MAC Mirage Noir Collection for Summer 2018: Pics, Swatches and My First Look Using the Products

May 7th, 2018 by Karen 23 Comments

mac mirage noir collection
Here’s the look I’m wearing today to test three things from the new MAC Mirage Noir collection — Sun Speck Eye Shadow, Delphic Bronzer and Face and Body Foundation in Light Pearl. More looks coming soon.

Serious question for you: is this “bronzed peach” look too glam for a ketchup run? — because from among the list of “things that go well on BBQ,” I do believe that ketchup is the least fancy of them all. FOR SURE, the fanciest has to be dijon mustard, because — hi — if something can be prefaced with a word en français, it’s officially fancy. 🙂

Speaking of my limited high school French, can anyone out there confirm what Mirage Noir means? Is it “black illusion”?

Pics and swatches coming at’cha…

You’re right about the meaning of Mirage Noir. I really do like the vibe of this collection. The promo pics are very 80s, right?

I could look like a bronzed goddess with this launch! Delphic is tempting. I’m going to have to compare that to whisper of gilt in store to see which will be more versatile for summer. And the pearl Face and Body! That’s calling me too! You are looking smashing in that tomato orange tee. You look like summer!

      Hi Kelly,

You could totally do that! Delphic doesn’t have the shimmer and isn’t as light as Whisper of Gilt. It’s more of a straight up bronzer than a highlighter! It’s lovely and I wish they would make it permanent.

Karen–is the face and body foundation able to be worn as foundation, or is it more of a highlighter?

      Hi Amanda,

You can do either. I would be hesitant about using it alone as a face foundation though, since the pearl would highlight pores and whatnot (which is why I like to add just a little bit to my regular Face and Body Foundation). I think it would be an awesome highlighter for legs, arms and shoulders though!

They do have a fruity vibe to them! If it were edible the purple would be faux grape. LOL!

BTW I have a new Chanel Blush obsession. I know nothing can tear you away from Malice but Rose Bronze is the stuff.

Is rose bronze permanent? I hope so. Malice and elegance are my all time blush faves but I noticed the only counter I have stopped carrying malice 🙁 I bought a back up at some other place I was surprised even sold Chanel. Ha! Best blushes ever.

Are the Lip Glasses super sticky? They always look so pretty on the lips but I hate super sticky glosses!

      Hi Kristen,

The reformulated Lipglasses are a little sticky (but not as sticky as they were back in the day). I don’t mind it so much… I think I mind the weight of the gloss more. They are substantially heavy, so it feels like you’re wearing product. Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

    Hi Karen, you look great!
How do you find the colour of the Baiana Bronze as a bronzer/soft contour on your skin tone? We wear the same studio fix shade and I was considering Give Me Sun after reading one of your previous posts. How do you find the 2 colours, which do you prefer for this purpose?

Thanks Charms (cute handle, by the way). You could totally do a soft contour with it (and I think it would be even better compared to Give Me Sun for that seeing how it has a touch more gray), although I think if you went in heavily with this as an overall bronzer it might look kinda muddy, if that makes sense. Which one are you leaning toward?

Is everything in this collection limited edition? I HOPE the face and body foundations aren’t! ?? I need them in my life forever!

      Hi Nicole,

Although Twig is a repromote, I’m guessing the rest is limited edition as that’s how it typically is with summer releases. There’s always a chance they could be added to the permanent line, but that usually takes some time.

Do you find the foundation would be too light for lighter skin tones?

Hi Karen! I’ve fallen in love with your makeup reviews ever since I came across your blog. Could you think of another MAC dupe for Dust Off? It looks pretty similar to dazzlelight/nylon/shroom.

You’re so sweet, Cristina. Thank you for reading the site!

Dust Off is like Shroom but a touch chunkier. Not as shimmery as Nylon though. If you have either one of those I think you can pass on it. 🙂 Let me know if you have any other questions!
