MAC Magic, Mirth and Mischief: A Shimmery Blue, Silver and Peach Face of the Day

TGIF, my little Sasha Fierce!

Sorry, couldn’t resist. :)I’ve had Beyonce’s I Am Sasha Fierce CD on repeat today…

Ms. Fierce is Beyonce’s sensually aggressive stage alter-ego, and since I was feeling a little *fierce* today myself, I thought I’d explore the concept with this silver, blue and peach face of the day.

It incorporates tidbits from MAC’s recent Magic, Mirth and Mischief.

I used the Surprise Me face chart as a loose guide, adapting it to work a little better with my skin tone.

The blue comes courtesy of MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Blue Sorcery (that’s it above), and the peach lips from Dazzleglass in Phiff! and MAC’s Lipstick in Surprise Me.

On my cheeks, I added a pinch of peach with the Hocus Focus Colourful Face Kit from MAC Holiday 2009…

To round things out, some oldies but goodies from MAC’s permanent line — Paint Pot in Painterly, Eyeshadow in Arena and their Lip Pencil in Spice.

What do you think? Am I ready for my Friday night out with Tabs (today was his pay day)? 🙂

What about the Blue Sorcery duo? Yay or nay? I’m mostly yay (love the blue shadow) but not all too crazy about the fallout from the silver side (it left a blizzard of silver glitter all over my face!).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. What’s on the agenda for tonight? Here at MBB HQ the fun never stops, LOL! I’m on my way to Sears to buy vacuum bags. Look out, world!

This shadow is stunning! I’m not a fan of all the crazy glitter either, but nobody’s perfect! I have a similar shadow by Lancome, it’s a really pretty turqoise. Now that yes, could be considered perfect 😀
Loving the look Karen, you’ll be turning lots of heads over at Sears!

I love Blue Sorcery! It’s so pretty, but I agree I don’t like the silver side. I was thinking of using it as a tearduct color more so than anything else.

You look lovely and turquoise suits you. I am all for blue eyeshadows blended with the right colours. I love Blue Sorcery and wore it 3 times since I got it. The last time I wore it, I used Devil May Care with it with MAC Copperplate in the crease; for cheeks I wore Fun and Games; and lips I used Sublime Shine Dazzleglass Creme. I have pictures up for that look. As for the chunky silver side, try spraying your brush with MAC Fix + and use Bare Study Paint Pot underneath as a primer, I find that it reduces the fallout quite a bit.

The more turquoise-y blue looks AMAZING… but I agree, I’m not really a fan of the lighter shade, either. Either way, you look great! Stunningly awake and alert (the exact opposite of how I feel right now, haha)

Go rock the socks off the Sears employees =D

I think it looks great on you, but I hate hate HATE how MAC does that weird thing with their holiday mineralized shadow and put in that one weird stripe/patch/cresent/whatever-shaped element in it that just spills glitter all over your face. Not cool. But yeah, looks great on you!

You look great as always. That lip color is stunning.

This weekend will be a relaxing one. I realized that I won’t have any free weekends from now until the end of the year so I am on a mission to clean my apt and get rid of things that I don’t need or want anymore. Donate them if possible. Should’ve done this when I moved to SF but didn’t And guess what… I still have a box or two to unpack… after almost 10 months of being in SF.

    Have a great weekend!

I’m eh on the duo. Me and fallout don’t mix.

What was Tabs’ payday? More Kibble?

My plans tonight is to gear up for tomorrow. Tomorrow is Essay day, i.e. time to stop procrastinating and start working.

In other news, I went to see the hand/wrist orthopaedic surgeon today. CTS (aka Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) is officially out, thank God. This means no painful nerve conduction test, yay! I officially have hyper-elasticity in both wrists. I’ve been condemned to go to rehab for fluidotherapy, desensitization and wrist strengthening twice a week for month.

Did I mention I loathe physical therapy? I was so happy to graduate that when I was nine after nine years of therapy once a week. I am not looking forward to going back to p/t.

You still have bag vacuum? Mine died in 2004. We went through 3 bagless models before we got the Dyson. That is one lean, mean, Zena-fur-sucking machine. I love me Dyson.

Hi Karen! I like this makeup, few years ago I used to wear it too, sometimes even like a smoky eye combination, but since my eyeshadow was over I didn’t bother to buy a new one in the same shade :p

I love the look! The turquoise blue eye is so lovely and you wear it so well! I’d prolly try to use one of my other million-and-one bluey-green (or greeny-blue) shadows to recreate it though, I’m just not really a fan of MAC’s mineralize shadows!

I wish MAC would figure it out when it comes to their mineralize eyeshadows, they’re terribly inconsistent 🙁

I bought the Blue Sorcery eyeshadow a couple weeks ago and I bought it on a whim. I did do a swatch at the counter and fell in love with it so I didn’t think I would have a problem when I got home. The next day I was sadly mistaken. It took me 20 minutes just to figure out how to use the silver, and in the end I never even used it. I HATE the fact that it has so much fallout, it’s kind of useless. I do have to say I am in LOVE with the teal side. If anybody finds out how to use the silver side, feel free to let me know cause I’m stuck.

So do I. I’m usually more into neutrals and conservative colors, but I try to let myself go buck wild with brights from time to time.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
