I present to you Exhibit A.
Above is a picture of a brand-spankin’-new tube of MAC Clear brow gel (my go-to at the moment because it reigns in stray brow hairs without a stiff crunch), and um…another picture of the exact same product, but one that’s been living in my makeup bag for the past few months.
I know. Ewww. I said the same thing when I saw them next to each other.
I’m pretty sure there’s NO WAY I’m the only person on this planet whose brow gel gets gnarly like this. I mean, I’m not super proud of it or anything, and it’s probably something I shouldn’t be sharing on the Internet, but here we are. Gnarly brow gel happens.
I probably also shouldn’t be surprised, because I have a habit of running the gel through my brows *after* I fill them in (makes them look more natural IMO and less obviously filled in), and I use brow gel daily, but still…shocked!
If you use clear brow gel, does this happen to yours, too?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF! Right?
Actually, about that…El Hub and I were just talking about how, with both of us home all day during the week, the days have been blurring together. Is this happening to you? And it’s been hard to plan special things to do, because we aren’t going to restaurants or to stores or the mall, which are things we’d normally do to treat ourselves on the weekend for fun.
We do make meals and rent movies and go for walks and drives, but coming up with new ways to treat ourselves at the end of the week has been tricky.
Does this make any sense? Is this also happening to you?
Rachel says
I am still working so the days don’t really blur together, but the weekends do seem to drag as I am not able to do my normal routine of exercise classes and visiting my Grandma at her assisted living facility. It does suck not being able to go out to eat/go out for drinks. I miss physical shopping as well, if I need something I just order it online. But I am trying to limit myself with that sort of thing and use this time as a sort of reset for my budget and not buy things I don’t need! It looks like the weather will be pretty nice this weekend so I hope to go on lots of walks! Stay healthy!

Hi Rachel,
El Hub and I were just talking about how we miss going shopping! I certainly don’t miss spending the money (LOL) but I do miss being around other people, and just looking around at things, even if I don’t plan to buy anything. Before Connor started preschool, she and I would go to Target every day. EVERY DAY. Not really to buy anything, but just to get out of the house and be part of the rhythm of life. I miss that feeling.

Family movie night, use the good dishes and candles (make the meal special), fashion show, rearrange furniture, take care of (some of ) those home tasks that have been put off, family scavenger hunt, shine your shoes, put away winter gear, etc. While some of these are not fun, they keep us on our toes and remind us that it is a new day! I usually wear only minimum makeup and dress casually but I am making an effort if leaving the house now.
Karen says
Thanks for the ideas, Frugaljd!

Happy Aloha Friday, Karen!
Yes, I totally forgot that yesterday was a state holiday and worked anyway! I might even work this weekend because it’s not like we can go out and do our usual Saturday/Sunday thingz.
I haven’t used brow gels so can’t say this happens to me. But yeah, pretty gnarly. 😀 I borrow my hubby’s surfer hair paste + eyeshadow for brows if I feel like styling them.
Are folks putting up holiday (any of them, all of them!) decorations in your neighborhood? That’s a thing now. I imagine that would be nice to see/do outdoors.

I am still working, business as usual. Although, the weekends are a bit boring knowing that there are no fun shopping trips, like the mall or winners and a lunch or dinner. I don’t intend to join my love on grocery trips because people are going insane and I don’t have patience for unnecessary drama. Had to cancel my birthday bash which I was super excited about (for once) to see my friends and coworkers from my previous job! So that bummed me out. Yesterday was the first time in over a week that I played with eye makeup (my work makeup routine is just to even out skin and control oil basically. No time for eyes.) Today I did something neutral with a hint of Mac Antiqued on my upper and lower lashline. I think it’s contrasts nicely with the sage green jewellery my friend gifted me for my birthday.

If your brow gel DOESN’T look like this, do you even DO your brows?? 😉
Marie says
Hi Karen, I live in Switzerland and mine looks exactly like yours ! LOL 🙂
I have the habit too of running the gel through my brows *after* I fill them in to make them look more natural !

Karen the days are definitely running together! I was shocked that today was Friday .
Have a great Saturday ?
Tatiana says
Yeah, the days are running together here, particularly for Dear Husband who is used to more work. Thank goodness the guys in Japan keep calling him. Why do they seem to have this thing under control when we don’t?
Not sure if my tube of brow gel gets gnarly like that as the tube is opaque. I’m wondering if I should try the MAC brow gel? The gray hairs that are coming into my brows now, seem to have a life and will of their own. All the brunette hairs growing up and over, while the grays seem to grow either straight out (as in away from my face) or down towards my eyes. It would be nice if they got along and went the same direction as the brunette ones.

I’m in Spain and we’ve been on lockdown for two weeks. It’s really strict and I’m only allowed to go out to buy food or medicine. I’m really struggling as I usually go to the park for a run or a spin class at the gym. I’m doing workout videos, but I don’t sleep a lot and it’s getting harder to be so positive. This week I cried a lot as my flight home to visit my family in the UK was cancelled. I hope this is all over soon. Thank you for helping me forget the awful C word and remind me that a little makeup helps in an uncertain world. Sending lots of love and hugs!
