Good morning, my friend. I hope your Caturday is off to a peaceful, joyful start.
It’s been a week since I started doing the three small things I learned in this podcast for better mornings, and overall, my mornings are a little smoother, and I feel less tired in the afternoons.
Oh, and in case you missed it, the three things are:
- Wake up right away instead of hitting the snooze button;
- Get natural light outside before artificial light to support your circadian rhythm; and
- Drink a glass of water first thing and delay having your coffee or tea.
Side note, I can’t believe I’m writing this without a drop of caffeine in my system. So crazy!
Anywho, I’m going to keep at it for at least another week. The true test will be when I have a few nights of insomnia, which happens sometimes. If I can stick to it even when I’m feeling terrible in the morning, then I’m going to keep doing it.
Oh, and I realize this will be so much harder when it’s cold and rainy outside again. I’m hoping that starting it now will get me to the point when it’s so second nature when fall and winter come back around.
How was your week? I hope that you got a lot done and that you felt good about it. Did anything good happen to you?
This week’s reading
- Charlotte Tilbury has a new line of mood-boosting perfumes.
- Do you see any of your favorites on this list of ’90s perfumes?
- Apparently we all need a body routine!
- These are supposed to be the best skincare products for kids and babies right now.
- Oh, and side note, here are some recommendations for skincare if you’re pregnant.
I need some transformation

Thank you for summarizing the three things. I’m just not capable of watching a 52 minute podcast just to get three things out of it. Unless there are interesting visuals I just zone out.
I never hit the snooze button because I allot a specific amount of time to get ready in my mornings and if hit it I know I’m gonna be late. It’d be easier to get natural light first in the morning if we just stayed on standard time and let it be light in the mornings. (I prefer morning light to evening light. I wake up easier and fall asleep easier). Last two trips to Japan I started drinking hot water first thing in the morning because it was cold out and I was saving my daily allotment of caffeine for a good cup of coffee or tea at a cafe. My digestion felt better because of it.
90’s perfume! I still have a bottle of Dune. A lady who works at my local grocery store wears Mugler Angel and I can smell the perfume from 20 feet away. Seriously potent stuff.
Have a great weekend.

I totally get it! Sometimes you can look in the comments of these shows, and they’ll have the items summarized.
That’s amazing that you still have a bottle of Dune. I wish I would’ve kept my bottle of YSL Paris from the ’90s! Oh, and from the early Aughts, I had an original bottle of J’Adore before they changed it. (The version they have on the shelves just doesn’t smell the same.)
You have a great weekend, too. We just got back from the California Academy of Sciences. Connor just loves that place!
Tatiana says
The Academy of Sciences is amazing. Just before the lockdown they used to do adult evenings, with cocktails, etc. Dear Daughter loved that place growing up. The Exploratorium too! She was fascinated by the bacteria wall display.
Not sure, but I think I still have a mini bottle of YSL Paris in one of my perfume drawers. Not sure as it’s not one I reach for at all. I wish I could find a vintage bottle of YSL Opium. With regulations and ingredient scarcity it’s not the same as it was. My empty bottle still releases aroma when I unstop it and sniff every now and then.
Karen says
They’re doing those adult nights again! I think they’re on Thursday.
I remember that old school Opium; I think my mom still has a bottle from the ’80s. It was so beautiful!

I wore Curve and Angel but the best GAP fragrance was actually Om. Also, there was a specific perfume oil from Garden Botanika that I loved.
Karen says
I remember OM. I had a roommate who wore it; the other gal wore Dream.
Oh, and back in the day there was a Garden Botanika at the mall I used to frequent in SF!

Can’t take the goth out of the girl–I still love the fragrance of essential oil blends from an incense-y occult or new age shop! 😏 And I can’t get enough of Master Hung. He’s so inspiring.
Karen says
Girl, me too. If it smells like you could’ve bought it at a witchy store in Berkeley, I would’ve worn it. HA HA HA!
