Some quick first impressions

  • Blushes in Hidden Treasure and Supercontinental ($20 each): Rich burnt red Hidden Treasure and bright coral Supercontinental ($20 each) apply with loads of pigment; really loving these so far!
  • Eye Shadow Duo in Marche Aux Puces ($27.50): The chestnut brown matte Indie Spirit (looks a little like MAC Browscript) is kinda hard to blend. The second shade, Chessa, a mid-tone golden orange, applies on the sheer side.
  • Eye Shadow Duo in Culturalized ($27.50): Both the matte beige Brule and the mid-tone gold Retrospeck are repromotes from MAC’s permanent collection. I use ’em all the time. Odd, but this version of Retrospeck seems to have more fallout than usual.
  • Mattene Lipsticks ($15 each) and Lipglasses ($15 each): Like the rest of the items I’ve seen from Styleseeker, the Mattenes and the Lipglasses lean warm, so they might be better suited to gals/guys who prefer warmer shades.

MAC Styleseeker lands on MAC counters, in stores and up on maccosmetics.com in North America August 23, and internationally next month.

I’m a huge fan of gold eyeshadows and I had Retrospeck in the refill pan, but I didn’t really like it. There was just too much fallout during application compared to my other MAC eyeshadows and it just wasn’t pigmented enough for me. It’s unfortunate that you experienced even more fallout with the new version. I was hoping that they would improve the formula. =(

Love your neutral look of Culturalized, Supercontinental and Mattene in Delectable!! But I feel like I already own so many similar shades. Would you say Supercontinental is a must have? Thanks Karen!

      Hi Soo Jin,

Depends on what you have. Do you have NARS Madly? It’s the closest thing I can find to Supercontinental. It’s just a touch more peach…

I love the blushes on you, they look better on than in the pan. I’m definitely planning on trying a mattene, I love the mat finish 🙂

The Mattenes are great! So comfy on the lips and they last a really long time.

I really like that reddish blush…. I don’t own a blush like that. I have a coral blush, blue based pink blush, shimmery coral blush, and a neutral blush….. I think that would look quite lovely in the winter time? 🙂

      Hi Savannah,

I think it would too. You may need a fan brush to apply it because it’s so concentrated, but I bet with a light touch it would look gorgeous, especially paired with a red lip.

So the duos are a pass because the first one (Marche something) seems dupeable using the Call Me Bubbles quad; and the 2nd one has shades I already have!

The blushes are still a yay though!

      Hi Nina,

Yeah!! The coral shade, Supercontinental, could easily be an every day blush. 😀 I bet it would look awesome with some bronzer…

I’m thinking about grabbing Culturalized, because I don’t own either of the cult Brule and Retrospeck. I’m not a fan of fallout, though, so now you make me doubt…

      Hi Lulle,

If you use a flat brush like a MAC 239 and are really good about tapping off the excess it should be less of a problem.

I agree with Lulle. I was looking forward to the eyeshadow duos but I feel like I could just get the permanent individual e/s. I’m leaning towards getting ricepaper, brule, amber lights instead… how does the pigment of the duos compare to the permanent ones?

      Hi Ava,

The pigment for the Brule/Retrospeck combo seems similar.

Ok, maybe I’ll be getting the Culturalized duo after all–Retrospeck provides more contrast than I thought it would. I know they’re both repromotes but I haven’t tried either shade, though I’ve been meaning to for quite a while. Also, LOVING that Lipglass in Restless on you!

This is one of the rare times when what I liked in the pan/tube is still what I like in the swatch/FOTD. 🙂 I think Hidden Treasure would be a bit much for me, especially since it’s so pigmented. But Restless would definitely be doable.
