MAC Style Black FOTD: Greasepaint Stick in Black with Young Punk Eyeshadow

September 25th, 2009 by Karen 61 Comments

mac style black fotd

Rise and shine, ladies. 🙂 TGIF!

This shimmery purple eye comes courtesy of two products from the new MAC Style Black collection, the Greasepaint Stick in Black and Mineralize Eyeshadow in Young Punk. That’s Young Punk layered on top of the stick on my lids.

Also in the mix: the Eye Kohl in Smolder along the waterlines (upper and lower), Young Punk along the lower lash line and two coats of the new Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara on my lashes.

I was shooting for something wearable enough for a business meeting…

mac-style-black-fotd-eyes

Oh — remember the Origins GinZing Eye Cream-concealer trick for dark circles we talked about the other day? I used it for this look, mixing GinZing with Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and applying under my eyes.

Not bad, right? I think it almost looks like I slept well, LOL!

mac-style-black-fotd-eye

*Yay* for products that look scary in their pans yet still work for wearable looks!

In other news, aren’t you excited it’s Friday? I hope your day is fierce! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

That is a cool eye look Karen, I like how your eyes are very defined. Is that the effect of lining your waterline??

      Hi Patti,

Yup! I line the waterline with black when I want more of an edgier look. For days when I want a softer look I like MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl. It a bronzy gold that adds a little something without being too over the top.

Gorgeous! So I finally picked up stuff from the collection last night – spent $100. AGH. But I haven’t bought anything from MAC in awhile sooooo… I felt justified. The funny thing is that I got the Feline eye kohl (that everyone always raves about and buys back ups of) because it was with the Style Black collection. But on the website, they actually list Smolder as part of the collection. I don’t think Feline is supposed to come out until next week. Anyway, maybe that wasn’t so funny. 😉

Young Punk looks awesome, I got Cinderfella myself 🙂

I stopped by MAC yesterday and was stunned by the e/s. SOO pretty. They did a really great job packing such finely milled glitter into the black shadows.

I picked up the volcanic ash exfoliator because I’ve heard such great things about it and I am an exfoliation junkie. The MA mentioned the thermal mask too but I wanted to see how I like this one first. I am quite excited to shower 😛

I’m the same way – sometimes on weekends I will randomly sleep until like 10am and then I feel off the whole day and the day is gone in a flash! I did walking/jogging intervals on the treadmill. I am hoping to work up to just being able to jog for a while!

Ok I am still working on my MAC cart – I think I’m gonna get the eyeshadow too. Did you have any problems with fallout?

Basically, I am getting everything you used for this look – MAC should thank you, lol!

      Hi Tiffany,

Not if you do your eyes before everything else. If there’s glitter fallout (mine wasn’t too bad; just use a small brush like the 239 to really pack it on), clean it up first before doing concealer/foundation/etc.!

Jogging is such good cardio cause it burns of the calories really quickly! 🙂 One thing you could do is set your sights for a short walk/run race. It might be fun to have something to work toward, ya know?

    Hey Karen,

This looks so pretty on you!

Question: how was application quality for the shadows? I hesitated to get these because I’ve had issues with the Mineralize shadows in the past — they always seemed gritty and hard to blend, with fallout. How are these?

Oh, that is stunning. That sort of color though would look really, really harsh against my pale skin, I think. It looks stunning on you.

I’m spending my Friday thinking of what I’m going to write my essays about. First though, I need to get dressed (it’s nearly 3 PM here) and get my fringe trimmed. It’s too long! It’s getting in my eyes.

But, currently I’m diverting myself by looking at pet costumes for Zena. Would you believe that in the 2.5 years we’ve had her we’ve never dressed her up for Halloween? We never did it with my other dog as she hated sweaters and wouldn’t cooperate but seeing as Zena loves having a sweater on her when the weather chills I figured I’d look at pet costumes.

I’m currently enamored by this one:
    Little Stinker Halloween Costume

I keep laughing whenever I picture in my mind Zena wearing this costume.

I really want to get that Greasepaint Stick. It looks amazing and you wear it well. I’m fair, though, so I don’t know how harsh it will look against my skin.

That trick for hiding dark circles might be one that I’ll have to look into. To hide my dark circles, I put a little bit of Benefit High Beam under my eyes before foundation and after primer. It works, but for how long, I wonder.

I love my black greasepaint stick – I wore it today. I wore the Bat Black CCB with Smut on top – coquette in the crease and arena as my highlighter. I used a combo of black technakohl, smolder and the gresepaint stick as my liner with lots of mascara, ever sun blush and NARS Canaille lipstick with Sweet Revenge gloss on top. I loved my smoky look – it was appropriate for work and still edgy.

I also have Blue Flame but I may exchange it for Young Punk if it hasn’t sold out yet.
