Makeup Organization Ideas: MAC Paint Pots, Pigments or Fluidlines

May 27th, 2010 by Karen 36 Comments

Another makeup organizational treasure from the craft store, babes!

I found this clear ArtBin box with 18 compartments at Joanne for about $7. Each cubby is big enough to fit a MAC Paint Pot, Pigment or Fluidline (Benefit Creaseless Creams and Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams also fit nicely, too).

I used to keep ’em jumbled up in a single drawer, but it took forever to find the color I wanted, and whenever I’d move one pot, all the others would move too. With the pots separated like this, I can always find exactly what I need quickly.

Added bonus: the containers are see-through, stackable and portable, too.

I know there’s a lot of cream shadows in one space in these pics, and most women probably don’t hoard as much as I do, LOL! Things just start to add up after one avidly collects for a few years…

Good eye, Yiota! Do you like that one, too? I love it as a wash on the lid with a little bit of Teddy liner smudged along the lash lines.

Once again, you have so many pots! I don’t own a single cream shadow or pot of eyeliner. I would have no idea how to use it!

Oh, it took a while to get to this point, LOL! May I suggest starting with Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Skinny Jeans or Birthday Suit? Both are great neutrals for the eyes and are super easy to use (just dab the color onto your lids with a finger).

What a great idea!! I’ve been using a toolbox for what I use regularly but it’s basically a big jumple of everything together. This looks like it would stack neatly if two or more boxes are needed….which they are! 🙂

Great minds think a like! I store some random bits and bobs in a toolbox as well. 🙂

Hm, I need this. BUT if I have a tray that has some slots unfilled, it’ll drive me crazy until I fill them. That can be disastrous.

This is a great idea! I’m trying to get organized right now. I need to make a trip to the craft store really badly.

And I spy Rollickin’!! (which I bought at CCO recently and I’m currently obsessed with and using almost daily)

I love those benefit shadows as bases WAY better than MAC paint pots. I don’t understand the appeal of paint pots at all! they’re so thick and heavy!

Yeah… they can be a bit challenging sometimes. Some of them are awesome, though, like Groundwork and Delft.

Nice! I dont have too many pots to store. Now im worried that if I get that cubby organizer, the empty slots will feel lonely and ill have to just fill `em up!

I actually use Artbins too! Mine is filled with Benefit creaseless creams….I also use the one with 6 long vertical compartments, it holds my smudgepots, UDPPs, paint pots, and HIP liners. I love all these little pots! I just picked up a few more, they are 50% off at JoAnns right now (making them $3.50 each).

I’m gonna start to look for this now. It seems great! My paintpots and creaseless cream shadows are still shuffling around in my drawer LOL

I’m wondering if the MAC pigments (old packaging) will fit into these compartments.

i absolutely love seeing and finding new ways to organize my stuff, especially my makeup. i bought some mesh drawer organizers from The Container Store (during the spring organization sale) to sort out my eyeshadows & palettes, makeup brushes & tools, mineral makeup, and eyeliners/mascaras/etc. so i could clear up counter space but now I’m actually needing to get a countertop pencil holder for all my pencil eyeliners, lipglosses, and what not.
