Teenage (Valentine) Dreams: Keanu Reeves

February 14th, 2019 by Karen 16 Comments

So…I have a thing for Keanu Reeves.

I would say that I’ve been mildly obsessed with him for quite some time, and I still entertain the possibility that Keanu and I will be married someday (don’t tell El Hub!).

I’ve believed this since roughly 1993.

HA HA HA!

But, yeah.

Despite the fact that, technically, I’m married, with a cat and a toddler, I still believe that people will address me someday as “Mrs. Keanu Reeves.”

Of course, El Hub just rolls his eyes when I talk about this, but I can also say that if El Hub had to duel with Keanu (or Viggo Mortensen) for my hand in marriage, El Hub would be OK about losing to Keanu. He would be all, “Well…at least it was Keanu.”

Just call me Mrs. Reeves…

I’ve been thinking a lot about him lately (Keanu), because he has a new movie out that I want to see called Replicas.

It’s supposed to be pretty bad, though…

Wait — Keanu Reeves is in a bad movie?! HA HA HA! Yeah, he’s been in a few stinkers, but people still hella love him, myself included.

I’ve been Googling him and reminiscing… One, he’s very easy on the eyes, even with a beard, and I’m not into beards at all (too scratchy), but Keanu with a beard? I could live with that.

Also, he’s supposedly an avid reader (we could talk about books!), generous and very polite, which, you know, is probably a combination of good PR, the truth, Hollywood mythology and a pinch of Internet rumor, but Google’s cup runneth over with stories about Keanu doing nice things for strangers.

Also again, I like how “Keanu and Karen” sounds. Cute, right? 😊

My favorite Keanus are Keanu Reeves in 1) Speed, which forever changed how I felt about guys in SWAT gear, and 2) Keanu in Paula Abdul’s Rush Rush video.

Girl, do yourself a favor and get thee “a favorite Keanu” if you haven’t already!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

The last thing I saw him in was “John Wick”. Meh. I will never forget “River’s Edge” as long as I live. Still chilling to this day. Liked him when he was a young pup, but not so much lately.
Then again, no one is better looking than my Dear Husband.

Ya know, I don’t think I remember that one! I’m pretty sure I saw it a long time ago but can’t remember it.

I mostly liked John Wick because of his suit. lol

He’s awesome for so many reasons. I love his comment about how American popular media keeps devouring itself, which he called “mad cow American disease” (http://www.whoaisnotme.net/articles/1997_1019_fiv.htm), and the way he’s conscientious about making a point of not gr0ping people during photo opportunities (almost every photo I’ve seen of him posing with women shows his hands, usually above and not touching their shoulders).

      Hi Lexica,

Ooh, read this interview that Esquire did with him from 2017! I think you’ll enjoy it.

My husband and I both appreciate KR’s patchy beard.

Please watch “Destination Wedding.” It’s beautiful and hilarious, even if your competition and KR’s technical wife from “Dracula,” Winona Ryder, co-stars in it.

I wonder if your recent trip to Hawaii also rekindled your infatuation. 😉

OK, so it’s funny that you should mention Hawaii, because while El Hub and I were driving around Kaimuki, we ended up on Ke’Anu street! LOL

I watched Destination Wedding! The scene with the big cat, OMG!

You’ll have to fight me for him. 😄. I even tracked down his house and took a picture of it. Stalker some? Have you seen Lake House? It’s a romance with Sandra Bullock. If you haven’t, track it down. My fav Keanu movie. ❤️😍

Girl, don’t make me take my hoop earrings off! LOL

I have seen Lake House, and you’re right, it’s great. Have you seen A Walk in the Clouds? That’s another good one!

Ah yes, Keanu was the stuff of my teenage dreams as well. Him and Jared Leto during My So-Called Life.

Haha. What Joyce said. You’re going to have to fight me for him! I love Keanu. I even named my first born–Keana! I think Kelly and Keanu sound mo’ bettah. LOL! Hope you are surviving the rains up your way. Thanks for the Keanu fix!

Just had to stop and read this post, as I am also Mrs. Keanu Reeves ever since Speed was released! I think I’ve tried to watch and read anything I could back in my teens/twenties that was remotely Keanu related, so it was nice to revisit the Rush video again – thanks!

Hey, I’ve loved him since Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, so I may have a prior claim! Here’s the real test of love though – have you seen his first Coke commercial? 😀 (Also why was Paula trying to get him killed in this video? And then making out with him when she causes her boyfriend’s death? Her character is awful, but I really want that orange dress lol.)

Lol, what girl of a certain age (and beyond on either sides!) didn’t have a crush on Keanu back in the day? I guess maybe if you were into girls, not so much, lol.

But, I digress. I live in LA, and I’ve seen him several times over the years out and about. Never talked to him though, I’m just not into that kind of thing, but my friend did and he was very nice to her.

I’ve heard many stories about what a great guy he is, from media reports as well as people who worked with him. He also seems pretty normal, he rides the subway in NY kind of “celebrities, they’re just like us!” type stuff. Too bad he’s not a better actor, though he hasn’t lost his looks and he’s been perfect for some of the roles he’s played.

Says something when most of the actresses you’ve worked with you’ve remained friends with.

I’ve never been super into Keanu, but can I just say the following words: A Walk in the Clouds. Sigh. So sappy, but I love that movie.

OMG Keanu has been my guy since the Bill and Ted days! My favorite is Speed and Point Break era Keanu though. Swoon. You do need to see River’s Edge if you haven’t. He is all broody teen angst in that movie. Also, Crispin Glover delivers a supremely weird performance that you might appreciate.

Well, I was today years old when I learned that Keanu was in Paula Abdul’s music video!
I have so much respect for Keanu because he just such a lovely soul. Bless his heart.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
