    Hi Karen!

I’m pretty pale, so I reach for Nylon and Bronze a lot – Nylon as highlight just under the arch, Bronze all over lid and on lower lash line with an eyeliner brush. It’s my easy, no-thinking-required combo that goes with anything! Great for Mondays. 🙂

Hope you’re having a good Saturday!

I love these kind of posts! Great tips… I never thought to wear Shroom with Woodwinked. I usually pair Woodwinked with Ricepaper so I definitely want to try your suggestion. What are the differences between saddle and soft brown? Do you think one could work with both sable and club? I have Texture which is more orange so I don’t know if that would work. And you totally have me interested in Club now! I must run and get it! 🙂

Do you find that the green in Club actually shows up on your lids? Mine looks amazing in the pan, and when I first apply it, but later in the day it’s just brown. Sob.

I have very light skin with some pink undertones but I dye my hair black so I don’t really like to wear brown shadows (I just feel like they clash with my hair I know its stupid lol) so I love to put a light layer of Yogurt down on my entire eye upper and lower lids and then I put Da Bling all over my lower lid. I finish it off with dark black liner on my upper lid only a couple coats of mascara and I’m good to go!

You are so CUTE! I love your videos, they are not long but very informative. You’ve seen my quad and notice Amber Lights and Warm Chill, right? That is my go-to combo: Warm Chill on the lid and as a highlighter plus Amber Lights on the crease. It is a very simple but elegant look, thanks to Amber Lights.

I need to check Club e/s out after all of your raves. And you need to get Amber Lights, I promise you will fall in love with it!

    Hi Katherine,

Your look sounds really pretty. I love those “Monday” looks that never let you down!

I don’t have either of those shades (I wonder if they’ll work for me, hmmm) so next time I’m at MAC I’ll check ’em out.

So far my Saturday has been chill. I haven’t been sleeping well, and I woke up early again this morning, so I think I’m gonna spend some quality time napping.

    How’s your day been?

    Hi Audrey,

I do the Woodwinked/Ricepaper combo, too!

Saddle is darker than Soft Brown, and a little more intense. I like it for when I want more definition in the crease. I think both either would totally work with Sable or Club. 🙂

Oh, I don’t have Texture! How do you like it?

    Hi Holly,

Yup, the green shows up in certain angles. Hmm, have you tried layering it beneath a green cream shadow? How about Delft Paint Pot?

    Hi RetroRiotGrrrl,

I love the dramatic look of dark hair against pale skin. Gorgeous!

I don’t have Da Bling… I just looked it up on the MAC site and it looks like a beautiful shade. I got a thing for pinks so this might have to come home with me when I visit the MAC counter next.

    Hi Dao,

Your ELF palette is totally cute. I love that you added a pop of blue in there, too.

Now Amber Lights is calling me, LOL!

I am thinking Amber Lights just might work with Club, too. 😉

I loved Woodwinked! It’s such a versatile color. For work when I’m in a hurry, I usually use it with Arena. They’re my two first Mac shadows. I put Arena on my lid and Woodwinked in on my outer V and a little on the outer crease. I also do the same thing with Arena and Sketch if I want a purply dark color on my outer V and outer crease (at least that’s how Sketch shows up for me).

Hi Karen! I love reading your blog and watching your videos…you are so much fun. My next MAC eyeshadow purchase will definitely have to be Club!

Lately I’ve been using Phloof! and Satin Taupe eyeshadows.

My base is always Mylar, and I usually fluff a little Cork into the crease. I seldom use real eyeliner anymore — I usually use a small angle brush and a darker color like Mystery. The line is a little softer, gets down into the lashline nicely, and I can quickly blend it into something else if I screw up or change my mind. 😉

My favorite cool combo is Copperplate and Vex. I never thought I could wear blue (blue eyes), but I picked up Meet the Fleet and LOVE it as a liner, especially with Copperplate and Vex.

Hi Karen, this is my first time commenting, but I have to say how much I LOVE your blog. Your videos are my favorite, I’ve already started using so many techniques you’ve shared with us and have found them to be a big help.

My favorite MAC shade by far is Bronze. I am addicted to that one. I love to pair it with Amber Lights (a little goes a long way) for more of a dramatic look.

I like Texture a lot! I discovered it on this blog – a MAC MUA recommended using Texture to blend out Contrast for a more natural effect. My eyelid is kind of hooded so I don’t get quite the same effect but I still like it.

OK, now I might have to get Amber Lights too, darn it.

    Hey Karen,

Your Saturday sounds like mine – I didn’t leave the house at all today except to go eat dinner, ha ha! I’m sorry you haven’t been sleeping well – that’s a terrible feeling. Hopefully you got a nap or two in today!

Nylon and Bronze are two of my staples. Nylon looks almost neutral on me because I’m so pale and freckled, but it’s actually a really pretty light shimmery gold. It’s actually my most-used MAC shadow out of my two 15-shadow palettes. It’s multi-purpose; looks great as a highlight on brows and inner corners, but also looks fab as an all over wash with fierce black liquid liner.

    Hi Karen!

I love this video blog…I really love the neutral and brown shadows, mainly because I am scared to try color! I have been using sable and phloof, they are both frost, so they have quite a bit of shimmer to them. I have been wanting to try something more matte so this was very helpful. Also, I was wondering if anyone has tried the NYX brand shadows? I hear they are really cheap, have a lot of pigment, and are comparable to Mac shadows. Just curious, in this economy a cheaper alternative would be awesome!

Hi Karen! This is one of my favorite videos 🙂 I’m a new MAC fan and only have a few of their shadows. One of the combos I like to use for work is Woodwinked and Club, based on a past FOTD you did. I can’t wait to add to my collection and try these other looks you recommend 🙂

Oh, and I totally agree with you on Club. It’s such a unique and pretty shade. You must find yours! lol, hope you find it soon.

Oh, my comment is so late, but:

    1. Blanc Type (lid and brow) and Omega (crease)
    2. Nanogold (lid and brow) and Remotely Grey (aaaah LE)

I love these two in particular because I prefer a big lip.

    Hi karen,
Cute video and yes love me some Club too! I like this trio bare study paint pot on lid – arena shadow on top of that and sketch in the corner ‘v’ of my eye and i just top off with black liner on my top lid and lots of plush lash!

also, i’ve been using soba lots as my crease when i just use bare study/rubenesque/birthday suit as my lid color!

Ok,so it’s not really a duo, but a trio…I wear it to work and get tons of compliments. I apply Jest all over lid and all the way up to the brow. Then, I apply Parfait Amour on lid only and then Shadowy Lady in the crease. I also line the top and bottom with liquid black liner, but I soften the bottom liner with Plum pencil over top. Looks great and professional too! ps: don’t forget black mascara!
