Swatch Out! And Get MAC In The Groove

July 8th, 2010 by Karen 28 Comments

MAC IN THE GROOVE
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose

Today zillions of MACaholics (including yours truly) descended like locusts! were drawn to makeup counters like moths to a flame.

Question: Why did we do it?

Answer: To get MAC In The Groove. The 35-piece beauty bonanza — with makeup morsels for eyes, lips, cheeks and face — relies heavily on MAC Mineralize products.

With goodies ranging from $14-42, it’s like this year’s version of last summer’s Colour Craft, which I kinda adored.

Along with oodles of new makeup and a couple of highly anticipated re-promotes (Stereo Rose, anyone?), we also got a reformulated line of smoove Mineralize Eye Shadow Trios, YAY!

Did you swing by a MAC counter today? I’m curious to hear if you tried to snag shimmery golden coral Stereo Rose. Seems like it was one of the fast movers. I figured it might sell out at my local counter, so I called ahead to reserve one just in case.

If you weren’t able to visit a counter today, here are some swatches (for reference, I’m an NC35). 🙂

Hi Karen! Sorry to bother you! Would it be possible to see Creme d’Nude on you? I love it for a nude lippie but I’m concerned that it might be a bit too light for my skin tone (similar to yours)…

    Thank you! Love your site!

I love love love my Stereo Rose MSF when I picked it up during an earlier release from my MAC store. Today, I went back to get Petticoat MSF and B2M the In the Groove Mineral eyeshadow. Stereo Rose is now officially sold out at all my near by counters and MAC stores!

I went to my MAC store after lunch and Stereo Rose was sold out! All the local counters and stores are out. People apparently lined before opening like it was the iPhone4. LOL. What a bummer.

    Hi Karen,

This is just a random question. I recently picked up Greensmoke and Humid eyeshadows because I was feeling adventurous and wanted to break away from browns. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can combine them? (Or use them ..?)

    Thanks 🙂

I was bad. I admit it.

I ordered stuff online – By Candlelight and Stereo Rose (backordered though) as well as 3 lipsticks – Jazzed, I Like it Like That and All Styled Up.

Because SR was backordered (and im sure will be cancelled soon), I called my MAC counter @ Dillards and reserved an SR and also picked up Comfort.

OMG @ SR – it is pure love; surprisingly, Comfort is also pretty goshdarned nice. I already own Petticoat from a previous collection (got it from the CCO) and that is one of my fave MSFs.

Did not get any eyeshadows … but I think my damage was pretty hefty. Im not buying anything until Fabulous Felines come out – my MAC SA said it was gonna be one of the best releases of this year…

Ooooh I love your swatch of Stereo Rose (which I managed to pick up) since I think that my skin color is about as light/dark as yours. I agree that petticoat is gorgeous, as well as by candlelight, but both seem a bit too shimmery to get away with how natural I like my makeup. I am proud of myself for only walking out with the one (and my first) MSF!

Petticoat looks gorgeous on your skintone! I am going to hit MAC later today — I hope they still have a good selection of everything!
I want Togetherness, maybe Blue My Mind, By Candlelight — we’ll see if I get any blushes.
The swatches always look great on you!

Such pretty stuff! I wound up getting Candlelight, Togetherness, I Like It Like That and Go For It. Yay!

I almost got Petticoat rather than Candlelight, but I think Candlelight suits my skin much better.

I was tempted by Petticoat too! I might actually go back to get it, LOL.

Did you get any lipsticks? There were a couple of purples that would probably look great on you.

So far I love the trio and the blush duo, as far as the MSF goes… does not go on that well on my skin! haha! When I was looking through your post, I figured I forgot to pick up Call My Buff!! Urgh!!! Going on vacation tomorrow don’t know if I can still get it when I come back 🙁

Hey Karen! I sure gave into the whole Stereo Rose hype being the fact that I LOVE MSF’s!! My local Macy’s MAC counter had 3 left so me, my mom and co worker snatched them up!!

My haul included By Candlelight, Stereo Rose (of course) and Hang Loose blush duo! That’s it 🙂 I already had Petticoat so I scratched that off my list and I loved how All Styled Up lipstick looked but it’s very similar to my Viva Glam Gaga which I adore 🙂

    Today’s look:

Arctic Grey, Wintersky (both from MAC’s Chill collection 2008, vanilla e/s
    Hang Loose blush
Viva Glam Gaga l/s with Mary Kay Polynesian Petals LE l/g

I flocked lol. I’ll admit it. My MUA from MAC called me a few days before to see if I wanted to pre-sale so I did that AND I still was standing outside the store before they opened on Thursday lol. I’m such a nerd. I wanted to make sure I got Stereo Rose, and I did! Yay! I also got Jazzed, which is gorgeous. But honestly, I think I’m more excited for the Alice + Olivia products. I got Partylicious pigment and I LOVE it! I’m gonna go back to get Later pigment. It’s a must, such a pretty color.

i seriously heart stereo rose! i thought it was silly to wake up early to stalk sites, stalk my local dept store counters, and the MAC freestanding, but i got my hands on one. it is so flattering on darker tones too and it looks awesome on you!
