Dior Style Liner in Argent Silver, AKA Glitter Liquid Liner for Dummies

December 26th, 2008 by Karen 23 Comments

Add Dior Style Liner to the ranks of the GOOD GLITTERS. The small size of the flakes and softness of the their texture keeps this silver liquid liner (soo pretty!) from looking too eighth grade dance. It’s the easiest liquid liner I’ve ever used!

Because 1) I’m 33 and 2) very clumsy, I don’t wear many glittery liquid eyeliners. They can be recipes for disaster!

Most liquid liner formulas, particularly ones with glitter in them, tend to run and get all over the place. I call it the glitter conundrum; it seems like when beauty products are built to deliver glitter, glitter drives the product’s development more than the overall quality of the product itself.

That’s why I like Dior Style Liner.

The thick gel formula, the fine grain of the glitter bits (so fine that the product looks almost like metallic paint) and the fine, semi-stiff brush tip applicator make it easier for me to apply and to control than usual for glittery liquid liners.

Not only is Style Liner easy to use, but it feels age-appropriate. I can’t be running around like a wanna-be tween, ya know?

Dior Style Liner in Argent Silver

Price: $30
Use: A quality liquid eyeliner with glitter
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Unfortch, a steep price offsets all this glittery goodness, le sigh! A tube of Style Liner runs about $30, but one tube should last a while. It takes very little product to make a bold, solid line, and it doesn’t budge once it’s in place, so it doesn’t require frequent reapplication throughout the day (or night).

If you’re looking for a fun, eye-catching yet simple look for New Year’s Eve, try a thin line of Dior Style Liner on your upper lash line with curled lashes and two coats of mascara (or some big, false lashes!). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Karen !! This is such a conincidence ! I just got a Body Shop glitter eyeliner in silver and one in a peacock green and its gorge! Looks just like the dior one you mentioned but Dior’s packgaing is so Ooh La La ! Have you tried Urban Decay’s glitter eyeliners ? They are a lil chunky comparitively I think…
    Hope you’re having fun !!!

Wow, Dior seems to have done well with the glitter in all their products. Don’t know if I would ever be able to make a liner that bright work for me, but I like the way it works for you. I think I’ll stick to Blitz & Glitz from MAC for now. 😛

Are you going to be hitting up any of the after Christmas sales? I’m still too broke from Christmas, lol.

I love glitter–I’ve loved sparkly things since I was little! One question, though, I wear glasses, do you think I could pull off glittery eye shadow, or would that be too much?

That is a gorgeous silver liner! Yum! Dior gives good glitter! 😉

I was also pleasantly surprised by Too Faced glitter liner in Ooh and Aah! It’s a black and silver glitter liner that has huge-looking chunks of glitter in the tube, but once I put it on, I didn’t think it looked OTT at all! Maybe it’s the black glitter that just ends up making it look like a high-payoff black sparkle liner rather than a disco ball on steroids, but I like it! The liner gel itself (binder?) seems to be clear, so one could probably wear it over a color liner to nice effect as well!

Completely agree with Holly, Collection 2000’s glitter liners are AMAZING and they only cost £2.99. I used to use MAC and Urban Decay, but the Collection 2000 liners have a denser amount of glitter and don’t flake off. I’ve accidentally fallen asleep with some on and it was still perfect come the morning (unfortunately the pillow wasn’t!)

I think the silver looks great on you, are you going to be rocking it come New Year’s eve?

    Hi Elena,

I got a few gift cards but I didn’t go to the mall… I’m sort of shopped out!

OoO — Blitz & Glitz is a wonderful Fluidline! One of my faves. 🙂

    Hi MusicFer,

It’s nice to meet you, Fernanda. Funny you should mention Brazil. I just found out that there’s a Brazilian Supermarket in the town next to mine and I’m very excited because I can get an Acai bowl! YAY!

Do you have any favorite Brazilian cosmetics lines? I dunno if/when I’ll be able to travel there (I love traveling), but someday I’d like to go!

    Hi Lucky,

I wear glasses, too, and I think if you do the glitter in moderation you’d be fine. If I’m wearing my specs I usually will keep it to a line of glitter on the top lash line, or a bit of sparkly shadow on the lid. 🙂 It’s just enough without being too OTT.

    Hi Glosslizard,

The gel seems to make a difference, yah? I really like that it makes it so easy to use.

I will have to look into Ooh and Aah. I remember trying one Too Faced crazy green glitter liner one a few months ago at Sephora and being a bit overwhelmed, but I think I can handle black and silver. 🙂

    Go glitter!

    Hi NJ,

Wow! That’s some real deal staying power!

I dunno yet if I’ll do the silver glitter eye for New Years — I probably will since it’s super easy and very festive. It also gives me an excuse to practice putting on false lashes.

Do you have your New Year’s look planned out yet? 🙂
