NARS Newness! Some of My Go-To NARS Eyeshadow Singles and Duos Have Been Relaunched, and There Are New Tinted Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Bases

NARS newness

Forget for a second the ongoing trend of beauty brands relaunching products in smaller sizes while charging the same price for them (because that’s what’s happening here with the recently relaunched NARS eyeshadow duos and singles), and try instead to focus on the tantalizing taupes, gorgeous golds and beaming bronzes in these NARS eyeshadows, which also happen to be some of my personal faves, oh la la!

I’m not overjoyed that NARS whittled the pans down to 0.04 ounces from 0.07, and, in the case of the duos, is charging the same price (still $35), but at least the singles, which used to be $24, are $19 now…

Even so, every time I see Fez on my lids, I’m like, “François, how YOU doin’?” Because if there’s one thing NARS still does really well, it’s neutral colors. I’m still a sucker for them.

Far as I can tell, these updated versions of my go-to’s are pretty much the same as the previous versions. They’re just as smooth and just as loaded with pigment, and now have new packaging. The pans also pop out, so if you want to stick them into another palette, you can do so without having to perform a seance/minor surgery, which is what de-potting eyeshadows always looks like to me in YouTube vids.

Also new from NARS: four new tinted versions of their famous Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($26 each).

They, too, work just as well as the originals. They will lock that shadow down, but you have to blend them lickety-split, because they’ll dry in less than 30 seconds.

You can check ’em out now in the NARS permanent line from the convenience of your couch OR at your favorite NARS counter. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I need more eyeshadow like I need a hole in the head, but those cool tone taupe are stunning! Bali and Kalahari in particular, and as far as just the right pink, Nepal is gorgeous. Thanks for showing them.

    Hi Laurie!

You’re welcome. If you end up grabbing the Kalahari duo one fun thing to do is mix the two shades together, apply it to lids, then swipe a cool or neutral matte brown in the crease. Then lots of mascara of course!

Hey, Karen! Fellow Pinay here and we have very similar skin tones. Is there a specific shade of the new eyeshadow primer you like best? Thanks!

      Hi, Hes!

I usually use Medium. It’s not my exact skin tone but I like how it brightens up my lids and brightens up whatever I have on top. The Medium Dark works too but I find that when I use bronzes or golds (which I like wearing the most) it tends to dull the color ever so slightly. But for darker colors (like navy smoky eyes) it’s fine. So it really depends, I guess, on what looks you wear the most. If you do mostly neutrals, then I’d go for Medium. HTH and please let me know if you have any other questions.

While I am not crazy about paying the same for less, I don´t use up eyeshadows on a reguar, so probably won´t hit pan on them no matter how much they contain…

Fez and Bali look like my cup of tea! To test out the formula – for “science” – I already purchased the Kauai duo and I’m loving it! NARS’ new shadow formula sure is amazing. Thank you for the primer swatches! I need to pick up one of those too.

I have been curious about the reformulated NARS shadows and have tried them. I admit that I was bummed when my favorite duo (Madrangue, or however it was spelled) was left out. It was the perfect neutral matte combo for me. Having said that, I decided to spend my money on the Chanel quad and lipstick and will wait until I have money to play with for the single shadows. I have my eyes on the medium shadow base and Ashes to Ashes or Nepal and one of the matte brown shades. I like that they pop out so that I can create my own combo. As someone else said, I don’t mind the smaller size, since the price is lower as well. I rarely use up eyeshadow these days.

    Be well!

Everything looks so nice! Not happy that they’re charging the same prices for less. -_-

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
