Today’s Makeup: MAC Ruby Woo, I’m Into You! The MAC Keepsakes Red Lip Bag and MAC Keepsakes Smoky Eye Bag

October 7th, 2014 by Karen 21 Comments

MAC Keepsakes Smoky Eye and Red Lip
Wearing makeup from the new MAC Keepsakes holiday collection

I got Ruby Woo’d today, man! I had an early morning meeting, so no glitter or falsies. Just a reliable, classic combo of cat eyes and red lips using the contents of the new MAC Keepsakes Smoky Eye Bag ($39.50/$47.50 CAD) and Keepsakes Red Lip Bag ($39.50 US/$47.50 CAD).

Red lips and cat eyes — it’s hard to go wrong with that combo. There are endless ways to tweak and work it.

I usually use a gel or liquid liner for my feline eyes, but I was running late today. (No way! That never happens, haha.) I couldn’t risk getting into a Greco-Roman wrestling match with my eyeliner, so I went with a softer, smokier version by lining my upper lash lines with a black eye pencil, and then smoking out the edges with a shimmery, blackish gray eyeshadow to create the cat eye shape.

MAC MAC Keepsakes Smoky Eye Bag Eye of the Day

Sometimes I prefer the softer, less formal look I can get with the eye pencil-eyeshadow combo…and sometimes it’s just quicker and easier than trying to control a gel or liquid liner.

MAC Keepsakes Red Lip Bag

It being the season and all, I paired the eyes with a red lip, reaching into the MAC Keepsakes Red Lip Bag for MAC Ruby Woo Lip Liner, Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick and Ruby Woo Lipglass.

Oh! If you haven’t danced with bluish red Ruby Woo yet, you MUST. It’s one of those MAC reds you have to try at least once, ideally when you’re going someplace fun (no, not a work meeting…although that would also work).

The MAC Keepsakes Red Lip Bag and Smoky Eye Bag arrive online with the rest of the Keepsakes collection October 19, before showing up at North American MAC stores and counters October 23 through December 18 (and at all international MAC locations this November).

Migraines, and Gilmore Girls mania

Gilmore CatsTRUTH: All I want to do is marathon Gilmore Girls on Netflix today.

That’s all I want.

How did I miss this show when it came out?! Let’s see…at the time I was in my already melodramatic early 20s, so that kind of explains it.

Anywho, I really like the show, and I’ve had a terrible migraine all day, so I’m tempted to just pet Tabs and watch TV on the couch.

Did you watch Gilmore Girls? I’m still on the first season, so lots of Gilmore left to watch. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I don’t know why this occurred to me right now, but guess what other great show returns for a new season this weekend?? (Here’s a hint: it stars a samurai named Michonne.)

I love this soft eye combined with a classic red lip! I am still not a fan of reds on my lips…

I hope your migraine goes away quickly, I know it’s the worst pain ever! Hugs!

I love the look! Everytime I use a pencil liner it only lasts 2-3 hours and poof part of it is gone. I have ruby woo and I’ll have to try it with a similar eye look

Ruby woo lip glass is amazing I can see my self wearing this at my husbands Christmas party. I may have to reapply 20 times because I will be assaulting the chocolate fountain!

I like the look and I’ve only ever seen half of the first season of the show. It’s great to watch on the treadmill!

Previously I was on the fence about owning more smoky colors. Dang it, totally want the keepsakes bag.

I love LOVE Ruby Woo! I own a lot of reds but nothing looks as good as Ruby Woo. These 2 bags are coming home with me! I don’t fiddle with liquid/gel liner either when I’m in a hurry.

Beautiful as always! Had migraines too every time I wake up in the morning for the last coupl’a days! It turns out, my hair gel was the culprit. I must be allergic to its fragrance. Take care, K!

Oh, I completely forgot that TWD was starting this weekend – thanks for the reminder. No, I’ve never watched a Gilmore Girls ep. I guess I would have been in my mid-20s then so, if it wasn’t playing at a bar, I probably had no chance of seeing it. 🙂

The Red Lip bag is sooooo tempting. Sadly, I’m a dramatic lip coward. Jump off a waterfall? No problem. Wear brightly colored makeup in public? Not a chance. HAHA!

Man I wanted those lips until I saw that it was RUby Woo – I so wanted to love this color but sadly it looks just a bit harsh on my skin tone.

That said, I did just pick up the ROcky HOrror lippies in Strange Journey and Oblivion and LOVE LOVE LOVE them both.

I think I will get a similar look with Oblivion. OR of course I can go the hourglass route with my favorite lippie in Raven.

Love the Ruby Woo lip bag but since I own the lipstick doubt if I’ll buy it. You did a pretty look using it though!
