A 60-Second Review: Korres The Lip Blockbuster, Volume II

November 7th, 2012 by Karen 12 Comments

Korres Lip Blockbuster Volume II

Whether you 1) can’t wrap your presents because your pet employer has you working mad overtime during the holidays, or 2) you suffer from painfully dry lips due to making out with that poster of [INSERT EYE CANDY HERE] on your bedroom wall (no judgment!), or 3) you just really, really like saving money on hydrating lip products from Korres, there’s a good chance your lips will love the new Lip Blockbuster, Volume II.

The Sephora exclusive kit comes with three full-size 0.21-ounce Lip Butter pots and three 0.34-ounce full-size tubes of Lip Butter Glaze in a cute holiday box that even doubles as gift wrapping in a pinch.

Purchased separately, the pieces would cost $78, but that’s the beauty of a good value kit. Together here they’re $39.

Korres’ Lip Butters and Lip Butter Glazes are formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs or triclosan.

Swatches of The Lip Blockbuster kit

All six super moisturizing shades — the Lip Butters in clear Guava, warm coral Pomegranate and rosy pink Quince; and the Lip Butter Glazes in neutral pink Jasmine, Raspberry and red Wild Rose — are formulated with natural oils and extracts to soothe and condition lips, and they apply sheer on mine, making them purrrfect for looks like holiday smokey eyes.

Oh, and each one has a faint, lightly fruity fragrance and flavor that I like.

Kudos, Korres, for a good value kit filled with hydrating lip products! 🙂

PRICE: $39 (a $78 value)
AVAILABILITY: Available now exclusively at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

Hey, pumpkin

LOL! No, this loaf of pumpkin bread didn’t come from that pumpkin that belongs to Tabs. 🙂 His is still safe…for now. I’m either going to turn it into a soup and bake the seeds, or use it to decorate the center of a new dining room table (dare to dream!).

This loaf came from a box from Trader Joe’s. I just mixed some oil, eggs and water, and stuck it in the oven for an hour.

It actually turned out really tasty, too! A little spicier than I expected (almost like a gingerbread cake), but oh, so moist and delicious.

I’m about to have a slice right now… Would you like one?

I hope your hump day got off to a good start and that your makeup looks fierce (FEEE–URSE!).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh, I LOVE the trader joe’s pumpkin bread mix. Try adding some blueberries to the batter next time you make it!

      Hi Claire,

Oh, yum! That sounds really good. Do you use fresh blueberries or frozen ones?

My next baking attempt is gluten-free pumpkin bread… I’ve gotten the hang of a great gluten-free banana bread (made with coconut flour and almond flour, so high in protein and fiber!)

The lip shades are beautiful, and I definitely need moisture this time of year.

      Hi Chelsea,

That sounds really good and healthy too. If you have the banana–bread recipe handy, I’d love it!

They are FINALLY building a Trader Joe’s in our city!!! I cannot wait to try some of the goodies that I’ve heard you speak about, Karen! 🙂 Those Korres lip butters are calling me- might have to find a way to try the coral colored one. Pretty and beneficial, I love a beauty double-whammy!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
