Because I sure can’t, LOL! And that’s funny to me because I can remember seemingly smaller makeup-related details to a T, like the day I bought my first tube of MAC Paramount Lipstick, but I have absolutely no clue which nail polish or eyeshadow or gloss I wore on my wedding day, or the liner I wore to the prom, or the lipstick I wore to college graduation (although I’m pretty sure I was wearing MAC Paramount).
It’s like I have makeup amnesia for all of the big events of my life!
I’m guessing that I was probably just caught up in the moments on those particular days, since I’m the type of person who likes to get up in the mix and follow everything that’s happening because it lets me exist under the illusion that I have some semblance of control over my life.
It’s so weird to me, though, that I can remember certain minutiae, like chasing down the pastry chef who forgot to put the cake topper on the wedding cake, but I can’t remember the name of the delicate, semi-sheer pink shade of OPI polish I wore on my nails.
Regarding my wedding day, I do remember having a general look in mind and asking the makeup artist to do something smoky with neutral browns, and peachy cheeks and lips (SURPRISE!).
How about you? Can you remember the makeup details for your big life events?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I would say no. But I have a funny story about when I was a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding. She had gone to get a pedicure and she loved this orange-y color she found at the salon and wanted all the bridesmaids to do that for their nails and toes. I half jokingly said “Well what color is it, I probably have it!” Her and I both knowing that I am a nail polish hoarder. So she gets the bottle and reads it to me “It’s from OPI and it’s called ‘My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours'” I looked through my oranges and lo and behold I already had it in my collection, lol!

Hi Karen!
I dont remember any makeup deets on my wedding day. All I know I was wearing something I bought from Sephora. LOL
I do remember the makeup I wore when I gave birth though! Hahaha I was so inspired by Emily Noel’s look when she gave birth to her second baby that I was determined to look purdy while pushing as well. It was not a full-on makeup per se but I had makeup for sure. On my eyes: Covergirl (I think- the pink tube) waterproof mascara, Mac eyeliner, Mac Prep & Prime concealer in bright forecast. On my face: IT cosmetics CC cream that Ive set with Mac mineralize skin finish powder. On my lips was my ever dependable Lipstick Queen Frog Prince lippie which I was reapplying every so often during labor. Oh and I got me some bronzer too. Hoola FTW. LOL Granted that was just almost a year ago but at least I still remember after all the epidural I got. That day was crazy. ☺️
Happy hump day! ~Cha

Awwww, look at you on your happy day! 🙂 I remember my wedding makeup because I’d hired someone to do it for me. It was all Clinique and I had a full face, though I only remember the name of the lipstick. And I know my shadow was a couple shades of pink. Is smoky pink a thing? HAHA! Lipstick was my all time fave (sadly discontinued and my one tube is a melted mess from being left in a hot car): Just Gorgeous.

I do remember some of what I wore for my wedding…NARS Tahoe foundation, ELF blush, Make Up For Ever Moulin Rouge lipstick, Jessica Cosmetics Born 2 Pansy on my nails and Pretty Serious Cosmetics Emma Louise on my toes.

I remember I hired a woman I met at the Bobbi brown counter in Bloomingdales in the city. My wedding was in the winter of 1997 right after New Years and I definitely did my usual Bobbi look, except the MA used Heather eyeshadow which has a bit of a purple hue to it and my all time favorite lipstick at the time which was the shade Bobbi. She also did my sister’s and mother’s makeup as well.
For Zack’s Bar Mitzvah, I did my own makeup, Bobbi again.

Yep! I remember the makeup I wore on my wedding day, 22 1/2 years ago! The nail polish I wore, the toenail polish I wore, the nail polish I was wearing when both of my daughters were born, the lipstick I wore the night I met my husband, but I have a bizarre memory for things like that. Ask me what I ate yesterday, I couldn’t tell you!

I did my own makeup on my wedding day in 2013 and remember most of the details, even what primer I used, that I mixed two different bases, the eyeliner and mascara (the LE Chanel Khaki ones!), both the liquid and powder blushes I wore, and the OPI sparkly gel nail polish that my husband hated (he hates pink nail polish). The eyes were mostly this cheap Sephora palette with kind of a peachy khaki theme going on.

so funny the deets we do and don’t remember! I am about the same. but certain items of makeup seem to mark my life milestones and reflect my state of mind at the time. Like the first bottle of department store polish bought with my own money (shimmery purple Fashion Fair), my very first eyeshadow(Clinique TouchBase in Canvas), my first Chanel cosmetics item(I was gifted a bottle of Vamp), when I swapped tinted moisturizer for foundation(about the same time I retired the diaper bag) or going through my “I need to learn highlighter and bronzer” phase, hahaha! I can tell you all about that, for sure.

I eloped 29 years ago. I remember a lot from that weekend, but not my makeup. I do remember being done getting ready before the best man and looking down and going, “Shoot these shoes don’t really work with this dress. I can’t get married.” and Dear Husband urging his best man to hurry up and finished getting ready before I backed out.
The makeup was probably some combination of Clinique and Prescriptives products because that’s what I wore back then.
I also remember playing miniature golf before the ceremony and going gambling in a casino afterwards and ripping off my pantyhose and stuffing them in the trash can in the ladies’ restroom because they were driving me crazy. I also remember coming home the backup to the bay bridge maze was all the past Albany and for the first time ever I did not lose my shiz about traffic because I was married and happy and nothing else mattered.

I did my own makeup for my Fall 1999 wedding. I don’t remember any particular colors except the lipstick. It was my favorite “dressy” lipstick that pretty much summed up the 1990’s for me – a nice shiny brown called Brun Sepia by Lancome.
Rachel Runyan says
I did all my own makeup for major events. I can remember what makeup I wore at my wedding, my makeup for my high school senior portrait, and my makeup for senior prom. I wasn’t wearing makeup when I got engaged (I got a ring on a Christmas morning and was still in my nightgown). I wasn’t wearing makeup either time I gave birth. I wasn’t wearing makeup when my mom died.

I remember best my makeup for my sister’s wedding Maybe because she had a specific vision for me as her maid of honor&it wasn’t my typical makeup. Alot more than what i usually wear for her pictures.
Your makeup was perfect. You looked like you with glowing, naturally pretty makeup!

I don’t remember my makeup for my wedding….I had a makeup artist do it. But I remember having French manicure on my nails and my husbands favorite color nail polish on my toes! I’m really Not a Waitress by OPI! Best red ever!!

I did my makeup for my wedding myself, and I still remember what I wore, but I can´t remember any other special day makeup.

I didn’t wear any make-up on my wedding day except mascara, but at the evening do I wore some Clinique pale peach creme eyeshadow. In the spirit of ‘More must be Good’, I put far too much on and in the photos I look most peculiar – like my eyes were popping out of my head!

Well I haven’t gotten married, but I cannot remember completely what I used in both high school and college graduation.
From high school graduation I remember mixing two tinted moisturizers to get my perfect shade and for my college graduation I remember my lipstick combo: MAC Amor prohibido and Bissu lipliner.
You look so gorgeous in those photos Karen and somehow I remember you said that when El Hub proposed to you, you were wearing a NARS blush.
Michele DiCola says
I do remember.
I was a true 60’s girls.
Plenty of eyeliner and no lipstick !
Or just a gloss.
