NARS NARSissist Wanted Power Pack Lip Kit in Cool Nudes: 3 Things to Know

Awww…freak out!

(Le freak, c’est chic!)

FREAK OUT!

If you listen to disco, you know that your booty is guaranteed to start shaking whenever this song plays.

Le Freak, by the way, is also the name of one of the liquid lipsticks in the new $26 NARS NARSissist Wanted Power Pack Lip Kit in Cool Nude, which is coming exclusively to Ulta very soon — March 18th!

Cool Nudes is one of three new liquid lip kits from NARS, and each comes with two cute Powermatte Pigment minis. One of the shades is a re-promoted shade from the permanent line (American Woman), and the other, Le Freak, is a new limited edition pale pink.

The other liquid lippie, matte chestnut rose American Woman, is from the permanent Powermatte line, and I wear it all the time. I wear it so much that I’m constantly transferring it from purse to purse (it’s like a round robin!), and I don’t even know which purse my full-size one is in at the moment, so the other day I wore the mini instead.

Same color as its full-size brethren, and it’s just as lovely, light and comfortable.

It does seem more drying, though…

My lips also get thirsty when I wear pink Le Freak… Not sure what’s up with that.

The minis seem ever-so-slightly thicker than the full-size versions, and maybe that has something to do with it. Sometimes brands will use different manufacturers for LE products, or use different formulas, but who knows? All I know is this: the day after I wear either of these mini colors, I have to douse my lips in layers of lip balm, and that never really happens when I wear the Powermattes from the permanent collection.

The Powermattes are usually $26 each, so I do like that you get two colors for the price of one in this kit, but I think the permanent shades perform better, and they aren’t nearly as drying.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

American Woman is a pretty color. I would like to find something that lasts a while, doesn’t go all over the place, wears down to a nice even stain and doesn’t dry out my already dry lips further. I’m asking a lot, I know.
I still sort of prefer bullet lipsticks.

Especially Le Freak looks a little uncomfortable in the close up. I guess I would invest in the full size of American Woman instead, because that color looks lovely.

You’re welcome, Michelle. Have you tried the original ones in the permanent line? They’re very good! If you need any color recs let me know. 🙂

I want to wear matte liquid lippies like this but they suck 200 percent of the moisture from my lips. I tried the new Physician’s Formula liquid lip color, and I’m glad I only wasted $8. It accentuated lip lines I didn’t know I had, and after five minutes I looked and felt parched.

I love the NARS Velvet Lip Glide, and I wish they would expand the color range.

Looks like I’ll steer clear of this set, but I’ve tried American Woman at Sephora some time ago. Love the shade!

I prefer American Woman, so that can eventually be mine in full size!

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
