You know that light flush that sometimes reddens your cheeks after a quick sprint, an embarrassing introduction or, um, a particularly bootylicious make-out session with a certain strapping viking vampire stricken with amnesia? That’s how my cheeks and lips look when I’m wearing Sula Beauty’s Lip & Cheek Tint in It’s Not Me, It’s You ($8).
I’ve been waiting for a reason to upgrade my opinion of the cruelty free Sula Beauty line, and these chubby cheek and lip creams just might be it. I thought that the last couple of products I tried from the line skirted the border between hit/miss, but with their adorable packaging and natural ingredients, they were products I really wanted to like.
The four Sula Beauty Lip & Cheek Tints ($8) up the ante, doubling as both cream blushes and lipsticks. I’ve been wearing coral It’s Not Me, It’s You (great name!) since Tuesday, and so far I’m impressed! 🙂
Worn as a blush on my cheeks, it stays put from dawn till dusk (or, for the undead/night owls among us, the other way around), and it lasts about three hours when I wear it as a lip tint.
I’m not sure what’s going on here…but I’m fairly certain it has something to do with Lloyd
Also, sh*t is fast! The other night when Tabs tore apart his latest feather toy and insisted I hit up the Petco before the store closed, I grabbed this stick of pigmented, easy-to-blend goodness, swiped a bit on my lips and cheeks, mellowed out the edges with my fingers and launched myself headlong out the door saying, “Yes, my kitty liege! I shall buy you another!”
If you prefer using oil-free products on your skin, you may have to look elsewhere, as Sula Beauty Lip & Cheek Tint has several oils listed at the top of the ingredient list.
Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis ( Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cera alba (Beeswax), Argania spinosa (Argan) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Polymethylmethacrylate, Natural Flavour, Tocopherol. (+/-) Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Carmine (CI 75470), FD&C Blue No. 1 (CI 42090), FD&C Yellow No. 5 (CI 19140), FD&C Yellow No. 6 (CI 15985), FD&C Red No. 40 (CI16035), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), D&C Red 6, D&C Red 7, D&C Red 33
That said, it hasn’t triggered any breakouts for me (yet).
Ladies with sensitive noses might also note that it does have a light scent (and flavor). I get faint whiffs of wax and lemon from it, which, truth be told, remind me of Pledge house cleaner.
Thankfully, it fades fast…
Even with the scent (of which I’m not a fan), I think Sula has a great little lip and cheek tint on its hands. Kudos, Sula, for creating something great for gals who love cruelty-free, affordable makeup.
PRICE: $8 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Ulta stores and also online

Because it’s Project Runway night! 🙂 I know I’m about a billion degrees of separation away from Tim Gunn, but oh, how I wish he were my friend. I swear I watch that show mostly because of him.
I wish he’d come over and give my wardrobe the tough love it deserves. I’m pretty sure he’d disapprove of my affinity for stretchy pants.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ah, I love the Star Wars reference with Tim Gunn. I assume it was a Star Wars reference. Either that or I am a gigantic nerd. Probably the latter. 😉
I reaaaaally like the ingredients. I actually recognize the names of everything! I was losing hope for Sula’s products, but this one renewed my interest! Must resist going to Ulta!

Wow that looks really natural! Thank you for sharing! I’ve never heard of this brand…

The one downside to this is the abundance of oils in it. I would try it, but it may pull a disappearing act after 10 minutes.
Tabs is so lucky to have a mom who buys him new toys often. Luckily, Rocky and Jazz are happy with bottle caps and my (expensive) makeup brushes. They do love their feather teaser when I use it with them.

Pledge scented lip/cheek product? Sounds unappealing, to me. xP

This looks really pretty and so affordable! And I love me some Tim Gunn. I’m in awe of his vocabulary and how effortlessly words like “trajectory” roll off his tongue!

I’ve started watching because TB because of the Viking (LOVE anything Scandinavian & vikings) Vampire & that is actually the main reason why I love it now. And I like that you’ll use any excuse to post his photos, just like I do, lol

Sounds like a great product when you’re in a hurry and definitely good news about it not causing breakouts. And on a side note, ah, Eric. 🙂

That tint is amazing – it looks really good on you…

Looks pretty, but I don’t want to smell like household cleaning liquid. However, even if it smelled wonderful, I can’t put fragrance on my face. It breaks me out :/
I love Tim Gunn. I like to think that someday, he and I will become dear friends and get brunch every Sunday. You are welcome to join us, if you’d like!
– SPOILER ALERT –
I was happy to see Kimberly win one! I’ve been growing fond of her over the past few episodes: she seems sweet and has great personal style. I totally wanted those pants. She lives nearby, so maybe I can acquire a pair…
