So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start. 🌻

Opaque all the way, lady, and hold the shimmer too!
2. Fruits or vegetables?
Hmm… I love both dearly, but seeing as it’s still morning and I’m about to have some plain Greek yogurt…I’ll go with fruit. Specifically, berries!
3. How good are you at confrontation?
Oh, my gosh, I’m absolutely terrible at confrontation, but I’m…working on it? LOL. I tend to bottle things up until I eventually explode. It ain’t pretty.
4. Sweatshirt with a hood, or a button-up cardigan?
I’m going to shock myself (GASP) and go for the button-up cardigan.
5. Lipstick — warm red or cool red?
I like both for different reasons, but I’ll go with warm red because I have warm skin tone.
6. Have you ever climbed a tree only to discover you couldn’t find a way down?
Nah, girl! I grew up in a neighborhood that was still relatively new at the time, and there weren’t a lot of large, mature trees around to climb.
7. Oatmeal cookies or chocolate chip cookies?
Right now I would LOVE a batch of oatmeal cookies with raisins. 😊
8. Strapless bras — love ’em or leave ’em?
Eff all the strapless bras, I’m so done with them, so leave ’em. MY GIRLS NEED STRAPS!
9. What show (or shows) are you currently watching?
Firefly Lane on Netflix. It’s about two best friends and the ups and downs in their relationship. Eh, I think it’s just OK so far… Somehow, though, I’ve gotten sucked in!

1. Sheer or opaque pink polish? You know I’m going with the sheer!!
2. Fruits or vegetables? Ugh. Am I being force fed and can’t refuse? HAHA! Vegetables but they need a glaze or a sauce or cheese or a swimming pool full of clarified butter. 😉
3. How good are you at confrontation? Depends on what you mean by good. If it’s personal, I will almost always speak my mind but maybe with less diplomacy than I should. And strong emotion usually ends in tears for me, so calm and collected confrontation is not one of my best qualities. If it’s professional, I’m much more focused on not losing my temper and instead trying to get others to change their behavior/work with me. More flies with honey, and all that. 🙂
4. Sweatshirt with a hood, or a button-up cardigan? Sweatshirt!
5. Lipstick — warm red or cool red? Cool red. Makes my teeth look whiter. The 5 times ever in my life that I’ve worn red lipstick. HAHA!
6. Have you ever climbed a tree only to discover you couldn’t find a way down? No, but down has always been harder for me than up!
7. Oatmeal cookies or chocolate-chip cookies? Same as you – oatmeal raisin pls.
8. Strapless bras — love ’em or leave ’em? Leave ’em. Too uncomfortable and needing constant adjusting (in my experience).
9. What show (or shows) are you currently watching? Death in Paradise. It’s a light BBC show. It’s “crime” and “drama” the way that Murder She Wrote is. 🙂

1. Sheer or opaque pink polish? Definitely sheer which is more flattering on. Y old hands.
2. Fruits or vegetables? Vegetables. Although I’m a vegetarian, I’m really not that into fruit unless it’s ripe and fresh from the tree or vine.
3. How good are you at confrontation? I’m good at holding firm without “losing it”. In my job I often served as mediator or enforcer. I learned to speak clearly and firmly without being disrespectful.
4. Sweatshirt with a hood, or a button-up cardigan? Hoodie for weekend casual, cardigan for daytime errand running.
5. Lipstick — warm red or cool red? Cool although I seldom wear full on red anymore because my lips have thinned with age.
6. Have you ever climbed a tree only to discover you couldn’t find a way down? Yes! When I was very little, I followed the big kids up a tree and then they left me up there and ran off. I couldn’t figure out how to get down and was up in the tree crying until my uncle came and got me down. I’m in my late 70’s and still remember how I felt.
7. Oatmeal cookies or chocolate-chip cookies? Chocolate chip or better yet, oatmeal with chocolate chips.
8. Strapless bras — love ’em or leave ’em? I can’t wear them. I’m very small breasted and if I exhale, the strapless just slips right down. I need something to hold the girls up and give them shape.
9. What show (or shows) are you currently watching? Prodigal Son, Blacklist, and The Resident.

February 8th, 2021 at 12:36 pmBuddeja comes in a multitude of bright colors which the butterflies love. It seems like everyone in our neighborhood grows it because it is easy to maintain. I use it to fill in what would otherwise be empty spaces and add an abundance of springtime colors. We also have a very long privat hedge running along two sides of our property. Both the bees and butterflies love its nectar. Running along the back fence we have honeysuckle, jasmine, and lilac. Flowers like zinnias, asters, marigolds, and snapdragons are also favorites of butterflies. BTW, butterlies seem to love old fruit. We cut oranges in half and set them out for the butterflies. They also like berries that are just beginning to rot.

I just found The Salon Life YouTube channel last night actually and spent hours watching her swatch opaque and sheer whites, nudes, etc. I learned a lot about what colors and formulas I will look for. Her nail model really makes the channel different!
2. Fruits or vegetables? Vegetables, but not night shades because I want to be like Tom Brady.

No. But probably because I haven’t climbed very many! There was (is) a tree in the front of my childhood home that I would climb to my favorite sitting spot. My dad found a picture of me recently standing on a branch of my “climbing tree.” I was wearing long purple pants, 3 or 4 necklaces, big bow in my hair. You know, typical climbing gear! This was circa 1987.
7. Oatmeal cookies or chocolate-chip cookies?
Choc chip. But oatmeal chocolate chip really are the best of both worlds.

Leave em!
9. What show (or shows) are you currently watching?
I tend to watch movies instead of series these days, but the most recent show I binged was Bonding on Netflix. It’s darkly comedic and certainly not for everyone, but the episodes are short and it’s oddly touching. Season 2 dropped a couple of weeks ago and I will watch soon.

We just finished watching Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix and I’m looking for something new. I read the book Firefly Lane, so I’ll probably check out the series to see how it compares.

I’ve climbed trees and garages and when I couldn’t get down, just jump. It’s surprising that only my eldest brother broke his arm. And that was from playing tackle football.

Milkweed is an important plant for Monarch butterflies. It provides the nourishment the caterpillars need to transform into adult butterflies.

-“Madre solo hay dos”, a Mexican show about two women who gave birth in the same hospital and their daughters were switched. I think it’s good enough to keep watching it but not groundbreaking (it’s from Netflix so I’m sure you can find it with subtitles or dubbed in English).
-“True Beauty”, a K-drama which is so ridiculous I can’t stop laughing, if you can watch it.
-“Wandavision”, I never thought a MCU show was going to be that good, I’m just waiting each week for the next episode.

No – the years I was that age were primarily spent in the Mojave desert; the only trees of any size were on the military base, and we didn’t live there. (They had trees because they spared no expense in watering their landscape. I suspect that has changed by now.)

This weekend I visited my brother, who has access to a bunch of channels. We binge watched some old favorites, Murdoch Mysteries and EastEnders, as well as two new-to-me shows, Toast of London (starring hilariously quirky Matt Berry), and The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher (a quite serious true crime drama). I only have antenna tv at home, so you can count on me to watch The Bachelor. Oh, the drama! The DRAMA!
