Ash Me About Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion

November 25th, 2009 by Karen 17 Comments

vaseline sheer infusion botanical blend body lotion

Be warned: When your cat swipes at your shins, he may be trying to warn you about dry skin.

We’re talking ashy ORANGE ALERT, and in my case it was looking exceptionally bad (remember the aliens from the original V?).

Luckily, I think I may have found something to help, and it costs less than $10.

Vaseline’s Sheer Infusion Body Lotion ($8) has been on store shelves for a few months, but I only recently gave it a try.

It contains a complex Vaseline calls Stratys-3, which they claim gets down and dirty to moisturize the deeper layers of skin.

Of the three available versions I’ve tried — Mineral Renewal, Vitamin Burst and Botanical Blend — I’m partial to Botanical Blend, mostly because I really like the vaguely floral scent. It’s mild and nondescript enough to play nicely with a variety of perfumes.

I apply it after showering and toweling off while my skin’s still damp, and it sinks in fast, without leaving behind a greasy or heavy film.

Most of the body moisturizers I’ve tried can’t hack cold weather, giving up the ghost after a few hours and forcing me to have to reapply (the ashiness returns!). Sheer Infusion, though, seems built for winter. It even keeps my scaliest parts — shins, heels and elbows — soft, moisturized and ash-free for a good 24 hours.

The $8 price is nice, but if you’re looking to save even more moolah, here’s a printable coupon worth $1.50. Every penny counts, right? Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Vitamin Burst smells citrusy and Mineral Renewal like a rosy floral. They’re all very light!

Can you believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving? What will you be doing for the holiday?

ooh, I’m gonna keep an eye out for the vitamin burst one! lotion scent is very important to me, lol.

I know, it really snuck up on me! We’ll be going to my grandparents’ house – they live about an hour away. I’m bring a caramel apple cake that I make every year! I had to swing by the grocery store this afternoon to buy the stuff to make it and that was a bad idea! the place was a mad house! what are your plans for tomorrow?

It smells very good! I bet it would layer well with citrusy fragrances.

Your cake sounds DELICIOUS! I heart everything caramel. 🙂

El Hub and I are headed out to my mom and dad’s in the East Bay. Both my parents asked me to bring Tabs (aka “their Grandcat”), but he won’t tolerate an hour-long car ride.

here’s the recipe if you ever want to try it – it’s SO easy and everyone always loves it and asks me for the recipe! also to make it even easier you can use caramel sauce meant for ice cream on the top. the great thing about it is it’s even better on day 2!

I loooooove this lotion. I haven’t tried the green one yet but I’ve used the other two and they are perfect for dry, cold new england weather. My one caveat is it does need time to absorb but it’s totally worth it!

When do you apply it? I usually do it right after I shower and it seems to sink in fairly quickly.

I haven’t spotted these at my pharmacies yet, but you get beat good old fashion Vaseline for moisturizing.

That’s old school! I like OG Vaseline for moisturizing but am not a fan of the greasy after-feel.

Hmm I thought the nice humid weather in the bay area was suppose to be less bad for skin? At least that was the impression I got in hot humid tropical Asia.
