I’ve already ordered 4 of these (not the red and gold ones since I got the red and gold from the holiday collection), but nice to see swatches and know that I’ve made a good choice. 🙂 Thx.

I really like Marry a Millionaire. I’m in love with glitter/sparkle anything. Because all the nail polish companies keep coming out with glitter polishes, I decided to only purchase the ones that really catch my eye or are unique. I think this one qualifies…

Wow those really deliver on the glitter in just two coats, that’s solid discoball glitter! I think my faves are Haute and Material Girl, bug I think they all have major New Years Eve party potential!
