MAC Riveting: What Would You Get?

February 5th, 2010 by Karen 50 Comments

WOW! What a MAC-alicious week… And the hits keep coming, too. Mark your calendars for Feb. 18, MAC fans, because that’s the day MAC Riveting rock ‘n rolls into town.

It’ll be a small release compared to Spring Colour Forecast, with just 14 pieces for lips, eyes, cheeks and nails and a familiar ’80s rock goddess vibe that focuses on sculpted cheeks and lush lashes.

What Tabs wants to know is…

What would you get?

Lips

Lipstick in Metal Maven (a pale frosted silver), $14
Lipstick in Bubbles (a sheer pale pinkish white), $14
Lipstick in Riveting (a mid-tone dirty mauve-ish taupe), $14
Lipstick in Show Orchid (a vivid hot pink), $14
Lipglass in Rock Out (a light icy silver with pearl), $14
Lipglass in True Babe (a creamy blueish pink), $14

Eyes

Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack (a true black), $16.50
Lash 48 (false lashes with long, wispy bundles with an even edge), $13

Cheeks

Powder Blush in Full Fuchsia (a bright, iridescent fuchsia), $18.50
Powder Blush in Dirty Plum (a deep plum), $18.50
188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush (a cheek contour brush), $34

Nails

Nail Lacquer in Studded (a matte silver with pearl), $12
Nail Lacquer in Wham, Bam, Glam (a cool dark taupe matte), $12
Nail Lacquer in Black Enough? (a matte black) $12

If you could/had to choose any three things from the collection…

What would you get?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Is it just me or is MAC slightly raising the prices on things nowdays. Usually their blushes are $16 but for this collection its $18.50. :/ Not to mention, my Ripe Peach blush [which I quite love] was $25 but a MSFs around that size are normally $22 right? Hmm, maybe I’m just so strapped for Gs I’m just barely starting to notice XD

This is collection is cute but I doubt I’ll pick anything up. I’ll just wait for those lashes to hit up the outlet 😛

I will be getting dirty plum blush but waiting until the Give me Liberty/London (whatevs) collection in March to get it with special packaging! It will be hard to wait but I’m going to do it.

I kinda sorta want Show Orchid too.

Oops I also meant to say I think the last blushes and MSFs I bought were 18.50 and 27 dollars. I do think 25 for the blush ombres was pretty pricey.

I would get… the Nail Lacquer in Studded (I really want more matte polishes), Lip Glass in True Babe (I love pink lip glosses), and the lipstick in Metal Maven (I think it could look really cool layered with other lipstick).

I have Snow Orchid. Bought it last summer, and it is all kinds of awesome. Looks great with Magenta liner. I was looking for a fuchsia blush last summer, and no one had one. MAC was listening. 🙂 True Plum is the perfect plum blush for winter that I was looking for when I could still shop. Go figure I find it now that I have no dinero. And the nail lacquers also look good for winter but I won’t be wearing those shades in April.

None of these are must have for me, but if in answer to the question I’d choose: the eye liner in Rapidblack, the lipstick in Show Orchid, the nail lacquer in Studded.

Wow!! I like the lippie colors…Show Orchid, Metal Maven and Bubbles! The type of colors for the last 2, though quite pale, has always attracted me…..

and I would get the small duo fiber brush #188 for my MSF.

I like Show Orchid and the True Babe lipglass, and the fuchsia blush… love the bright colours. The Dirty Plum blush looks like a very close match to some Annabelle powder blush I have, which looks awful on me so I’m getting rid of it.

I am new to the world of MAC, but do they always release so many special collections. They’ve done, what, six since the beginning of the year? I would go broke just trying to keep up. I have to pick and choose just what I really want.

Yep– it’s the beast that is MAC. They hook you with Limited Edition stuff so you can’t put off purchasing for fear of it selling out!! However, Christine does a good job of letting you know what items are actual LE’s, what are perms, and what are repromotes. Like in this collection, Show Orchid and Full Fushia are perm at Pro stores. If you’re wanting something Limited or a repromote, I’d suggest purchasing those first, as you can buy the other stated from the pro website or store anytime you like.

Hmmm. I’d go with… the 188 (I’m not thrilled with my current skunk and would like a smaller diameter), Studded nail polish, and… maybe either Riveting lipstick or Rock Out lipglass, I’m not sure. This collection is a little louder than my normal look so I’m not sure how much wear I’d get out of the items, but I could totally rock the polish on weekends, and lip products are soooo flexible.

purple blush seems to be a trend-let this season. i’m very into how 80s and blade runner the idea of it is. I do wonder how many people could pull it off in real life though…I’m also very interested to see how the lip products swatch.
