Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara Review

December 13th, 2007 by Karen 22 Comments

I’ve been crushing pretty hard on MAC Plush Lash for the past few months, but it looks like there’s a new love in town, Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara ($20).

elizabeth-arden-ceramide-mascara

Ooh, shiny!
I have this in black, and the best thing about it is the finish. It’s a deep, inky black that gives my lashes gloss and shine.

Hey fatty!
I like a big lash look, but on me it takes some work ’cause my natural lashes are just plain jane average, both in terms of length and thickness.

A single coat of Ceramide mascara thickens my lashes without leaving them looking fake or unnatural, and two coats produces long, fat, defined, party-like-a-rockstar lashes.

Curly girlie!
Another issue I have with my lashes is that they’re stick straight (BOO), so I need a mascara that holds the curl I get from my lash curler. Ceramide mascara holds the curl all day (and night) long, giving me a wide-eyed look ’til the wee hours.

Rawk on!
But wait, there’s more! To top all this gloriousness off, Ceramide doesn’t flake, keeps my lashes soft and doesn’t leave smudge marks, either.

And it’s good for you, too!
Ceramide mascara has a bunch of superstar stuff in it to condition and revitalize your lashes like:
– Ceramide Triple Complex (Ceramides 1, 3 and 6) plus Vitamins A, C and E to help reinforce and restore lashes’ natural protective barrier
– Keravis, a conditioning ingredient known to help strengthen and fortify lashes

If I had a wish…
I’d made this more easily accessible. None of the department stores at my nearby mall carry Elizabeth Arden, so I have to order it online, and while the brush is easy to use, I wish it were a little fatter like the MAC Plush Lash brush.

Celebrate good times, COME ON!

Friday is that much closer, ya’ll. Are you ready?

Tomorrow I’m busting out the Christmas decorations, doing some blogging and hopefully finishing my Christmas shopping. Why is it so hard to shop for boys? ARGH!

Anyway, I hope your day was swell and that you’re feeling good. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ooo, now I’m really excited. I just put this on my “to-try” list a little while back, but was a bit hesitant since I haven’t loved the Elizabeth Arden products I’ve used in the past.

Now I’ll definately have to try once my Plush Lash runs out.

Thanks for the review, girl. I promise though, every time I read your positive reviews I hear little “cha-ching’s” in my head.

Oh, quick question – how would you say this compares to DiorShow?

That being said, which would you recommend? I’ve been on the fence about these two mascaras and my christmas budget will only allow me one! So which do you prefer?

Whoa! I am sold! Are there really no Elizabeth Arden counters around here? I hate buying something before actually trying it! Oh, one more thing, does it run easily or is it kind of water resistant (Diorshow is not my absolute fave, but it is the most water-resistant non-waterproof mascara I’ve encountered).

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, tomorrow is our big anniversary date! I am floating a foot off the ground! 😀

Don’t worry, I have already added this product to my christmas list! You should also know that I just bought the new Elizabeth Arden Maximum Coverage Concealer and it is so so so nice! If you are asking for the mascara, I highly suggest you add the concealer also to your list as well. Best concealer I have tried this year!

Thanks for the heads up on the mascara. So psyched to give it a try!

    Hi Tuprnut,

I think Ceramide mascara glossier than Diorshow. I know that for some people flaking is an issue with Diorshow but I haven’t had that experience with either mascara. I have a weird psychological barrier with Diorshow because it’s $23.00; I know that Ceramide really isn’t that much cheaper but for some reason I feel like $20.00 is more of a deal, ha!

I do wish that Ceramide had the fatty Diorshow brush, though, sigh.

    Hi Yaya,

I like both but I like Ceramide just a touch more, because it thickens better than Plush Lash. I like the finish, too. It’s a very glossy black on me.

But, if you are on a budget then I can still recommend the Plush Lash, because for $14.00 it’s a great performer for the price. You can make it look very natural with one coat or build it up to two or even three coats for a dramatic look. I hope this helps. Feel free to hit me up with any more questions if you’re still on the fence between the two. 🙂

    Hi Glosslizard,

Yeah, I know they used to sell Elizabeth Arden at Macy’s but I can’t find it there anymore (no Biotherm, either, wtf?). I looked at the EA Web site and on my Ceramide package, and neither expressly says that the mascara is waterproof. I haven’t teared or cried or walked around in the rain with it on yet so I can’t really say how it holds up. However, I think it’s still faboo. I have quite a bit of mascaras around and now this is my fave because it really fattens up the lashes.

Congrats on your anniversary again and have a wonderful time on your date. It’s going to be a romantical night for you two, how exciting. You are gonna look smokin’, lady! 🙂

    Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t tried the Maximum Coverage concealer yet but now will put that on my list. I’ve been using MAC Selectmoisture for the past few months and I recently bought a new tube and it kinda sucks (I think they might’ve reformulated it, BOO!).

Are you an Elizabeth Arden cosmetics fan? What else do you recommend?

    Happy Friday 🙂

Oooh, sounds de-lash-ious. Ok, that was dumb, lol. I’d love to see you post pictures of this in use. Between finding that one HG mascara and a foundation that works, the journey continues for me…

I just starting using Arden a year or so ago because my makeup artist friend swears by them. They are so great! Right now I am loving the Bronzing Duo (it is not too orange and not too brown) and the Ceramide Lipstick (feels so nice on the lips!)

Ha Mrs. Lynne, I loves me a good pun 🙂

I agree, the mascara and the foundation quest take a long time to work out…it might be a lifelong thing, unfortch.

I have tried the DiorShow, DiorShow 360, bad gal lash from benefit, too faced lash injection, the ELIZABETH ARDEN ceramide, and my favorite out of all of these would have to be voluminuos million lashes thats in the gold tube by loreal. Absoloutely amazing, lashes never clump (even if you put on 4 coats) they stay soft, NEVER flake, and who could beat it for 9 bucks?
