I have an auntie (I think she’s my auntie… To be honest, I’m not really sure. She’s a lady of a certain age who I’ve always called “Auntie,” but I don’t know if I’m actually related to her, HA HA HA!) who has her eyeliner and brows periodically tattooed every few years, and every single time I see her, I think, “Now THAT is commitment to your eyeliner.”

I don’t think I could ever commit to that degree to a particular liner color or style, although I do go through phases where I’ll wear my liner a certain way for weeks or months… Like, last spring and summer, I was heavily into a very thin, very dainty barely-there black liquid liner kitten flick. And before that, I was into brown pencil to tightline, and then brown along the lower water line (which was then smudged ever-so-slightly on the outer corner).
So, I go through phases.

My current eyeliner phase has me loving slightly thicker, I guess, cat eye flicks? A little bit more substantial than a dainty feline flick, but still not a full-on bat wing.
(Side note: I’ve been very inspired by Charlotte Tilbury’s style lately, which I think has something to do with it.)
How about you? How do you like to wear your liner these days?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
What foundation and lipstick do you have in this picture ? I love it. ❤️
It’s me, I’m your Auntie!
I was unfortunately part of the late 90s early 2000s generation that went thin line eyebrows (38yo currently). I killed the root in most of it. Only a few hairs grow back (even tried Rogaine!) So eventually went straight to tattooing.
I just recently came back from Las Vegas (see “msamberred” on IG for her work) to get my eyebrows and eyeliner touched up. It’s more like a lash enhancement vs. thick eyeliner/cat eye/wing. Most days I just roll out of bed and put a touch of concealer and off to work I go!
Lately I’ve been into Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Hustle. I get it as close into my lashes as possible and smudge it a bit before it sets. Makes my lashes look a little thicker and it’s not as stark as black.
I’ve been super into that Clinique liner, a little upturned at the end and only on the outer third of my eye and very thin. My eyes are pretty round so if I line the whole eye then it is very stark I think. This just gives me a little oomph.
I will say I want to try KJH’s winged eyeliner for hooded eyes. It looks so killer but totally artsy at the same time.
I’m having one of those seasons where my eyes are constantly itching and watering so I haven’t been wearing any.
I think I would love to get a liner tattoo. I would love to roll out of bed looking made up but I’m too much of a pussy cat!
p.s. that before and kitty shot is slaying me!!!
I’m boring! Usually just a semi thin line of black gel liner. I’m incapable of winged liner (plus my skin is too oily to bother with something like that). When I’m feeling fancy I like to smudge a dark brown eyeshadow (MAC Brun) on my upper lash line and try to do the thinnest line of gel liner possible on top of it. It gives a nice, smoky effect. Subtle but a bit of extra.
Hi Karen ,
I hope you are having an in stressful week before Xmas 🎄
I have my brows Microbladed but eyeliner since I have at least 200 colors needs to be done daily .
I have an Estée lauder blue that goes on smoothly and stays put .
No need for eyeshadow either .
Even though I adore black winged liner and wear it almost every day, I don’t think I could commit to having it tattooed on. The second I had, I would probably want to do something else, and then there is always the fear that they will botch it and I will have wonky liner for the years to come.
Anne recently posted … Is Olaplex worth it? And how does it work?
I do a small wing with Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Liner in brown most days!
