Uh…
Um…is anybody else low-key freaking out about the new Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer?
I guess they redesigned it, and I just got one in the mail the other day.
First impression? “Ooh, colorful!” But it seemed kind of thin with fewer pages than usual. Then I set it aside to read later in bed. (Don’t judge! It’s normally great bedtime reading.)
I can’t believe it! Where did all the rambling intros with fun facts about coffee beans, weather patterns, ducklings and four-leaf clovers go?? Or the clever puns and silly wordplay? Everything in this new version is succinct, matte-of-fact and blah. It looks great, but dayum, TJ, why you gotta do me like that!? BRING BACK THE OLD FEARLESS FLYER!
On that note, a little light reading for your Saturday morning (beauty and otherwise)…
- The hidden history behind the Maybelline New York makeup line
- Ehrmahgawhd! The print on this dress is purr-fection. WANT.
- Lumpia and pancit for everyone! The food of my people is gonna be the next big culinary thing, according to Vogue.
- Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick
- How do the chemicals in sunscreen protect our skin from damage?
- Makeup legend Pat McGrath talks makeup, tech and what’s next in the future of beauty.
- Thanks, Carolina, for giving me a serious Dior mascara lemming.
- My girl Adia compiled a lengthy list of nude lipsticks for deeper skin tones, YES!
- And in case you missed it, here’s the skinny on the awesome Ouai haircare line, Urban Decay’s newest Naked Heat Palette (it’s hot stuff), Milk Makeup’s skin-like Sunshine tint, and how your face powder can be a secret makeup weapon in your beauty arsenal.
Violette_Fr’s videos are binge-worthy. SO GOOD!
Playing this all the time, over and over and over again…
Makeup in 5, 10 and 15 minutes with MAC Next to Nothing (a.k.a. my favorite thing in the world right now)
I’m in last-minute vacay mode, packing and getting the place ready for the tabby’s favorite pet sitter. As Tabs explains it, he’s a consummate deep-tissue kitty massage pro. He’ll be the tabby’s on-site temp assistant this week.
I wish I could bring Tabs along on this trip, though. I briefly contemplated emptying my big green bag and trying to sneak him aboard in it, but I can see the TSA agent now. “Um…ma’am? Is there a large cat in your bag??”
Well, yeah, obviously. 🙂
Do you ever wish you could bring your pets on vacation with you? I wish I could every time.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Aww that Clinique article was heartwarming to read. 🙂
If I brought Zoe with me on vacation, she’d be a huge hit. She loves going on trips.
I plan on making lavender soap in today. I’m going to document the process on my blog.

Let TJs know what’s up! lol
You always find such fun things across the web, can’t wait to check em out.
I never had pancit until last year and I love it now!
And I’m so curious about the Clinique Black Honey post because it’s a fave of mine.
Where are you going on vacation?
I’ve been thinking about getting a dog, but that was a concern…wishing we could take the pup with us on travels.
Have a great day Karen!

Ernesto flew internationally twice in his life and I think he’s done with that. Now he gets very sick in the car and loses his mind after like, 200 feet… We took him with us on trips to the Bay Area for the holidays a few times, but he haaaates it. 10 hours in the car is tough for a human, so for a strongly opinionated feline with a passion for singing, well, it gets loud. He does love that my mother-in-law has chickens though, and that her yard is so full of greens compared to what he sees in San Diego!

We always talk about how nice it would be to take the cats with us on vacation. We think Jon Snow would enjoy playing in the pool and Winston, our orange boy, would be the kid with a white zinc nose and swimming goggles on.
Have a wonderful trip!

Wait! That was the Fearless Flyer? Ours came in the mail, I glanced at it and it didn’t register like the Fearless Flyer so I tossed in the recycling bin which got picked up Friday morning. Oh well.
I’ve never thought of traveling with Nora, I don’t think she’d handle it very well. I like my vacations to be vacations from everything… cooking, cleaning, scooping cat boxes, opening cans of cat food.

WHAT? Trader Joe’s needs to rethink that decision. The real reason I read it was because of the stories and puns and fun! This is outrageous!!!! We gotta let them know. Next time I’m there I’m talking to them about what a poor choice that was.

We now don’t have a pet but when I had one in Greece we tried taking her with us on a road trip to the seaside (a few hours away from Athens really!) She got so confused that we didn’t ever attempt to take her with internationally. I think its easier when they’re young but way harder as they grow older.

Thanks so much for sharing my post!!! Hope you have a great vacay 🙂

Ha, I’m a TJ’s employee (I do the sign art for our store) and every time you mention them I get a big kick out of it! That’s our “summer issue”, they’re always really small in summer months! From Oct to Feb, those Flyers are the big ones! I wish the regular ones were this colorful tho, I’m loving all the rainbowness of this one!

I just wanted to say that I noticed the same thing about TJ’s Fearless Flyer. WHY CHANGE SOMETHING GREAT? I loved to read it while eating lunch. Damn them.

I didn`t know the history behind Maybelline. Informative article and glad Tom Williams is finally getting recognition.
Oddly enough, I`ve never tried Black Honey. They gave away mostly neutral or pink lipsticks at my city`s Clinique counters back in the day.
