A Glittery Gold MAC Stroke of Midnight Party-Appropriate Face of the Day

October 31st, 2013 by Karen 32 Comments

MAC Stroke of Midnight Face of the Day
It’s a glitter jamboree! — thanks to the new MAC Stroke of Midnight Eye Shadow X 5 Compact in Smoky

Glitter like this deserves more than a night on the couch in the living room eating Mini Snickers waiting for trick-or-treaters and watching old episodes of Long Island Medium on Tivo, but eh — what ya gonna do?

I’ll just pretend I’m at a party. 🙂 Why yes, thank you for asking. I would like to dance. And certainly, I will have one — or three — of those mini Snickers.

I’m wearing a few things here from the new MAC Stroke of Midnight and Nocturnal holiday collections, as well as a couple products from NARS and Urban Decay.

MAC Stroke of Midnight Face of the Day
Also on my eyes: Mulch from the MAC Stroke of Midnight Eyes/Warm palette (my crease and lower lash lines); MAC Fluidline in Blitz and Glitz (upper lash lines) and MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash in Black (my lashes) from the Stroke of Midnight Eye Bag in Gold; Urban Decay Perversion Liner on my waterlines; Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Glitter Liner on the inner part of the lids
MAC Stroke of Midnight Face of the Day
That’s the NARS One Night Stand palette on my cheeks, and MAC Cremsheen Glass in Star Quality from the Nocturnals Mini Gloss Kit in Coral on my lips

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I hope you had a blast tonight. Did you end up going out?

      Hi Reese,

I get this request sometimes. I’m thinking of doing them in the future. 🙂 Just trying to work some details out…

If you have any questions about this look and how to get it, I can answer them right now! Ask away, hopefully I can help.

This look is gorgeous on you Karen! It would be perfect for a New Year’s Eve party or maybe even for a Christmas party. I also love this coral lip gloss set!

      Hi Agata,

Thank you, girlie. 🙂 Happy Friday… did you guys get any trick or treaters last night? I know it was raining out in your neck of the woods.

I really want that glittery paint pot. It’s not available as part of their permanent collection, is it?

We didn’t get a SINGLE trick or treater and it was raining all day. I made my hubby take all the candy to work because those mini chocolate bars are way too tempting 🙂 Did you have a lot of trick or treaters?

It’s LE. I gotta say…the Fluidline that comes with that bag, Blitz & Glitz, is one of my faves. It’s black with tiny gold glitter and very glam! The brush is just okay in a pinch and the mascara’s pretty good. If you buy the bag just for the Paint Pot you do get a lot of useable goodies.

We live up on a hill, and apparently, trick or treaters don’t want to walk up hills. So, the ones that come by are the kids who live in our circle. They all bum rush the door at the same time, so I hook them up with huge handfuls of candy. 🙂 We do have a little bit of candy left over, which I had El Hub hide, haha! Otherwise it would all be gone. Damn those Mini Snickers!

          Are you working today?

Stop tempting me with this set! Can you think of anything similiar to that paint pot? I only use waterproof mascara so I wouldn’t get use of that one…

I am working but I am almost done, another 30 minutes. Also, I had a job interview for a different position at my company, with weekends off (woot! woot) and almost double the pay… I am hoping to get some good news today regarding that…I am so anxious I can barely sit in one place!

No which is why I love it, LOL! It was one of the very first ones I fell in love with (besides Blacktrack) when I started collecting/hoarding them. I mean, if you have a black shade already that you adore then you probably don’t need it. You could press some glitter on top of the black gel liner and call it a day.

Ohmygosh, that’s really exciting! What a great opportunity for you. I hope that you get it. I used to have jobs where I had to work on weekends too and I know how that goes. Nobody ever wants to do anything fun on a Tuesday when you have it off and everybody else seems to have a corporate M-F job. GOOD LUCK! Are there going to be multiple rounds?

I was actually talking about the gold paint pot, not the black fluidline, although it’s pretty too.

No news about my new job today, I hate waiting! But I am still positive! Hopefully I will learn something on Monday…

You look beautiful!! I think it’s very Halloween appropriate. the golden eye bag is stunning! I might have to go get it. I’m a sucker for antique golds.

I’m loving gold and glitter lately! I was planning to do a matte black winged liner with a thin gold line above it for a holiday party look this year. But maybe I’ll go all out and have gold all over the lid!

Nice. I love a fierce cat eye (hellooooo cat lady!) with a bold lip. 🙂

Oooh, how about Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy?

You gotta wear false lashes, too. No exceptions. 😀

How BEAUTIFUL you look ! That has to be the prettiest gold/glam/glitter eye I’ve ever seen – I’d write more, but I have some shopping to do… !

Any fallout with the product ? Even if there is I don’t care – this is my New Year’s Eve look, definitely, so it won’t matter if I have glitter all over…

    Happy Friday !

      Hi FreshEyre,

      Thank you! 🙂

With the MAC Eyeshadow Palette, no. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the eyeshadow kits from this holiday collection. I dunno, sometimes I feel like the holiday stuff isn’t always the same quality as the permanent line, but from the two I’ve tried so far have been great! No fall out and the shades blend beautifully.

The glitter is a liner by Urban Decay called Midnight Cowboy. It stays on like a champ! They have a bunch of colors but that one’s my fave because it’s wearable as far as glitters go.

Have fun shopping! What are you going to get? I need some new jeans.

      Happy Friday!

I’m going to get the MAC Stroke of Midnight Eye Shadow X 5 Compact in Smoky and the Stroke of Midnight Eye Bag in Gold, of course ! They’ll go with my planned holiday look featuring the opalescent/holographic bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in Hypnotist, Marc Jacobs Shameless Bold Blush in Outspoken, and SHISEIDO Luminizing Satin Face Color in Medusa.

…and I may not wait until New Year’s Eve to try this out. There’s always a reason to sparkle, after all.

Good luck with shopping for jeans – let us know what you buy ! I’m partial to Old Navy’s Rockstar – SO skinny and SO cheap !
