Product Spotlight: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow

Let’s get loose!

To quote the great Lizzo (Lizzo for president!), it ain’t my fault if I’m out here getting loose. And I say that because I’ve been wearing Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow ($39), so, ya know…I’m getting loose with it, ha ha ha!

(I don’t blame it on the goose or my juice, in case you were wondering.)

This face setting powder is a rare gem. It has a subtle pearly finish (I know, blowing your mind right now!), which sets makeup without making pores look like moon craters (an issue with any sort of powder with shimmer or sheen).

Going for the glow with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Yes, you can wear it all over your face! It adds a hint of dewiness, so your face doesn’t look flat or too matte, and it does this without showing off your fine lines or smile lines, a.k.a your experience lines.

You can also wear it like a traditional highlighter as well, if all-over glow is a little too much for ya.

Oh, and did I mention that it feels weightless and doesn’t look cake-y? It’s so good, you guys. So, so good.

I’m an NC42 in MAC, by the way.

You know, if you like that dewy skin look, but you don’t want to look greasy or a shiny metallic robot, this is it.

A big 1-oz. jar is $39 (comes with a sifter, but it doesn’t come with a brush or powder puff though), and there are two shade options — one lighter and one darker. I wear the lighter option, and it works fine with my NC42 skin.

I like to apply it with a big fluffy brush, buffing the smallest amount over my face, because I like the sheen to look very diffused.

Check it out! You can find Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow in the permanent line at Laura Mercier counters and lauramercier.com.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hmm, I have a jar of this lying around that I had to get when I was traveling awhile back and had forgotten to pack a setting powder. Thanks for the reminder Karen 🙂 Time for me to bust it out.

    Btw, that necklace is gorgeous!

The original LM translucent loose setting powder is the only one I use, so it’s exciting to see a variation on that. It’s getting great reviews on Sephora and- yay!- they have the mini size to try out.

That is a great picture of you, Karen. I hope Connor is feeling better. The first couple months of back-to-school are always a germ fest!

Thanks, Suzanne. She’s getting better every day! Turns out half her class was out last week.

Regarding the powder, I hope you love it. Aren’t minis the best thing ever?

Oh! I forgot to thank you for recommending Olaplex a while back. I got the 3-4-5-6 set from Sephora and It. Is. Magic. I walked around the house last night tossing my hair like a girl in a shampoo commercial.

We haven’t had any rain or humidity here in about six weeks, which on the “bizarre Florida weather scale” is the equivalent of saying we had a blizzard. This just doesn’t happen. My hair, nails, and skin are so dry and confused. The Olaplex has solved at least one of those problems, so thank you for that.

    Hello,
You look so lovely in that photo! Also, love the top!

I haven’t tried this powder and I’m in market for one. I’ll have to make a trip to the mother ship. I love me a good setting powder, especially if there’s a glow involved. 🙂

      YES!

Oh, and I always laugh whenever you say you’re going to the mother ship. I feel the same exact way.

I hope you like it! I’ve found that a light touch is all I need for a natural-looking glow.

I’m wondering how close is this new powder with the old L.M loose shimmer powder in Stardust.

      Hi Amalia,

Star Dust had bigger glitter pieces; it was flashier compared to this one. I think this Glow has more of a soft pearly, sheen.

Laura Mercier products rock my world! I love that they work as well for me as for my teenaged daughter. I’ve been forced to give up some of the lines I used to love, that don’t agree with mature skin. Not so with Laura. it’s a forgiving glow and enhancement of best features for all ages! on another note- love your necklaces. I wish for a favorite accessories post filled with necklaces, sneakers, boots and fun tote bags. You always look so put together!

Ya know, her stuff rocks mine, too. I used to use a lot of her basics and loved them, but then I got distracted by all the other pretty, shiny things. LOL! I’m slowly re-discovering the wonder that is Laura.

Thank you for the nice compliment! 🙂 Once upon a time I was somewhat fashionable.

If you were held at gunpoint, which would you choose? Hourglass ambient powders or the LM setting powder Glow?

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
