The DKNY Fusion Perfect Bra Is a Bad-@ss Brassiere

Do your girls a favor.

Transcript of me talking to a stranger in a Nordstrom Rack fitting room a few weeks ago:

Me: “Oh, my god. Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod. OH. MY. GAWD!”

Stranger in the stall next to me: *knocks politely on wall* “Miss? Are you doing OK?”

Me: “Yeah, I’m OK. I’m so sorry. I forget sometimes that I’m, ya know, out in public.”

Stranger in the stall next to me: “Erh… Alright.”

This exchanged happened as I was trying on the DKNY Fusion Perfect Bra, a lightly padded underwire t-shirt bra.

This exchange also happened shortly before I bought all of the available Fusion Perfect Bras in my size in the store (there were two!), and a few hours prior to me buying three more online at nordstromrack.com.

Seriously, SO GOOD.

My new favorite affordable everyday bra

The Fusion Perfect Bra is regularly $42, but it’s on sale now for $18.97 at “DA RACK,” as I like to call it, and while a few of the colors are sold out, there are still a good number of sizes and shades available. If you can snag your size in a color you like, all I have to say is…do your boobies a favor, and get them into this ultimate over-the-shoulder boulder holder.

Props to the marketing peeps who came up with the phrase, “perfect fusion,” because this bra is indeed a perfect blend of functionality, fit and feel.

Dainty details

It’s bra nirvana!

The material, a mix of nylon and elastane (a.k.a. Spandex), is softer than a baby’s cheek, a bunny tail AND your favorite cozy couch blanket, and it’s worked into two silky smooth cups and a velvety band that hug your torso with a gentle touch that’s so comfy I sometimes forget I’m wearing a bra.

It’s definitely NOT one of those itchy, ill-fitting bras that poke you and that you immediately ditch the second you get in your car (wait, am I the only person who’s done this?). I could keep this bra on all day (and possibly all night) if I needed or wanted to.

Oh, how do I love this bra?

Let me count the ways!

  • So flexible: The smooth material allows the bra to sit perfectly under both flowing tops and fitted tees, and it somehow miraculously seems to never get too hot against my skin.
  • No slip: The straps are slightly thicker than your typical bra straps (but they’re still slim enough to seem dainty), and they prevent the bra from sliding down my shoulders!
  • Off the hook: The clasp in the back with the hook and eye is easy to fasten.
  • Big ups to the cups: I like that the cups high up enough that there’s no boob spillage over the top of my bra, and no weird gaps. I also like that the padding is light enough to hide les nips, but yet it isn’t so stiff that I feel like I’m walking around town with pot holders strapped to the front of my chest.
  • Delightful details: The sweet bow in the front and the little teardrop peek of skin underneath it lend a feminine, dainty touch. Oh, and I also dig the subtle DKNY branding on the side. There’s a small logo at the base of the band, and it’s barely visible.

So subtle — I love it!

Seriously, it’s the best everyday bra I’ve found, and judging by the gobs of glowing reviews on the Nordstrom Rack site, I’m not the only one enamored with it.

Boobies everywhere are rejoicing!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Thank you, Karen! I just went to Nordstrom Rack’s website and ordered one of these bras. I am so sick of yanking on falling straps all day long, so as soon as I read today’s blog, I jumped on it! Bras have gotten so ridiculously expensive, and that is a great price, even with S & H added on. Also, thanks for the heads up on the DHC Deep Oil Cleanser yesterday. I got 2 bottles, as I am 3/4 of the way through my very first bottle, and I love this stuff. You saved me a bunch of $$$ this week, so thank you again!

      Hi Daphne,

I really hope this bra works out for you. Before I found it, I had tried on, seriously, SIX different bra styles from DA RACK, and I returned them all… Then I found this one. I’m a little nervous that they might be discontinuing the style, but I’m gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope that DKNY releases newever versions of it soon.

I detest bra shopping so when I find a good one I’m super excited about it!

I am intrigued. I can never find a bra in my size at most department stores. I have to go online or spend waaaay toooo much money. I will have to check this out.

Just sent Zack a small care package today. Be well.

That’s so sweet. What did you put in the care package?

I’m glad you had bra success! I tried the Chantelle but didn’t really care for it. I don’t feel like it has enough cushioning around the underwire for my comfort. But I basically live in the CW-X sports bras so keep the recs coming!! 🙂

Believe it or not I still have the original CW-X that I reviewed years ago, and it’s still going strong (and quite frankly I’m still shocked I can fit into it). They really hold up well!

I agree 100%. Mine are just as great after several years of almost daily wear. I am looking at getting another one. But I should really be looking at a new “regular” bra. 🙂

They don’t have it in my size (nothing new there), but I’ll pass the rec on to Mom and the girls.

I really think bra and jeans shopping are the most trying shopping experiences on earth. I finally scored big (and payed big!!) with Third Love bras and Mom loves a particular Soma bra (she literally bought one in every color the store had), but jeans remain elusive. I found a pair I semi-love, but they still have their drawbacks. Anyway, if you’re looking for incredibly comfortable and well-made bras and aren’t afraid to pay for them, we recommend Third Love and Soma.

I see those Soma ads all the time in my FB feed! I’ve always wondered if their bras were good.

I really hate jeans shopping, too, by the way… And shockingly, I accidentally stumbled onto a pair that I don’t hate at DA RACK last time I was there. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime jean moments that will probably never happen again. LOL

Does the seam between the lower and upper part of the cup show through when wearing a tee? Some of the reviewers say the cups run small. Do you agree or did it run true to size for you?

No, it doesn’t. It looks like a seam but it’s smooth. I’ve worn the beige with a white tee and it’s not visible at all!

I find that the cups run TTS for me. 🙂

Bra shopping is the worst, so when I find one that fits, I buy all the colors available in my size too.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
