My thoughts on pink eyeshadow? I’m into it. I have been ever since high school. My very first pink (because you never forget your first!) was a dainty pale pink frost — Seashell Pink, by Clinique — which I loved to wear from lash line to brow bone when I was a teenager.
I know.
But wait, it gets better…
Sometimes I added a little bit of shimmery bright blue in the outer corner. 😉
Later in high school, when I REALLY started experimenting, I buffed my favorite pink blushes on my lids. One was Clinique New Clover, otherwise known as “the blush in almost every gift-with-purchase ever given out at the Clinique counter.”
In college, I was all about the mauve-pinks, and again, Clinique. The color was Fawn Satin, which used to be sold as an eyeshadow single in the ’90s. (Fun fact! Both Seashell Pink and Fawn Satin are still around, and they’re sold together in a duo.)
Even today, I still wear all o’ the pinks. When I wear neutral looks, I like to use a pale pink eyeshadow like MAC Malt as highlight placed in the center of the lid, underneath the arch of the brow (just a little), and also in the inner corner.
Bright pinks? Yeah, them too, especially on the lids, and always, always with a black liner. A couple faves: MAC Sushi Flower and MAC Girlie.
And you? What are your thoughts on pink eyeshadow?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
I can’t really wear them; I’m fair with pink undertones and bright pinks make me look like I’m a rabbit. A light pink as a sheer wash of my lids but better color sometimes is okay. But props to anyone who can wear color! 😉
I love pink eyeshadow. And bonus: Vivid pinks will stain my eyelids, so I have pink eyeshadow for days! No work involved. LOL!
It’s like getting two looks for the price of one, Miki!
Pink is OK in moderation. I generally don’t love pinks, oranges, or reds. I feel like they make my eyes look super bloodshot or like I’m suffering from severe allergies.
Hi Courtney,
I used to feel that way about reds until I started lining my upper lash and water line with a black liner. It makes all the difference with red, especially.
I LOVE pink eye shadow but unlike Miki’s love of it staining her eyelids, I am positively freaked out by it. I feel uncomfortable with whatever level of “Red Lake #5” is in pink eyeshadow that makes it stay on my lids like that.
I did have a favorite brand, though, Napoleon Perdis. Super intense pink, super staining. Love/hate. ;D
I remember using a couple of his things back in the day and liking them!
Not for me. I don’t like pink on my complexion, no pink lipstick, no pink gloss, only rarely pink blush – but surely no pink eyeshadow.

How about pink clothes?!
I love pinks, reds and oranges but the problem is that most of the best colors contain carmine to give them that pretty reddish hue. I’m allergic to carmine and can’t use it anywhere near my eyes or they will itch, get swollen and be glued together in the morning and be red and burning. I have to read labels (which are usually written in microscopic print size) and can only get things that don’t have carmine in them. 🙁
Hi Kellly,
I’ve heard that’s a common allergy. If I ever run into a pretty pink without carmine I’ll let you know!
Love the pinks! I’m waiting for Huda’s Neon Pink palette in a couple weeks. I apply a darker color to line my upper lid, so there’s some depth, but let that pink shine through on my cool complexion in all its glory. Inglot, and even Revlon and L’Oréal have some great pinks . . . I’ve tried most of them.
Make a great day, and start working on that book brewing in the depths of your soul,
L
❤️
Thanks for the motivation, my friend. Sending you happy kitty thoughts!
The pink shadow looks fabulous on you . The first time a makeup artist did my makeup he used all pinks !
I’m glad to hear those shadows are still around .
Going to the Clinique site , ,,,,
Hi Michele,
They’re classics. I wish they sold Fawn Satin as a single!
Pinks work pretty well for my fair complexion, as long as it doesn’t veer too far into the red territory. My fave pinks are dusty mauve shades and greyed out roses for my crease(loving Bobbi Brown’s Haute Nude palette for this). And the pale pink in Tom Ford’s Nude Dip is my go-to when I want an eye gloss look. Silvery Pink creaseless creme shadows from Benefit are another friend to my mature lids, in now discontinued shades Flatter Me and Flying Down to Rio.
Hi Lorraine,
I keep putting off Nude Dip for whatever reason I have at the moment, but one day she shall be mine!
Hope you had a lovely long weekend.
I look SO TERRIBLE with pink shadow on. I just can’t.
Love pink. Have Girlie and Sushi Flower from MAC. But my first MAC shadow was Da Bling
Pinks tend to make me look ill with my coloring. I can do beiges that might have a hint of pink but I don’t wear pinks really at all – lips or cheeks either. Definitely more into peaches and plums.
I like pink eyeshadows but I need to mix it with another color like a neutral one. The last couple of times I wore pink eyeshadow, my Mom asked what was wrong with my eyes! LOL 🙂
Pink is my fave neutral! I have green eyes so it usually looks pretty good. I almost never wear shadow these days but, way back when, it was almost always pink. Let’s not discuss the blue on the outside corners or we’ll have to talk about heating black pencil liner with a lighter before applying, too. HAHA!
I saw the girls in the upper grades doing that with their liner and was always super jealous! 🙂
Funnily enough it was a girl one grade above me who got me into it. I would never have had a lighter in school. But some of my friends were a bit bolder. 🙂 You’d have to do it sneakily in the bathroom and I’m sure it stunk to high heaven. Ah, youth. Now all the kids are vaping in the school bathrooms. It’s a different world!
I love pink eyeshadows. They’re great for bringing out green tones in eyes. I agree that lining the upper lid in black, especially with brighter pinks, really helps.
Love pink shadows! MAC Soft Teddy is a new fave, as well as the coveted Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Palette.
I have never thought about wearing a pink eye shadow.. I may have to venture out. I’m curious to know the name of your lipstick.
