The NARS Orgasm Collection: A New Three-Piece Release Arriving May 15th

May 11th, 2017 by Karen 23 Comments

The new three-piece NARS Orgasm Collection, arriving May 15th at NARS boutiques and the NARS website

Question: Is it possible to have multiple orgasms when you’re putting on your makeup in the morning?

Answer: Um…yeah?! It’s too easy to go there and do prepubescent boy jokes with NARS Orgasm. I’m sorry! Color me adolescent.

NARS has a new Orgasm collection. Shocker. But this one’s actually pretty exciting because there are two new versions of Orgasm — a liquid blush and a lipstick — neither of which I think I’ve ever seen from NARS before.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a respectable re-issue of Orgasm if the original Orgasm powder blush wasn’t up in the mix, and this one has new LE packaging.

When/where

The collection comes out on May 15th, and it’ll be at NARS boutiques and the NARS website. I know for sure that the powder blush is LE, but I’m not sure about the liquid blush and the lipstick. Will have to get back to you on that.

NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush ($30)

Obviously, one of the exciting things here is Orgasm Liquid Blush, and girl…FRAK, it’s good!

For comparison, it’s thicker than Benefit Benetint. Actually, have you ever worn the Veil Primer by Hourglass? I think it feels a lot like that. Almost like a runny lotion, and it’s slippery and kinda silicone-y.

You know the gold shimmer in the original Orgasm? I dunno…but it borders on obnoxious for me sometimes because I’ve got this whole pore situation happening. There’s still gold shimmer in Liquid Orgasm, too, but it’s waaay toned down. It looks like a satiny peach pink with micro flecks of gold in it that peek out here and there.

You can use it on top of or underneath powder products, and it does well in both situations.

Yeah, it’s $30, and the glass bottle is pretty tiny, but the pump is easy to control, and if you pump one drop and spread it around with a brush or your finger, that drop will just keep spreading and spreading and spreading… It’s so concentrated!

Any time you get a lot of color without having to use a ton of product is exciting, but what puts this leagues above most liquid blushes is the way it spreads across skin. When you push it across your cheeks (I use my fingers, but you can also use a brush), it doesn’t skip some patches and stop on others. The color goes on evenly, and you have lots of control over it, which is my big issue with most liquid blushes, especially thin, runny ones. But you can easily place Orgasm Liquid Blush exactly where you want it.

UGH! So beautiful, it hurts! I really hope it’s perm.

NARS Orgasm Lipstick ($28)

Now for Orgasm Lipstick, first, it’s pretty sheer, thin and slippery — like your typical NARS Sheer Lipstick formula (which is similar to a MAC Lustre). In real life, it looks more metallic than it does in pics, and, weirdly enough, it smells like plumeria!

Kinda tastes a little floral, too.

NARS Orgasm Blush ($30)

Sigh… NARS, did we really need to do this again?

This time it has LE packaging, and yeah, it’s pretty on the outside, but picking up the powder from the pan is…annoyingly challenging.

Run a finger across this one, then run a finger across an Orgasm pan from the permanent line, and I bet you’ll notice a difference. This one feels much harder packed and stiffer to me.

If you need a new Orgasm (ha! 13-year-old boy joke!), I’d feel better about steering you toward the Orgasm Blush in the permanent line. There’s a marked difference in texture between the two.

Still looks the same on mah cheeks, though. It just takes more work…

Karen

Beautiful ! Love the look of the liquid blush ! Might pick it up; I don’t like the sheer lipstick. I like my lipsticks to be pigmented.

      Hi Lubna,

I think it depends on the lipstick. I don’t mind sheer at all, especially during the summer when makeup generally is less opaque.

Ok, not clever to have this lipstick out as a sheer shade imo. It could be a gorgeous colour but can see that disappearing on me. I’m skipping these as I have the original orgasm and the rest too sheer…

I don’t mind that it’s sheer; I think if it was super pigmented it might look a touch dated. It’s pretty with Orgasm gloss on top!

I have the orgasm blush from the permanent line and love it. I also have an orgasm highlighter in a tube that I got a few years ago in some sort of package deal with an orgasm lip gloss. I’m not so nuts about the highlighter so I’m really interested in the liquid blush–I really like using those so I think I’ll have to pick that one up.

      Hi Jennifer,

The Orgasm blush from the permanent line is a classic. I think that you’ll like how the liquid version layers so well! You’ll be able to wear it with your powder blush. 🙂

Being new to the Nars line, I have to say that the Orgasm blush is not a favorite of mine. I have a sample that I got as a mini duo with the Laguna Bronzer. I find the flecks a bit too busy for me as well so I will pass on this collection. I am loving my other Nars purchases like the radiant tinted moisturizer and concealer and sheer lipstick in Dolce Vita. I actually am going today to pick up the new sun wash bronzer in Laguna which my local L & T was holding for me.

    Be well!

      Hi Jane,

Radiant is one of the best things from the line. I used it and loved it for years. And Dolce Vita!!! One of my very first NARS purchases. Such a great choice, Jane! It’s a classic and you can wear it with everything. While you’re there, if you have a moment, explore some of their eyeshadow duos and singles. They have so many beautiful ones.

Hi Karen! I’ve been following your blog for a while and thought it’s high time to delurk and say hello. 😀 Really enjoy your posts and videos, and love your sense of humor! ♡ I want to take this chance to say, of course I’m reading for the new releases but I also really appreciate the Unsung Heroes series. It’s really helped with building the core of my makeup stash and I’ve found quite a few things that I love through it and use often♪

I’m a total NARS girl and am very excited about the Orgasm liquid blush. But I also went bonkers recently over the Charlotte Gainsbourg collection and got the Multiple Tint in both Alice and Jo and have been using them every day for 2 weeks straight. (I generally do quite natural makeup so that whole collection went straight for my heart and wallet! :P) I do hope the liquid blush is perm, then I can space out my purchases a bit!! 😉

I verge on hating the standard Nars packaging. The way that rubberised coating goes all tacky and disgusting over time. I’ve ended up removing the pan of each one and putting them into Nars customisable palettes. So obvs LE packaging is kind of lost on me.

Orgasm has never ever worked for me – but it really should! On paper it’s my absolute ideal blush colour. Don’t know what’s going wrong with it ☹️

Thx for swatches! Def going to check out the liquid blush. Somehow liquid blushes & bronzes seem genuine & seamless. But what really got me is your necklace! So pretty! Details?

Oooh, the liquid blush is calling me! The lipstick looks really pretty and like something I’d like, but I hate floral lipsticks.

I’m glad you said that about the LE Orgasm blushes being different than the permanent line. I got that LE plus-size Orgasm that they had out around Thanksgiving last year (it’s like a pan and a half) and it just hasn’t seemed the same, but I thought it was just me. I am, however, very very interested in the liquid blush. My skin is changing and anything powder is not working well now.

I love the liquid blush! You totally sold me on it. I agree with the golden flecks sometimes annoying on the original Orgasm. The lipstick looks nice too, actually. But it seemed to be something I’d rather try out before I buy (no chance of doing it here).

I went through quite a few pans of Orgasm blush during my 20s, along with picking up the various flankers of other products in that shade (lipgloss, nail polish, a Multiple, Super Orgasm blush) and I’ll probably add the liquid blush and lipstick to it as well! I’m such a sucker for anything that’s peachy/pinky/gold, I love wearing it in the summer!

Though I almost exclusively wear peachy-gold blushes, I prefer theBalm Hot Mama blush; Nars Orgasm just never shows a good sheen on my skin! That being said, I can definitely see myself being unable to resist that lipstick! Nars has some really great lipstick colors. Although I do find the Audacious line a bit drying 🙁

After my long running phase with M.A.C. the Orgasm blush was one of my first higher end makeup purchases. I’ve had it for years! Probably should replace it though. 😛 I’m OK with skipping out on this set altogether.
