MAC Cosmetics Woodwinked Pink and Gold Face of the Day

Shhh… I have a secret beauty tip. If you ever wake up looking like an extra in Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, reach for MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow ($14). Its warm, golden shimmer restores life to dead tired eyes.

And good thing it does because I needed it this morning. I was CRANKY! I haven’t slept well this week and for the third day in a row woke up looking like a zombie. When it got time for me to get ready for work, I really wanted to just leave my ratty hair uncombed, throw on some sweats and skip my makeup altogether (gasp!).

But I knew that walking around like that all day long would have made me feel even worse, so I threw on a dress and picked up my pan of Woodwinked.

Fifteen minutes later, zombie girl had left the building. Woodwinked made my eyes look bright, alert and awake. Easy, and fewer calories than a latte.

The basic eye…

  1. MAC Shroom eyeshadow applied directly beneath the highest point in the arch of each eyebrow
  2. MAC Neutral Pink eyeshadow on the browbone
  3. MAC Saddle eyeshadow in the crease
  4. MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow on the lid, barely into the crease and along the lower lash line
  5. MAC Kitschmas Pigment on the inner third of the eye (side closer to the nose)
  6. MAC Technakohl liner in Graphblack on the upper and lower waterlines

Look at you, glamor girl! You look hawt! Not at all zombie-esque! When I’m feeling run-down I like to put Stila’s Kitten in the inner corners and use a cheery pink lip gloss like Chanel’s Astral or Imaginaire!

    Hi Glosslizard,

Thanks! Maybe I should’ve put a before picture to show the complete un-zombification. Then again, I try to avoid scaring unsuspecting beauty blog surfers, LOL.

Oh – and everybody looks hot when there’s a fan blowing on ’em! Gawd, I love that thing.

I still don’t have my Astral. *pouts*

How was your day? I am about to watch a movie and then hopefully pass out.

    Hi KK,

Thanks hon! Yeah, girl, that’s the fan in action. Talk about a miracle worker… I wish I could have that thing follow me throughout the day so I would never have a tow up moment, LOL!

My friend LOVES Dandelion and Dallas. When I use her bathroom I sneak some on my cheeks sometimes!

I am SO ready for Friday. Doing anything fun this weekend?

Shut up! This is one of the best looks you’ve posted. You look like a diva! Where’d you get the funky-pattered dress?

I just got back from Vegas with some goodies from Sephora. I updated my makeup with Nars Orgasm blush and gloss and Benefit Bad Gal mascara, which are all classics. But my favorite purchase was Too Faced Emotionally Charged Lip Gloss. It appears clear when it comes out of the tube, but the moment it hits your lips it adjusts to your “perfect shade” based on your mood. On the side of the box is the interpretation of each shade, such as “Hot and Bothered.” The color comes out so bright and fun. Plus, it’s more like a stain so the color lasts a while. I think you’d love it, Karen!

    Hi Amanda P.,

Thanks! I got that dress couple of years ago from some random store in Fillmore St in SF. 🙂

I’m intrigued by your gloss! I wonder what my shade would be if I tried it on right now (“Sleepy and Tired”? LOLOLOLOZ). I will make a note to try it on when I go to Sephora. (Hopefully this weekend!)

I use Chanel Biphase liquid eyeshadow in Cascade. It is slivery white, and the best thing is, it is water soluble but it does not slide or fade on my eyelids all day. Powder eyeshadow can be layered on it too!

    Hi Bridget!

That is one of the things that bugs me, too. I bought a quad from L’oreal a few months ago called “Aishwarya Greens” and when I applied the shadows they weren’t as vibrant as they were in the pan. What helped for me was to put a base underneath it. like MAC Pearl. Another thing that is easy (and cheap) that I like to do is wet my brush with water before I swipe the brush across the pan. This seems to intensify the color a lot!

Ohhhh you took Rimmel Jungle Green out for a spin! It is a HOT color for nights out, right? What did you pair it with?

    Hi Chess,

Fo’ reals! I love that fan!

Woodwinked is such an amazing shade. You don’t really need those other colors, either, if you’re feeling too lazy. Sometimes I just put it on my lid and underneath my lower lash line, and then tightline the upper and lower water line with Graphblack and I’m out the door. It’s easy and will make you look easily undead, LOLOLOL!

Do you have a fave product that you use after sleepless nights?

Yeah, I really enjoyed my little break from being online. You get more time to yourself, it’s surprising how fast time flies when online.

Yup, had fun at my aunt’s! We have a 30-year age difference but it doesn’t feel that big at all. Most of the time we get along really well. 🙂

Yeah, the shoes are the highest I can go. I still feel a lil’ wobbly when walking in them, but I guess that’s the name of the game, lol. Still got one week time to learn, the party is May 31.

    Hi Karen!
First things first, girl your blog ROCKS! I am addicted.

Okay, this post was perfect–I JJJJJUSTTTTT reordered another Woodwinked (in the pan, cuz I have the big ole palette and have 3 more spaces to fill) bc, get this….I *had* one, but lost it! How can I lose an eyeshadow? I mean that sucka is gone. I searched and searched. So now it’s on it’s woodywinky way back to me and I’m going to be a zombie no more!!

I also love MAC Nylon, for the inner corners— instant pulse for me on those mornings when I wake up looking like the undead.

Keep up the beautiful work, I really do truly love the HECK outta your blog, I visit it every single day from down here in San Diego.

I can’t even tell that you barely had any sleep. Woodwinked is awesome! I think I’ll try that next time I lose a few hours of Zs. Normally I just curl my eyelashes and put 1 coat of mascara. That usually does it for me.

    Hi Karen

I apply the Chanel liquid eyeshadow with my fingers. It’s easy to apply and can be on its own or as a base, layering on it powder eyeshadow. I like to add powder eyeshadow and depending on the shade of the liquid eyeshadow, the final outcome becomes more intense/brighter.

The best part is that it washes almost completely off with water (together with the powder that you layer on top). I can just use a little makeup remover to remove the left over shiny speckles.

This weekend I am working on a story. We have a long holiday weekend, which is nice, because then I’ll hopefully be able to sneak in some fun time. It’s very gloomy and overcast today so I don’t feel so bad about staying in. How about you?

OH! I don’t have Nylon. Must put that on the list. 🙂
