“It’s classy. Not trashy!”
You may recall these glistening gems from your last buried treasure discovery…or from the last MAC Holiday collection, but if you don’t, or if you missed out the last time around, grab ye one from the new MAC Get Blazed collection. The glittery, glistening eyeshadows have a metallic base…which may sound a bit frightening if sparkly makeup isn’t your thing, but the glitter doesn’t go overboard, so they’re shockingly chic, fun and wearable (and NOT excessively frosty or ’80s).
Yup, even for daytime.
The trick is to apply them with a soft fluffy brush, and I like the MAC 217 for this. Applied with the 217, the shadows look sheer and shiny, as opposed to metallic, opaque and heavy.
I also like to keep them tight and low on my lids — just on the mobile portion (the part of your eyelid that moves when you blink) — and I don’t take them up too far into the crease.
Next, tightline, and then coat your lashes with loads of mascara.
Et voilà! A fun, fresh look that doesn’t require you to work overtime on your eye makeup.

Each Shiny Pretty Shadow is $21, and my favorite is P for Pink (a rose-gold), but Glitz Please (the mid-toned pink I’m wearing here) is fun, too.

They are lovely colors, though far too sparkly for me! I hope you have a fabulous time at daycare. I hope I don’t always sound like I’m longing for days gone by but, as the kids get older, there are far fewer opportunities to be involved with them at school. I am so glad that I volunteered for every field trip and fun day possible before the boys got into high school. I hope you’ll be able to do the same and that you get just as much joy from it! 🙂
I love the look you did with these shadows! Glittery but totally doable for daytime.
Those shades are pretty. So, going against my comfort zone, I bought one of the NARS duos for a wedding I attended. It’s called Silk Road and the shadows are definitely on the shimmery side. I actually like them, they are rose-gold in tone, the lighter shade being more shimmery. I don’t wear them daily, but I do like to use the shadows as a highlighter, so they kind of multi-task for me. My mom even liked them when I did her makeup. Yes, my lines may show a bit, but that is who I am!
Be well!
I prefer my glittery shades sheered out for daytime too. A fluffy brush, liner and mascara and you look a little extra, but not too dolled up.

I die for MAC’s glittery shadows. They shimmer like no others. This one is really nice too. I’m intrigued.
