Makeup and Beauty Blog Saturday Night

December 13th, 2008 by Karen 27 Comments

Heya, ladies!

I’d planned to write a couple more posts this afternoon, but I started playing with Photoshop and lost all track of time.

After Photoshopping I got the unrelenting urge to clean off my desk. The piles of paper have been holding me hostage! And that took a few hours, but I’m *finally* done. I’ve re-aligned my desk feng shui, yea! We’ll see how long that lasts…

I found a few goodies under the mess, like the sea biscuit I picked up in Key West and this bunny finger puppet (up top). He’s been gone a while… It was like finding buried treasure, I tell ya.

Tonight, I’m just chilling out at home. On the agenda: practice applying false lashes! I have a few pairs from Lash Addiction ($6 each) that I’ve been dying to try.

As for background music, I’m in trouble. I’m secretly trying to drive El Hub and Tabs crazy by playing Britney Spears’ Trouble over and over and over again until someone snaps, LOL!

What are you up to tonight? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. MAC addicts — a quick update on the Chill collection. The release date has been moved up to December 18th! Woot, woot!

I get distracted easily too especially when I know I need to do something that I have no desire to do. For example, I am supposed to be cleaning up my guest room seeing what is sent to the Goodwill, trash or taken with me and instead I am browsing through my Google Reader and Youtube.

Tomorrow I will be packing the remainder of my things and Monday I will be saying good bye to the Valley.

    Have a great Sunday!

This is too strange, I got a few pairs of Shu Uemura eyelashes a few days ago and I’ve been trying to practise putting them on. I’m hopeless. I thought you might have some ideas but it seems like you’re practising too. Anyway, is it just me or does Trouble sound a lot like it’s been written by Madonna?

    Hi k
I was doing the same cleaning and organizing all day I also found a lot of treasures like all my old sketch books, a $50 macys gift card (LOL I am reserving this for mac chill now) the list goes on :). I have an idea – your photo shopped piece above would make fabulous wrapping paper you should find a local print shop that can print it for you !!!! How cute would that be! I love your bunny puppet I actually found some gumby toys in my bookcase remember those guys LOL happy Sunday!

I was playing with false lashes last night too! It ended in an unfortunate situation involving my real lashes and some rebellious Duo lash glue. It’s weird–I have absolutely no problem putting false lashes on anyone else, but I struggle doing my own. Until I perfect the art, my Shu curler and Diorshow Iconic do just fine 🙂

    Have a great weekend, Karen!

    Hiya Karen!
    Nice bunny 🙂
I found some buried treasure too today. U see, we get frequent powercuts, so I had bought a nice big red LED flashlight, and it went awol! Found it today sitting pretty inside a suitcase stashed in the loft!!

    p.s. Has Tabs snapped yet?

    Hi Marisol,

How exciting! I hope the rest of the moving goes smoothly. Bring an umbrella when you come back to the bay — it’s raining!

    Hi Karen B.,

YAY! What wonderful news! 🙂 How far is the school from your home? Will you have to spend the summer there?

BTW, my favorite Shakespeare play is A Midsummer Night’s Dream!

Good ear! The intro sounds very similar to Madonna’s Get Together.

    Hi Yadiq,

I remember Gumby! I used to have a few of those toys when I was a kid!

I love finding gift cards… it’s really like finding pirates booty. I found one for Nordie’s yesterday on my desk, too. It’s either going towards both MAC Chill and some boots! 🙂

What are you up to today? It’s raining here so I’m still contemplating if I’m going to brave the weather.

    Hi Allie,

That’s so funny — I’m the opposite if you. I get asked by friends to apply makeup on them from time to time and I just can’t do it! The hardest thing is eyeliner… I’m so afraid of poking somebody’s eye out!

You have a great Sunday, too! Got anything exciting on your plate?

Thanks! The bunny’s been MIA for so long… I don’t even remember his name!

LOL, isn’t finding random stuff fun?

Oh yah, I think Tabs is a Britney fan and just doesn’t know it yet! 🙂

    Hi Karen,

The finger puppet is so cute! My eyes have been so sensitive lately, I cry when I put eyeliner on T_T And yes, I’m planning to learn how to apply falsies correctly as well. I just got a free pair of Sephora lashes 🙂 For background music, I’m slowly driving myself emo by replaying Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” over and over in my headphone. I need to buy his new CD because I really like almost all the songs after listening online.

Eyeliner is tough, especially when your client/friend doesn’t usually wear much makeup. I find mascara to be the hardest though–people are terrified of that little wand.

The guy I’m dating (no status as of yet, so I have to phrase it like this) is coming to visit me today. We live a couple hours apart, and haven’t seen each other in a month, so I’m excited.

Enjoy the rest of your day 🙂

    Hi Karen

That photoshopped picture of you is amazing. No wonder you got so distracted. After reading this post I felt as though I should be cleaning up around my desk [my bed] and my bookshelf [the floor] as well, since finals have been kicking me in the butt and I haven’t had much time on my hands. I love fingerpuppets too. When Starbucks used to sell them, I’d always get one with my Tall Caramel Machiatto with extra caramel 😛 Hope your lash experiments go well.

    Hi Yadiq,

I did a little bit today but not as much as I wanted to (arrgghh).

When it’s gloomy and cold out all I want to do is just stay in bed and watch TV!

Oh, I just love those shows about cakes on Food Network!

    Hi Allie,

Yeah, I tried to apply mascara once on a person and it was a hot mess! I gotta give you artists props for your steady hands.

I hope your date went well today and that you had fun!

I ended up loafing around the house and going to the grocery store. Nothing too exciting.

    Hi Stephie,

    Aww, thanks!

When my schedule gets busy my work space goes to sh*t, so you’re not alone! 🙂 I’m going to try hard to not let stuff pile up… it’s tough, though!

How many finals do you have left? Are you almost done?

BTW, you just made me crave a tall Caramel Machiato… YUM!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
