So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start. ?

Tatiana says
Welcome home! Has Rosie forgiven you for leaving her for a week?
I thought you were on the windward side of the island. Those early in the week beach photos looked so familiar to me. That last photo of the lagoon looked so inviting.
As someone who is scared of being in water deeper than my knees and burns within five minutes in the sun, I cannot figure out why I love Hawaii so much. But I do. Hoping when this pandemic is over or mostly over that I can get Dear Husband to take me to Hawaii. In the meantime we’re heading up to Pt. Reyes tomorrow or Wed.
Hope you have a good week!

1. Desert or beach?
BEACH. Dear God, please, a beach. The desert kills me.
2. If you had to tend bar for a friend’s wedding, how would you do?
Badly. I’ve never drunk alcohol in my life, so it’s fair to say I have no idea how a bloody Mary is made…at all. I know it involves celery, tomato juice and some form of alcohol. That’s it. XD

Fried chicken. I loathe sushi.
4. Inner corner highlight or brow bone highlight?
Inner corner highlight for these really dark circles please.
5. Makeup you’d wear on a casual hot day?
Nothing except sunscreen if I can get away with it. If I must, a good amount of sunscreen (I burn like a lobster), concealer, mascara, brow gel and something on my lips. NOTHING ELSE. I really cannot tolerate much on hot days.

UD Anarchy.
8. Your potato dish of choice?
My grams’ potato puff…if you can call it a potato dish. It has a heap ton of cream cheese, an egg, some butter and milk, potatoes and a dash of paprika. Turns into a giant puff and I LIVE FOR IT.
9. What topics do you know well enough to do a Ted Talk on?
Disability inaccessibility and other injustices that we are denied that is both systemically written into our government laws and culturally taught. Did you know that what is happening to Britney Spears and her IUD happens to disabled people regularly? It’s LEGAL thanks to a Supreme Court case called Buck v. Bell (1927) where the judge said that it’s perfectly legal that a conservator can forcibly sterilize a mentally unfit/disabled person without their consent for “three generations of imbeciles are enough,” as the judge famously said. Other things full-time conservators can legally do: withhold money, take away vehicles, admit their ward to the psychiatric ward without ward’s consent, take away the keys, force them to go to a doctor he/she does not need, forcibly take medications, take away their carers, fire their carers and hire new ones at will, talk to doctors without ward’s consent, sign all legal documents without ward’s consent and on and on and on.
This is not unique to Britney. Britney is just famous.
Adeliana says
1. Desert or beach?
Beach, beach, beach, beach, beach!!! After spending too long in central Los Angeles and to and fro-ing into the Inland Empire I can safely say I am not a desert girl.
2. If you had to tend bar for a friend’s wedding, how would you do?
So awful ! Even if the only drink available was water, I did bar work once and either forgot what the order was or if I got the order right I forgot who I was serving.

4. Inner corner highlight or brow bone highlight?
Inner corner highlight, it makes me look so much fresher.

Waterproof mascara, either L’oreal Bambi Lash or Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High – the maybelline one dries out fast but does not budge even in extreme humidity.

Any kind of warm Christmassy scent (cinnamon, vanilla, whisky) or the sort of soft powdery scent that Philosophy’s Baby Grace had.

My boyfriend is Slovak and prepares potatoes with cumin seeds and sauerkraut – perfection.

At the moment I couldn’t do a single thing but when I am in my flow then either something psychology based or something on acting and improv.

Karen, since you like the scents of lavender and coffee, you should try Coffee Break by Maison Martin Margiela. It is a blend of milk and lavender with a hint of coffee. So calm and cozy!
