So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start.
1. Who takes care of your brows?
To quote the great De La Soul, “It’s just me, myself and I.”
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I don’t do accent nails anymore (I prefer wearing all the same shade), but when I did, I’d always pick my ring finger, and I do it on both hands. To me it always seemed more balanced that way. I wonder if anyone out there did an accent middle finger. Or an accent thumb?
3. YOU MUST CHOOSE: Would you rather 1) have to walk around with bare feet for a week (no shoes, no socks, no slippers — absolutely nothing. Just your plain ol’ bare feet on the ground), or 2) have to skip absolutely ALL teeth-related maintenance for a week (i.e. no brushing of any kind, no flossing, no mouthwash, NOTHING)? Note: “Neither” is not a valid option. You have to pick one.
First of all, GROSS. Second, as much as it would kill me, because I’m such a stickler for oral hygiene, I’d go with option 2… I’d rather have a funky mouth than worry about stepping on a nail or broken glass.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Estée Lauder Pleasures. My fave back in college!
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“Go back to sleep, lovie. It’s not time to wake up yet.”
Ya learn something new every day
In my case, the last tidbit of knowledge had to do with nail polish. My fingers are finally painted for the first time in two weeks, YAY! They’ve been bare for a spell because after I removed my last manicure, a peachy pastel by Sally Hansen, I told myself that I’d paint my nails in a few hours, but of course I got distracted, so the few hours turned into a few days, which turned into two weeks…
I course-corrected that on Friday and painted my nails a creamy mauve — Sally Hansen Mave-olous, one of the Miracle Gel Liners.
No chips so far! It held up well all weekend long, but I think I’m *almost* ready to shift gears into something other than a pastel… It feels like time for a change.
What’s the situation with your nails today? Are you wearing a fresh coat?
Have a good rest of your Monday, ‘k? 😊
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Question time! Here they are to copy/paste with your answers in a comment. Talk to you soon.
1. Who takes care of your brows?
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
3. Would you rather 1) have to walk around with bare feet outside for a week (no shoes, no socks, no slippers, absolutely no nothing, just your plain ol’ bare feet on the ground), or 2) have to skip absolutely ALL tooth maintenance for a week (so no tooth brushing, no brushing your teeth with toothpaste on a finger, no flossing, no mouthwash, NOTHING)? By the way, “neither” is not an answer, you have to pick one or the other.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
5. Last thing you said to someone?
Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend! 🙂
1. Who takes care of your brows? I’m De La Soul, as well. HAHA!
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? I haven’t done that but I have done it for a pedicure before – a bit of nail art on my big toe. I feel like I’d probably do my thumb or pinkie for a manicure.
You’re killing me. I was like “I’d NEVER go barefoot” until I read the choice. Barefoot, all the way. I don’t think I could last a day without brushing. I can’t even really think about it because it makes me want to brush NOW. 🙂
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? Poison (Dior) or LouLou by Cacharel.
5. Last thing you said to someone? Out loud? HAHA! It must have been “Hi there!”
1. Who takes care of your brows?
Me! It took a long time for them to grow back from overplucking so I’m not about to let someone pour wax on them!
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I rarely do an accent nail, but both ring fingers if I do.
I would pick #1. I don’t think I could handle a rotten mouth for a week.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Clinique Happy.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
I was discussing our weekend shopping with a co-worker, so I was telling her what I bought with my $10 JCPenney coupon.
Now I’m curious, did you tell Connor Claire or Tabs to go back to sleep?!
I really love mauve nail polishes! Right now I have on a pastel purple in the spirit of Easter!
1. Who takes care of your brows? i go to this nice threading place for my brows. you recently , i have been playing around with my brow looks.

I would pick no shoes because i had three crowns done and i cant take any more needles
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? dolce and gabbana light blue
5. Last thing you said to someone? stop teasing me, you really are egging me on.
1. Who takes care of your brows? Me, it’s just stray hair maintenance.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? Ring finger as well, but it’s been years.
I guess the feet, but I’m taking the week off and staying home.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? The original Sugar from Fresh. The perfect balance of sweet lemony goodness.
5. Last thing you said to someone? It’s just not the kind of fantasy I can get into (about GoT).
1. Who takes care of your brows?
Me. I used to get them threaded, but it’s easier to maintain them on my own.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I’ve always done the same color, but if I were to do an accent I like the ring fingers.
Hmm…that’s a tough one. I think I would go with no tooth maintenance…but hopefully chewing gum doesn’t count as maintenance!
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
You know, I don’t really have a signature scent. Although back in the day, it was Sweet Pea from Bath & Body Works.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
See ya! To my husband after I dropped him off at work.
My nail situation is bad. I have a three week old gel mani growing out. Some nails are long, but three have broken down at the very base. I love the staying power of professional gel manicures, but they are rough on my nails. I need to try some of the at-home gel polishes!
Happy Monday!
Hi Ruchita,
The at-home gel ones that I’ve tried have been great. I like Essie and Sally Hansen.
1. Who takes care of your brows? I do most of the time every once in awhile I will have them waxed or threading done by professional
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? I normally don’t but if I did I guess ring fingers both side I wear enough rings I don’t need the extra I’m huge jewelry lover.
I would so do number 2 as well I can’t stand not having on slippers or shoes at all times if I’m not in bed lol.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? Alfred sung called pure also from the body shop called white musk way back when they had them in those small bottles and it was an oil. I miss that oil it lasted forever lol.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
Just called a call from my hubby mike asking me about what tv he should buy as we r about finished Reno our basement rec room that is 27” by 30” one huge long wall is 3/4 the length of our bungalow he asked what size tv should I get the 75” or the 82” he goes on to explain tv talk I know nothing about lol. So I said get whatever one u would want down thee it’s your bar room sport room etc. Family time fun room.
Congrats on your home renovation! We’ll be doing a few this summer. I’m excited and scared at the same time.
Thanks we moved here in 2014 so we did living room flooring Galway and bedroom flooring first that yr next yr we did the kitchen quartz counters and red walls which I love. After basement is finished I want to refresh the main bathroom and than a few outside things like our two decks by using that composite board so we don’t have any up keep to the front and back deck. Love picking the colours and decor flooring etc so fun.
1. Who takes care of your brows?
Me, although they are uneven right now. I need to find someone local I can trust to at least even things out.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I haven’t polished my fingernails in forever, but I would probably accent my thumbs.
I’d skip the tooth maintenance. Three major reasons – 1) I have princess feet and have never just been able to walk barefoot unless it’s on a sandy beach on a cool-ish day; 2) I can’t go to work if I can’t wear shoes; 3) I can probably just rinse my mouth with water and chew on mint for a week without people smelling me from feet away.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Demeter Sticky Toffee Pudding or Demeter Flowering Tonka.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“Run like hell” as we were both escaping a work meeting the second it was acceptable to do so.
Good luck on your brow search, E.D. Hope you can find someone you like!
1. Who takes care of your brows?
Me, until they get out of hand. (Like they are now!) Mom and I are taking our two older girls to the salon on Thursday for a group eyebrow waxing.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
My pointer finger, although I seldom do an accent nail.
Girl please, I grew up in the country. I spent entire summers with no shoes on, lol.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
I never wore perfume when I was younger, so I don’t really have one. Which is funny, because now I seldom go a day without any, even when I’m just at home.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“Are you sure you don’t want one of these sweet potatoes for lunch?”
Do you call Connor ‘lovie’? That’s so cute. I call our 12 year old that sometimes.
Hi Suzanne,
Yes! I call her “my love” and “loved one” and “love bug,” too. She (like Tabs) has a bunch of nicknames. 🙂 I’m sure your girls have tons of them too!
Oh gosh yes! The girls and the dog, lol. We’ve called the baby ‘Baby Shark’ so many times that she’ll answer to that before she answers to her actual name. And my mom nick-named each of them a baked good when they were born: Muffin, Cupcake, Cookie, and Brownie.
HA HA HA! Same thing with Tabs too! He has so many names. It’s a miracle either of them even know their real names.
Let’s see, if I had a baked goods nickname, hmm… I’d probably be short cake, because of the whole vertically challenged thing. 🙂
1. Who takes care of your brows? Moi! I pluck as little as possible and fill in with Boy Brow from Glossier.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? The ring finger on both hands, and occasionally the pointer too. If I’m feeling frisky, then my middle finger of both hands.
Bare feet. I can’t handle fuzzy teeth and I was raised on a farm, so I think I could do bare feet.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? Lancôme Tresor. I have a little spray bottle of it in my purse. I prefer other scents these days, but I’ll always love Tresor.
5. Last thing you said to someone? “Carl, stop chewing on your sister!” Carl is our four month old pug puppy, and he’s always bugging our 12 year old pug girl Tofu. We’re pug people.
My nails are a neon coral with iridescent flakies called “Coral Fixation” by indie brand Moonshine Mani. I painted them yesterday, we drove to Lancaster, CA to see the poppy superbloom and I wanted bright nails!
Were there a lot of people at the superbloom? I’ve heard that that place gets packed.
Happy Monday, Karen!
1. Who takes care of your brows?
It me 🙂
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I usually pick ring finger, too! Haven’t done this in a hot second, tho.
Ugggh. If it was for a week of my normal life… I’d pick bare feet. (Even though I live in NYC.) If it was a survivor sitch where I was like, also running for my life? I’ll take the shoes, thanks!
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
I’ve steadfastly adored two Fragonard fragrances for the last 10 years or so: Diamant (my winter scent) and Miranda (my summer scent).
5. Last thing you said to someone?
Probably “cool,” to my boss 🙂
Happy Monday to you, too, Shannon!
1. Who takes care of your brows? Like you, just me, myself and I. I don’t trust anyone to not make them too skinny. I like them full.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? My left ring finger. But I rarely do it unless I’m testing out a new color.
I’d rather walk around barefoot, as long as I got to scrub my feet every night before I crawled into bed.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? There’s a couple of them. The original YSL Opium, but only in the winter. Chanel No. 19. Giorgio Armani Sensi (which sadly has been discontinued.)
5. Last thing you said to someone? Je. Suis. Très. Fatigué.
My nails are bare. I’ve been on a cooking/baking marathon (sometimes I just want to cook and eat all this stuff. And it’s spring, so vegetables, yeah!) the past week and nothing ruins my manicures more than chopping, cooking and cleaning up afterwards. I just got a bottle of Essie “Touch of Sugar” that I want to try. Baby carnation pink w/gold shimmer.
Ooh, what have you made so far? I still have to figure out what to feed the family for Easter on Sunday.
Potato and leek salad with pesto sauce. Braised short ribs. Polenta with creme fraiche. Okra masala. Little gem wedge salad with bacon, red onion, tomatoes and blue cheese dressing. Chocolate cake served with whipt cream. Planning this as the main for Easter. http://www.pardonyourfrench.com/one-pan-garlic-lamb-chops-with-potatoes-and-carrots/
1. Who takes care of your brows? I get them waxed about every six weeks at the salon. Otherwise, it’s me.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? I don’t do this very often. Usually it’s the ring finger on both hands.
Walk around without shoes. I don’t go out much. lol
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Lady Gaga Fame Black Fluid. It was discontinued a few years back, so when I use up my backups I’ll be very sad.
5. Last thing you said to someone? “Love you, too,” on the phone with my older son.
Oh, current nails situation is iGel Beauty Dip & Dap Powder in periwinkle with holographic microglitter. It’s gorgeous!
Sounds amazing! Is it hard to remove? That’s one of the reasons why I don’t do a lot of glitter… The removal process is tedious.
1. The lady at the local nail bar. It’s $10. I can just walk in without an appt and rarely have to wait. She’s fast and always does an amazing job.
2. Thumbs! I tested a shade on my left thumb a few days ago but haven’t finished painting the rest of my nails. So my one thumb looks like a festive Easter egg while the rest are bare! It hasn’t gotten any chips yet so I’m did a pretty good job. Just need to find the time to do the rest.
3. Barefoot! In fact at our family reunions over the summer I usually am barefoot the entire week. It’s amazing.
4. I haven’t had a perfume that long. The first one that comes to mind is light blue by Dolce & Gabbana. I think I wore that one the longest. Right now I’m near the bottom of a perfume by Shakira. My husband got it for me. Usually he and I have different tastes in what I wear (he likes super sweet scents, I’m a musk gal) but this one we both really like!
5. Talking to my boys about our flowers. “The tulips lost their petals but the Irises look good!”
I love that your boys are interested in flowers. 🙂 I just taught Connor “tulip” and “hydrangea” today!
1. Who takes care of your brows?
Moi!
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
I rarely do my nails or get them done, and I’ve never done an accent nail, but it would be the ring finger.
Oh god. I can’t be barefoot now because of my broken foot so I guess no oral hygiene.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre!
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“I love you” to my husband.
1. Who takes care of your brows?
I used to have a lady named Katie do them, but I need a new one.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
Ring finger.
NO TOOTH MAINTENANCE????? I think not. I’ll go around with bare feet, thank you. I’ll just turn up the temperature in my house so my feet don’t turn purple. Ha ha.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Just some peppermint essential oil.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“I. Hate. Her.” I was SO MAD. So. So mad.
1. Who takes care of your brows?
I take care of my brows!
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
The pointer finger, ring finger or the thumb!
I choose option one. My feet are so happy to be bare!
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Viva La Juicy. I never really switch things up much!
5. Last thing you said to someone?
Have fun! I told my daughter as I dropped her off at her job😊
1. Who takes care of your brows?
A lady down the street.
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use?
Don’t think I’ve ever done an accent nail. Just not into it…
I think it would be a week of nothing on my feet over the alternative. Maybe I’d get a fresh pedicure done before said week of no shoes? I don’t know.. Actually in India, where I’m originally from, I’d probably be able to entertain that idea. But I can’t imagine this scenario playing out in the first world.
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day?
Hermès Le Jardin Sur Le Nil.
5. Last thing you said to someone?
“Ok.”
1. Who takes care of your brows? Me, myself and I. I don’t trust anyone else!
2. If/when you incorporate an accent nail into your manicure, which finger do you typically use? I almost always do my ring fingers and I really love an accent nail by the way. Occasionally I’ll do a thumb–usually the left.
Walk barefoot. I love to walk barefoot even when it’s dangerous!
4. What’s a perfume you’ve worn for years and still love to this day? Karma from Lush.
5. Last thing you said to someone? thank you
