Once upon a time, our Rosie pose was sweet as pie. Then came that fateful day when I took her for a walk outside…
Now I live with a beast!
I’m not surprised. Back when Tabs was my main squeeze, and he was the most refined and elegant of all the kitties I’ve known, the act of taking him outside also unleashed something primitive in him.
His tail would whip a little faster; his tum would sway a little more aggressively; and, was it just me, or did his teeth look a little bit sharper too?
Something about going outside fires up the felines, and Rosie isn’t immune to it…
Rosie: Birth of a Monster
Ever since I started taking her outside for walks in the morning, she’s been feistier, more demanding and, dare I say it, diva-esque?
It’s gotten to the point where she waits at the door expectantly and will mewl at the door when she hears us working in the yard.
And it’s a bossy meow!

This cracks me up. I’m considering a cat right now, but I haven’t mustered up the courage to actually adopt one yet because I’m scared of the unexpected. LOL! I’ve only ever had rabbits, which are pretty easy to care for save for the occasional tummy scare, but cats just seem like so much more work. The more I read about them, the more nervous I get. What if I get a diva? Can I handle? LOL!

Hi Christina,
I say go for it! If it’s possible at all, ask people in your network of friends and family if they know anyone who’s fostering a kitty. I met Rosie through a friend who was fostering her, and we ended up being a great match. 🙂
You’re going to be a great cat mom!

Christina. GO FOR IT! With Chewy to deliver food, litter, and disposable litter boxes, it couldn’t get much easier. I adopted my first rescue cat, a sweet, odd-eyed, deaf, white shorthair, and I couldn’t be happier with everything about it. Getting cat hair up from tile flooring is much easier than the carpeting I had with my last 8 cats, so that’s a big plus, too.
Will be anxious to see how it goes if you post on MBB.
All the best,
Leigh

Awww Leigh – I used to own on SPI! Sure do miss it. You sound like a wonderful kitty mom as well as Karen! Karen gets extra points for keeping Rosie (& Tabs) on leashes – too many birds are lost to outside kitties. 🙁

PS Christina . . .I had rabbits, too, when I had a cat AND a boa constrictor. When in the house, rabbits went in the litter box without my even knowing they would. And they’d hop out at the cat in play. It worked out just fine.
Good luck!

Hi Leigh,
Thanks so much for the reply! I figured it was time to get my own once I started feeding the strays in the neighbourhood and trying to pet and play with all of them. I feel like I’m turning into a crazy cat lady who doesn’t even own her own cat yet. LOL!
Phew! 8 cats! I can’t even imagine how vibrant your house must have been! If (more like when at this point) I get one, I’ll definitely post on Sundays with Tabs to let you know.

Pretty Girl Rosie has the prettiest mouth!! It looks like a smile. You can definitely tell she’s a girl kitty. So cute!!

Karen I love that you keep Rosie on a leash to keep her safe! We have an epidemic of kitties getting hit by cars around here, its so sad. My neighbor lets her cat run loose and he loves to frequent my doorstep. I love him (he is so cute!) but I am scared to death for him. Thank you for being a great Kitty Mommy!
Karen says
Thank you, Kristie! I love taking her for walks. It’s great for both her and me!

Our cats are outdoor cats and they sure are much more bossy than the ones that stay inside.
