Bite Beauty Vitamin Gel Tastes So Good I Had to Have Seconds

March 18th, 2011 by Karen 33 Comments

Botan Rice CandyThree words: Botan Rice Candy.

If you know what I’m talking about, don’t you just love the edible rice paper wrapper? YUM! I ate tons of those chewy, lemon-orange flavored candies as a kid. My mom would always let me put one pack in the cart whenever we’d go grocery shopping.

I hadn’t thought about them in years until the other day when I slipped a layer of new Bite Beauty Vitamin Gel in Pink Grapefruit ($18) on my lips.

It’s one of five vitamin-enriched flavors in Bite’s new line of moisturizing, non-sticky lip treatments, and I think it tastes EXACTLY like Botan Rice Candy (but not like grapefruit), om nom nom!

Bite Beauty Vitamin Gel in Pink Grapefruit

The pretty color, a barely there pink tint, shines brightly with a high gloss finish, but this one’s flavor will keep me coming back for more, and more, and more. It’s that yummy!

I’ve been applying it every once in a while throughout the day, kinda like a moisturizing snack (it has a standard slant applicator), and then right before bed to let it moisturize my lips while I sleep.

It’s a good thing Bite fashioned these all-natural Vitamin Gels out of food-grade ingredients and left out the synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts, because I might just have this tube for dessert. 🙂

Actually, I don’t think I’ll do that.

PRICE: $18 each
AVAILABILITY: Exclusive to Sephora. Available now at select stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I’m not sure if they all have the same flavor; if you’ve tried others, let me know in the comments)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Have you checked your biggest local supermarket’s international foods aisle? I am pretty sure I have seen it at HEB here in Texas. They even have pocky!

        Hey Karen,

Do you have World Market stores out where you live? Here in the southeast we have tons, and they have all of the Asian candy of my youth when I cannot get to the Asian grocery.

I love Botan Rice Candy! If you have a Cost Plus/World Market store, they should carry it. That’s where I always got it when I was a kid. I’m glad this Bite product worked out so well!

You are bringing back memories! I handed out rice candy to accompany my social studies speech on Thailand when I was in 8th grade. I have no idea if it was a product of Thailand. It was sold at the local Thai food store. That was good enough for me. haha

Excited to try this out since my Oriental Princess vitamin lip gloss is almost gone.

Never heard of Botan Rice Candy but it sounds so yummy I’m going to have to look for it next time I’m at the grocery store. I love the shade of the gloss-sort of a nude pale pink that goes so well with dramatic eyes.

I LOVE BOTAN RICE CANDY! It was always wrapped in my stocking at Christmas when I was growing up, and present at every gift-giving opportunity for my family. My mom originally found it at Cost Plus, but even Nugget carries it now. Safeway may have it in the Asian foods aisle. Making the comparison to Botan Rice Candy turned my lack of interest in this product into a full-on “MUST POSSESS” need.

I love those rice candies! I actually just saw some at an asian market a few months ago and ate the whole box in like 3 minutes. And they come with a sticker! Now I want to try this lip gloss but it will probably just make me hungry…
