Ya know…some days you just feel like a fire engine ? red on your lips. A blazingly bold, no-questions-asked red that doesn’t pussyfoot around — a red that isn’t a beige red, or a pinkish red. It isn’t a coral or brown. It’s just really, really, really red.
MAC Fashion Legacy Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour ($21, and one of 28 shades) is that kind of red.
The Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours have a mousse-y consistency, and they’re thicker than many other liquid lipsticks. They’re also great for long work days, after-work parties, weddings, proms and other big events because you won’t have to retouch them every 15 minutes. Basically, they last long (it’s one of the perks of a liquid lipstick), and you can apply them without a lip pencil.
Fashion Legacy is one of my “going out” reds because it’s bright and opaque and festive and ??? fun. And it goes well with anything, ESPECIALLY black winged liner and long lashes (including falsies, if you can put them on without poking your eye out…WHICH I ALMOST DID ONCE, OMG!).
By the way, if you’re in the mood for something disco, it also looks fabulous under a coat of shiny, clear gloss.

Wow this one is very… red? It’s a fierce and fun color, but I’d have to be really careful what I pair it with (hair, outfit…). I’m thinking all black and a ponytail.

That is a red red. Great color.
Gorgeous red. Too bad it’s a liquid lipstick. I have yet to find one where I like the feel of them on my lips.
I finally got enough nerve up to attempt applying false lashes. (To go with a dramatic red lippie) For some reason I couldn’t get the inner corners to stick. And for the outer corners the glue just felt tacky the whole time. Good thing I was just hanging out at home.
You always wear the bold reds well. 🙂 This definitely looks warm and orangey to me, but it could certainly be my monitor.
