Have You Tried Any of These MAC Technakohl Liners?

April 8th, 2010 by Karen 53 Comments

I’ll just come out and say it: I love the MAC Technakohl liners ($14.50).

They glide like skates on my waterline and stay put all day long. I’ve been using two of them pretty much nonstop for a month, Graphblack and Brownborder, so when I stopped by a MAC Pro Store last week I decided to grab a few more: Smoothblue (a shimmery ocean blue), Earthline (a shimmery grayish brown) and Uniform (a khaki green with golden pearl).

Anyhoo, just thought you’d like to see swatches. Do you have these or any of the other Technakohl liners? How do you feel about ’em?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Green is magical with brown eyes! So are blues and purples. 🙂

Earthline looks almost purplish here! Does that translate in real life or is it more of a true gray brown?

It does have a little bit of purple. My skin tends to bring out purples and blue though, so it might not be as amplified on your skin.

🙁 I’ve been looking for a dupe to a discontinued VS purple shade. They revamped the line and the plum they have now is too blue! I’ll probably go and check this out, it looks beautiful in the swatch!

Are these three shades exclusive to the PRO shop or are they at all stores/locations? They are they at all locations?

You can buy them at regular MAC stores, counters and online. Click the links above — they’ll take you directly to the items on the MAC website.

I was hoping to find one of these colors across the street from my office at the Company Store -boo but they do have the pearlglide liners in Raven and Black Russian – 2 colors I have always wanted…

These are beautiful! I LOVE the blue color I just don’t know if I could pull it off for everyday wear! The earthline shade is also beautiful, from the picture it kinda looks the covergirl exact eye bright liner that I have for green eyes (i think thats what the covergirl liner is called but i could be wrong)… I might have to stop by MAC and check these out!

Gosh I loooooove uniform; it’s my staple don’t-have-time-for-anything-else look. I find browns a bit blah and blacks too harsh, this is a perfect in-between shade. And it looks wicked as a liner for a brown or green EOTD. I go through one of these every year or so.

My other faves are the navy blue and the plum one, I think the plum’s discontinued but the navy blue lives on. 😀 Let me know what you think of them, I’m curious!

a wash of all that glitters, or naked lunch + sumptuous olive. Mostly though I wear Uniform all by itself, it’s easy and interesting enough that I can amp up the lips and not worry about the eyes that day.

    Hi Karen!

I’ve been lurking for a while! I just had a quick question… how do these eyeliners compare with the UD eyeliners? I just tried one a few months ago and loved them!

These are a little harder than the UD ones… I like them, though, because the point is very thin, so I don’t have to keep sharpening them. They’re fantastic for backing the lashes or hitting the waterline!

    Hey Karen!

I don’t know why, but I have never bought any of these! But now that you say they really last on the waterline, I think I will check them out.

It’s my never ending mission to find a liner (other than Blacktrack) that stays. I have naturally watery eyes and allergies, so it’s hard!

I love earthline! Try it with you Nars Kalahari duo – it’s one of my favorite combos! Earthline looks like it definitely pulls more purple on you skin, but on me it’s more of a taupe. It is one of my favorite mac products and I’ve probably gone through 3 or 4 since they first brought out the technakohls a few years back.

I’ve never bought any of these, I am really tempted to get smoothblue when I’m next at a counter, it looks perfect for laying down something even brighter on top! I’ve always had trouble keeping liners on the waterline but I’m so giving this a go!

Uniform and Earthline look very pretty and wearable for everyday basics. I should pick up a few of these. I have only used the Technakohl liner in Full of Fuchsia and I use it on my lips for the perfect hot pink matte/cream lip, but not on my eyes.

I own Smoothblue, and I love waterlining with it for a pop of colour on otherwise boring, everyday eyes. Brownborder is another great brown for neutral, toned down eyes too. Especially since I’m a blonde, pale gal with transparent lashes!
