Greetings and salutations, friend! Happy Caturday morning.
I hope things are going well so far. Out here in Novato, we’re starting the day with some reading, because I’m all about reading first thing in the morning on the weekend.
Sometimes it’s digital (see below), and sometimes it’s old-school magazines (see above), but this morning it’s going to be me, tea and the three home decor magazines at the top.
Speaking of home decor…what do you think of these floors? I’m still doing flooring research as part of Project New Floors Spring 2021, and I’m currently waffling between dark and light luxury plank vinyl.
The part of me that loves traditional style wants darker floors, but the practical side of me that knows what how hard it is to keep dark floors looking clean says, GO TO THE LIGHT, CAROL ANNE.
I feel like I should strike while the iron’s hot, a.k.a. while I’m feeling sensible, and commit to the light floors already!
This weekend’s reading…
- Stardust shadow is a thing. ?
- Allegedly, these are the hottest hair and makeup trends this spring and summer, and I say “allegedly” because mullets are listed as the number one hair trend. SAY WHAT? ?
- How to DIY your own waterproof makeup.
- Here’s some of the new makeup coming out this month! I’m deeply intrigued by the Make Up For Ever Watertone Skin-Perfecting Tint, by the way.
- Well…this is super pretty!
And some things to watch…
I want that kitteh.
I love the Amanda Uprichard Dress and the Free People Top.
It’s only a papermoon.
10 minutes, I’m into it.
Chanel, ooh la la
What do you have going on this weekend? Other than reading the aforementioned magazines on the couch with Rosie and enjoying breakfast (scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and a chocolate croissant), Connor has a play date at a local park with a friend, and I’m already thinking about how many times I’m going to say, “OK, five more minutes and we’re leaving!” HAHAHA!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

OMG those floors are gorgeous!! Do not make the mistake my husband and I did. We had dark reddish brown laminate floors put in our dining area, living room, and down the hallway. They are beautiful… until the sun shines in and you see EVERY smudge, scratch ( and they do scratch and chip if you drop something hard on them), and cat hair! I would give anything if the light flooring had been an option when we picked out this flooring, but the light wood Scandi looking floors and furniture were not popular back then. That picture is my dream living room – those chairs are from Target and I long for them -but they are $300.00 a piece which is surprising for Target. Do yourself a major favor and get the light floors. You will not regret it.

We have cork-backed plank vinyl flooring and LOVE it! Mine is a stone-look. Waterproof, easy to clean, and has just enough cush to be really comfortable.

I cannot offer you any flooring advice other than to get help cleaning whatever you end up with.
It is a super sunny unusually warm Saturday in Maine—like 72–that’s a June temp usually.
I’m running errands, about to brave Sam’s Club, thinking about going in the Mothership but with all the pandemic restrictions still in place that’s not a lot of fun.
Have fun mommying at the park. My kid turns 18 on Thursday but I remember those days.

Hettie and I just got back from the park – we walked about an hour and twenty minutes. We saw a pair of ducks she was very interested in.
I love stardust shadow though I’m not sure how good it’ll look on video calls! I had a mullet as a kid, I’ll pass on getting another LOL. I’m also interested in that MUFE skin tint – sounds promising.

This may or may not be an option depending on the flooring brand (I know next to nothing about flooring), but maybe (brand allowing) a medium shade could be a good compromise between style and cleaning practicality?

I’m with you. I love the look of the darker flooring but know that it shows everything (including footprints if you’re a barefoot household). My friend was warned and went with the dark anyway. They ended up replacing it after a year. I personally don’t care for the light, but it does brighten things up. Of course, the exposure in the before/after pics is quite different, which also helps. 😉 The grayish, barnboard look is popular in our area right now. That’s not for me, either. I know many people with laminate floors and they’re all happy with the easy cleaning and upkeep.
PS Ugh on the mullet. My boy is also bringing jorts back (thankfully the mullet has been gone for quite a while). Ah, youth. HAHA!

I was lucky enough to try the MUFE tint through influenster and let me tell you.. I love. It’s not gonna give a lot of coverage, just some light evening out but I’m not a foundation person so it’s perfect for me. It has the weirdest texture, literally like water almost. Only complaint I’ve heard is about the fragrance which is pretty floral but hasn’t bothered me.
