A Monday MAC Face of the Day With a Few of My Current Obsessions: Costa Riche Liner, Cantaloupe Blush and Heroine Lipstick

December 16th, 2013 by Karen 26 Comments

MAC Heroine Lipstick and Costa Riche Liner
It’s MAC Heroine Lipstick to the rescue!!

Do you ever feel like putting every piece of makeup that you’re currently obsessed with (in other words, everything and the kitchen sink) on your face at the same time?

Yeah…that’s kind of what happened to me here, LOL!

I’ve got a major crush on MAC Costa Riche (please don’t let it be discontinued, please don’t let it be discontinued, please don’t let it be discontinued…), so that’s what I based my makeup on today. I’m wearing it here on my lower lash and water lines.

MAC Heroine Lipstick and Costa Riche Liner
Cheeks are MAC Cantaloupe Blush, MAC Give Me Sun Mineralize Skinfinish (under the cheek bone) and MAC Shaping Powder in Accentuate (to highlight); I’m also wearing the MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters in Bright Forecast (under-eye area, with MAC Pro Longwear Concealer on top) and Radiant Rose (down the bridge of my nose and on my upper cheekbones)

With Costa Riche being a warm-toned brown, I also busted out a few of my favorite MAC browns in the same vein, namely Bamboo, Saddle and Swiss Chocolate, which I think are great mattes to wear in the crease if you like warm reddish and orangey browns (cool-toned gals, check out MAC Wedge and Omega; also very pretty).

So…you might remember Swiss Chocolate from last week’s MAC stress shopper’s diary. I’m actually wearing a bunch of stuff from that same vid, like the two Prep + Prime Highlighters, Shaping Powders and MAC Cantaloupe Blush, too.

See, told ya! Everything and the kitchen sink. 🙂

I’m starting to believe that every gal (and blush-loving boy) needs Cantaloupe in their life. It’s like the perfect balance of peach and coral, and it always seems to brighten my look, without competing with whatever else I may be wearing.

Definitely worth a swatch next time you visit a MAC Pro Store. I think it’ll be a lovely spring/summer shade.

Last, but not least, those lips! The star attraction: MAC Heroine Lipstick, a powerfully opaque purple matte from a previous collection, but recently added to the MAC permanent line. It’s available now on counters and at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Heroine Lipstick
MAC Heroine Lipstick
MAC Heroine Lipstick and Costa Riche Liner
MAC Ricepaper layered underneath MAC Vanilla on my brow bone, MAC Bamboo and MAC Saddle in the crease, MAC Swiss Chocolate on the lids, and MAC Ricepaper in the inner corner

Now, if you feel like this level of purple pigment is a little OTT for you, you could always swap it out for a neutral lip instead, like this one here…

MAC Costa Riche Liner
Same look with different lips: Too Faced Taffy La Creme Lipstick and Perfect Lips Liner in Perfect Spice; MAC Smolder Eye Kohl topped with MAC Carbon on the upper lash lines, MAC Costa Riche on the water lines and lower lash line, and Chanel Inimitable Mascara in 10 on the upper and lower lashes

Anyone else out there wearing warm-toned browns today? Or something bolder? I wonder if we were on the same wavelength… Whatever you’re rockin’, let me know in the comments.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Hope you’re having a great Monday. 🙂

I love this look Karen! I always feel like putting everything I’m obsessed with on at once, and I’m always into wearing warm browns. I just love them!

whoa! i just saw that on the MAC site! too bold for me. i might check out the too faced lip that you’re rockin!

oh, karen! the MUA at MAC did a wonderful job on my face for The Man’s holiday party. i had fake lashes and all! but to be honest, i kinda felt like a drag queen with all that make up on. :/

i’m going to practice filling in my brows the way she did, and to practice the eye shadow. i can finally use my hello kitty eye brushes!

i bought “warm soul” mineralize blush and i’m having second thoughts, due to price. i think i found something similar (neutrogena “natural glow” blush/bronzer), but am still on the fence about returning the MAC one. would you know a good dupe, or something really close to MAC’s mineralize in warm soul?

oh, karen. you have no idea how much more products i have in our bathroom cabinet. i have accumulated a good collection over the past two weeks. (sales galore!) and i have some sephora items waiting for me at my sister’s.

yowzer. ok. hope monday was kind to you, karen!

    Whoo that purple is HOT!

I caved to the MAC free shipping offer last week and got the pro shaping powders in Warm Light and Lightsweep, which I just received today. I hurried and swiped some of the lightsweep over the cheeks and it’s pure radiance!!! I love it so much already, and even the fiance (who never ever notices my beautiful makeup creations) had to remark that I looked ‘glowing’!!!

I also got Sable eyeshadow and am not totally sure what to do with it yet. Any ideas?

Cheers to a luminous Monday evening!! 🙂

Wow, Karen – you look stunning ! I just love that color on you ! I don’t know yet if I’d be able to pull it off the way you do but I’m certainly going to try. I’m off to my closest MAC counter to make a date with Heroine !

I just ordered my first Heroine lipstick from Mac today, and was wondering what kind of makeup to wear with it. I love red and orangey browns too, so this is perfect. Can’t wait to try it!

    O_O

    Fantastic look!
I love how it all came together. And Heroine looks great on you.
This is definitely one of my favorite looks ever, very inspiring.

I’m a big fan of purple lipstick too, but I wear it with a pretty bare face. I do use a peachy blush sometimes though, like you did in this look.

Ah man *swoon* please wear this everyday (…kidding).

Oh, wow — I LOVE this look, Karen! With Heroine, without it… it’s really beautiful either way.

I haven’t worn a matte chocolate eye in forever, but you always make me want to put on eye makeup 😀

You totally look like a superhero wearing Heroine! Then again, you do look pretty super with the neutral lip, too. Just goes to show that you can wear any lip color. 🙂

That purple lip is MAJOR. Just stunning. I’ve been searching for the perfect purple pout so that’s one to try when we finally get it in London http://wonderlusting.co.uk/2013/05/11/in-pursuit-of-the-perfect-purple-pout-part-ii/

I love this look! Sometimes I have a little trouble trying to figure it out if some shades of lipsticks are ONLY for fall, like deep purples or dark shades of burgundy or specially this holiday season, seems like red is in every single makeup collection. I got “Heroine” since “Reel sexy collection” and I have used it only a couple of times. Seems like magenta and different shades of magenta are going to be big thing next year.

I love the application of the brown eyeshadow Karen <3. It's so pretty, specially the shade of the one closer to your lashline in the center. I'm so in love. And the Costa Riche looks just perfect. So pretty!

MAN, I always think brown eyes are boring until I see them on someone else. LOL I love the way you’re rocking the browns and I agree the color closest to your lash is dynamic.

I’m loving the lip color too. It almost looks like the Pantone color of the year for 2014 huh?

    ANyway… love your posts Girl!
