Barielle Sugar Rush Summer 2009: Help!

May 14th, 2009 by Karen 24 Comments

barielle sugar rush summer 2009

Homies, I need your help. I need to give my toes some TLC before I leave at the booty crack of dawn tomorrow (5:45!) for the airport. I’m trying to choose between one of the shades from Barielle’s Sugar Rush 2009 summer collection ($8 each). Which one do you think I should go with?

The skinny…

  • Swizzle Stix: A creamy baby blue that’s a touch streaky.
  • Sweet Addiction: A creamy mint green that applies smoothly with consistent color.
  • Lemondrops: A bright yellow reminiscent of last year’s Essie Short Shorts (le sigh!), but slightly more streaky.
  • Grape Escape: A creamy, deep purple that both Barney *and* Prince would envy.
  • Decadence: Remember this shimmery teal from April Fool’s Day? LOL!
  • Cotton Candy: A sweet, shimmery baby pink that applies with rich color.

All of the shades dry quickly to an uber-shiny finish.

C’mon, shake, shake it… okay, not really

I was dancing around my living room to 80s dance music earlier today (don’t lie, I know you totally do it!) and got to thinking about how Thursday night used to be *the* party/club/dance night in college. Now what I look forward to most Thursday nights is a good dose reality TV and going to bed by 10, LOL!

How’s your evening shaping up? Are you going out or laying low at home?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oooh the yellow is just too much fun! I just started spring semester (boo) so I’m just going to be curling up to a book and cursing the ridiculous amounts of homework coming my way =(

      Hi Nat,

If you like the yellow one you would LOVE Essie Short Shorts. Every time I think of that color I get a little teary… I love it so!

What classes are you taking this spring? Anything fun?

I love all the colors and I imagine you’re going to have fun this summer with ’em! If you REALLY can’t choose you can always do two–I like darker for toes and lighter for hands. Yellow does, however, sound nice for summer…when I get home I will definitely try to find a yellow and play with it. For travel, however, I like simpler colors….like green XD

My night is looking possibly interesting. Friends are getting back in town and I’m trying to get together with them to see Star Trek before I leave town! Woot! Am officially done with school and finals and need a good celebration!

I really like the sweet addiction, very enticing.

For a Thursday night… I ended up having dinner with my family at Olive Garden. Remember the commercial — “a place to be a family” yeaaa… how ironic? lol

Lemondrops! Yellow nailpolish is totally having a moment, and you really can’t go *too* bright for Hawaii 😀

I have Swizzle Stix on my toes right now! 🙂

I know I’m too late, but either Lemon Drops or Decadence would do due diligence to your sandal looks!

    Hey Karen!

Know I’m totally too late (some things never change!)but just wanted to say that Decadence looks totally gorgeous with both your skin tone and those lovely yellow sandals but Cotton Candy and Grape Escape also look beautiful on you – you’re so lucky to have such a lovely skin tone – I’m pale with yellow undertones so can have a real nightmare picking colours that suit.

      Hi Stef,

Thank you! We arrived a few hours ago and now we’re just chillin. My toes are still a mess — I didn’t have time to paint them. I did bring my polishes, though, so I’ll do ’em here. 🙂

I love all of them and would love to have them. But my favorite is swizzle stix. It is a beautiful color and I know it would look good on both of us.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
