Origins Ginger Soufflé and Smoothing Soufflé Whipped Body Creams, and Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Wash: 3 Body Treats to Beat the Winter Blahs

Pick-me-ups for chilly mornings

I like ginger snaps, but I ❤️ Ginger Soufflé. Specifically this Ginger Soufflé, because I don’t have to actually cook it, LOL!

This soufflé is a winter staple I’ve been using off and on for years. It’s a Whipped Body Cream, and it’s $35 from Origins.

I’m a twice-a-day body moisturizing person — once in the morning, and once again before bed — and I’ve gotten back in the habit of slathering myself with Ginger Soufflé. The fresh, zingy (but not too spicy) lemon and ginger notes pick me up, and on chilly mornings, every little thing helps get ye olde engine going, ya know?

It’s packed with rich, moisturizing plant oils (olive, grape seed, rice bran and apricot kernel), but since it’s whipped, it still feels light and fluffy. It absorbs quickly and easily, too. It just takes a few quick rubs, and yes, this is totally important, ’cause nobody puts Baby in the corner, and nobody wants to put Karen in a cold bathroom, half naked and rubbing lotion on her legs for 10 minutes first thing in the morning…

I’m just sayin’.

The consistency is similar to Josie Maran’s airy Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter. It isn’t as dense as Kiehls Creme de Corps Whipped Body Butter, for reference.

Sometimes I swap it for another Origins fave, Smoothing Soufflé (also $35), which, like Ginger Soufflé, is also rich but fluffy and loaded with plant oils, but it smells like mint instead of ginger. (For the record, Smoothing Soufflé smells absolutely nothing like toothpaste to me. It’s more like a cup of freshly brewed peppermint tea spiked with orange peel.)

Ginger is my cozy scent, but minty Smoothing Soufflé is better when I need an extra energizing kick, like after a workout.

Speaking of that…I started doing a sweaty core workout in the mornings (because sometimes you just gotta get it over with and move on with your life, hi), and before I do the whole body cream thing, I lather up first with Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Wash ($25) while I’m still in the shower. It smells exactly like a fresh grapefruit, and the bubbles cheer me up. You can also use it as a bubble bath if you wanna #treatyoself.

It’s all about the little things, ya know? — especially on those mornings when I need all the help I can get.

Anyway, these have been headlining my winter morning body care routine as of late.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. The Christmas Cold has mostly passed, hooray! It’s nice to be able to smell my body creams again. 🙂

I love Ginger Souffle. I have gone through many jars over the years. My DH gave me that and the Ginger Fragrance for Christmas one year and I was hooked on both. The candle smells yummy too. Who knew he had such good taste? Now I need to try the grapefruit body wash.

      Hi Lily,

What a thoughtful gift from your hubby, aww! I hope you get to try the body wash soon because it smells very refreshing. I think there’s also a matching Body Souffle, too, which I’m going to try once I finish these two up.

I hope you’re having a great week so far! Got any exciting plans for New Year’s?

After a fun yet exhausting Christmas, I think I will open a bottle of Champs on the sofa and watch the ball drop on TV. Happy New Year to you!

That sounds good to me. I was thinking of grabbing a good book, a bunch of Chinese take-out and watching the ball drop!

Happy New Year to you, too. I’m ready for 2018!

I’m obsessed with all things moisture right now. When you spend most of the year in high humidity and it turns cold, your skin is like… ummm, What. Just. Happened?!?! My current jam is mixing a little Bum Bum Cream with some O’Keefe’s Healthy Hands or some Aveeno vanilla Body Yogurt. But now I’m intrigued by that minty Smoothing Souffle…

Hooray for getting over that cold! We’re finally over The Crud that made it’s way through the entire family. I’m sure, however, that we’ll all come down with something again as soon as school starts back.

      Hi Suzanne!

Haha, I know what you mean. The temperature swing isn’t extreme here where I live but I can definitely feel and see the difference in my skin, especially my legs.

Glad to hear The Crud has made its way through the fam. When do the kids go back?

January 5. Although I can’t imagine too many of the kids actually going for just one day, lol. It will get really real on the 8th: they start prepping for the standardized tests, which is so much fun for all involved. ~rolls eyes~

Right? I bet the teachers are tempted to cut class on that day! I know I would be.

          Got any plans for NYE?

I’ll probably keep the girls so their mom can do something; there’s not a lot of fun, kid-free time when you’re a single mom.
We’ll really just rest up for the NCAA playoffs on New Year’s Day. We’re University of Georgia fans, so it’s a HUGE day for us and we’re going to party.

I don’t know how single moms do it! I have help from El Hub and I still feel like I’m drowning. How lucky the girls to have you around to help.

I have no idea what’s going on for NCAA playoffs. Is your team playing that day?

I used to work at an Origins counter, and the ginger smell unfortunately gives me headaches! I wanted to be a ginger who smelled like ginger, LOL! I don’t actually like ginger in foods very much, I have sensitive tastebuds.

      Hi Chelsea,

A ginger wearing Ginger Souffle would’ve been so poetic. What were your favorite products from the line?

I love the smell of the entire A Perfect World line and used that cleanser. Also liked the charcoal mask, but on my nose / chin only because the rest of my skin is dry. I used to like their Modern Friction face scrub too.

A Perfect World smells really good. Haven’t tired the charcoal mask, but it sounds serious!

      Hi Rachel,

Me too, especially when it’s a nice balance between spicy and sweet, like this is.

I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday! This has been one of those long but short weeks. Do you guys have any plans for New Year’s?

New Year’s Eve we’re helping some friends who have to move in a hurry. Hopefully, we’ll be home before it gets too late.

We usually just stay home on NYE with the boys and watch movies and eat too much. lol

Hope the move goes smoothly. Don’t forget to brace your core and lift with your legs when you’re moving heavy things. 🙂

Hey, that sounds like the perfect NYE to me. I’m hoping to get some take out Chinese and watch some cheesy movies.

I won’t be moving anything heavy! I got rear-ended about three years ago and it messed up my back and hips.

I was never a big party girl, so I don’t mind not going out clubbing and partying for NYE.

Not a huge fan of ginger scents. Someone recommended ginger tea and raw ginger to help with motion sickness when I was on a diving boat, so the scent alsways reminds me of feeling miserable. But I am a big fan of sweaty workouts first thing in the morning, that is how I get my weekends started. Through the week I work out in the evening and it is much harder to motivate myself.

Yummy! I love grapefruit scents and something to perk me up in the morning is perfect. The body cream sounds lovely. I know what you mean about putting on lotion in a cold bathroom! I want to be done as quickly as possible. 🙂

I had a Christmas Cold too! Luckily I’m finally starting to feel better, but it was not fun for a while. And thank you for the lovely card! Happy Friday!
