MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Video Review & Swatches

December 16th, 2015 by Karen 31 Comments

Swatching all of these new MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour lipsticks yesterday was an adventure because they’re CRAZY pigmented. They’re liquid mattes, which means they can be a little drying (purr usual), or SUPER drying when it comes to my super sensitive lips, especially after applying and removing 15 of them, but with good lip prep beforehand, you should be fine.

After all, only crazy people put on 15 liquid lipsticks one after another.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

$20 US each/$24 CAD
Available January 7, 2016 at all MAC locations (permanent line)

  • Fashion Legacy – an intense fire truck red
  • Feels So Good – a deep true red
  • High Drama – a deep, dark plum
  • Dance with Me – a deep cranberry red
  • Lady-Be-Good – a warm mid-ton nude
  • Tailored to Tease – a bright fuchsia
  • Oh, Lady – a deep wine
  • Recollection – an intense bright violet
  • Quite the Standout – a bright orange-red
  • To Matte With Love – a bright raspberry
  • Personal Statement – a shocking pink
  • Divine-Divine – a light creamy pink
  • Mademoiselle – a bright creamy coral
  • Back in Vogue – a peachy nude
  • Rich & Restless – a mid-tone pinky salmon

As always, thank you for watching! 🙂

Karen

YES!!! These are a dream come true!
I love my regular Retro Mattes (Ruby Woo and All Fired Up), but I think that on special occasions, when I really want to be 100% sure my lipstick won’t smudge or get on my teeth, nothing beats a liquid lipstick!

    You are so cute there!

What would you say are the most unique colors in this collection, I have no idea where to start.

I wondered how your lips must have felt when watching the video. 15 lipsticks is a lot! But the dance moves you put in were too cute!

I love the finish! Good to hear they glide so smoothly across the lips. Quite The Standout definitely stands out, wowza! I just don’t know if my lips can handle the slight dryness at the moment though… 🙁

I think you may have confused the word “crazy” with “dedicated”. HAHA! This time of year is a constant battle for me with my dry lips so I rarely wear anything but balm. 🙂

Oh, I love when you do all those different faces when you’re showing the colours! So cute when you showed Divine! :))

Hope you gave your lips some TLC after that video session – 15 drying shades after one another – yikes! Mine might have shrivelled up in sympathy. I can’t with those mattes – not for me!

Oh man, the reds and intense pinks in this collection look so beautiful. I guess I will need to try one. I usually don’t like the feel of liquid lipsticks, part of it is how long they take to dry. I love all the reds on you!! Thanks for going to bat and swatching all of these for us!

      Hi Tatiana,

These dry SO fast, you’ll be surprised how quickly they set. You’ll love the reds, by the way… ALL OF THEM! I would wear one today but my lips are still recovering, lol.

    Hi Karen,
Any details about how much product is in each tube? I’m very interested to see how it compares to Stila/KVD liquid lipsticks with the amount of product, and pricing, etc.
    Thanks!

The darker colors are fyah! I think I have close dupes of all of them though. I miss just swatches in your posts Karen! Easier for me to make color choices! I always use you as a reference.
