5 Things I’ve Been Loving Lately

June 29th, 2021 by Karen 13 Comments

1. Old-school Gap body splash scents from the ’90s

Remember Grass? And Dream?! I loved those back in the day. I found them recently at a Gap Outlet near my house, and I had to grab a bottle just for fun. I didn’t get Heaven though because one of my college roommates (who I eventually had a falling out with) wore it all the time, and every time I catch a whiff of it now, all I smell is betrayal, ha ha ha!

2. This $15 racerback tank dress from Eddie Bauer

It’s light as a feather and isn’t see-through. Oh, and did I mention that it’s only $14.99? I bought the solid black and blue and white striped!

3. Girl’s lunch dates at Panera

This is my favorite place to take Connor on lunch dates when it’s just us two, because THERE IS SO MUCH GLUTEN! ? I know it’s not super fancy or anything, but if you’re living that mom life, or if you just don’t want to cook, Panera has a lot going for it.

Logistically speaking: 1) there are always tables available (having a readily available place to put all your crap down is key), and 2) the bathroom is roomy, clean and easy to get to. Food-wise, I know Connor can always find something to eat, which is usually their mac and cheese, and I can always find a salad and soup that’ll suit whatever mood I’m in. Last time we were there, I got the Strawberry Poppyseed Salad with Chicken and the Broccoli Cheddar Soup. The prices aren’t too steep, either.

Sometimes we’ll split a cookie or a brownie for dessert, and occasionally on my way out I’ll grab a loaf of bread to go!

4. Fuji Apple Salad Dressing from Panera

Speaking of Panera, the Fuji Apple Salad is one of my favorites! I like to make different versions of it at home with this salad dressing, which I get at Target.

5. Ranier Cherries

Are you obsessed? BECAUSE I TOTALLY AM. I could happily eat an entire XXL bowl of these sweet and juicy cherries all by myself! Where I live in Northern California, though, the window to buy them is narrow. One week you see ’em, the next week you don’t. Poof! They’re gone until next year. So, whenever I run into them at the market, I buy as many as I can.

Oh my! I remember those scents from The Gap. I had no clue they were still available.
Eddie Bauer is still in business? All the stores nearby closed so I thought they were gone for good. I saw a black, racerback dress similar to the Eddie Bauer one in my Instagram Ad feed. Only it was closer to $170 and the largest size was like a 34 inch bust, which in my opinion is not a size L at all.
Love the picture of you and Connor together. I love her headband and also the print on your top/dress.

I understand that feeling about all the gluten, but with dairy because my sister can’t eat a lot so when we aren’t sharing food for her is all about the cheese. BTW both of you look so sweet on your girl’s lunch date.

What I’m loving right now are:

    1) The fact I got a job! So I have my own money again; I forgot how much relief economic independency gives.

    2) Revlon Gel envy nail lacquers, I love that they’re affordable and actually can last a week on my hands (something unachievable for me with normal polish).

I hope you’re still enjoying Hawaii.

I also like Panera. What a nice ritual for the two of you to share. I’m looking very much forward to post-pandemic café visits with my girls!

    Things I have been loving:

    1) Coconut oil as a moisturizer. I got the inspiration from a video I watched on the ayurvedic practice of abhyanga, and I’ve been rubbing the oil all over in the morning pre-shower. I use a gentle soap, and after the shower the subtle layer of oil remaining on my skin allows me to skip moisturizer. I love how natural and simple it feels.

    2) Verso night cream! This in the evening combined with azelaic acid has really made a big difference in evenness and glowyness for me! Also love the faint green tea scent and how fresh it feels. A tiny pea size amount is enough for my face and neck. https://www.versoskincare.com/nighttime/verso-night-cream (bought it when on sale obvs!)

    3) An Under Armor runner’s cap I randomly bought that looks kinda structured but is a light mesh material that can be easily rinsed and dried.

    4) Peonys. They are in full bloom in gardens where I live now and they make me swoooooon.

    5) I’m getting my first COVID shot today, and feel so grateful for it.

Have a good day Karen! ?

So funny, yesterday I ordered my favorite Avocado Cobb Salad from Panera Bread. I haven’t ordered from Panera since they closed the location in downtown Westfield. Thankfully, Doordash delivers to my office.

I love those Eddie Bauer dresses. I have a dress from Old Navy that is my go to Summer dress. Right now I am loving Chobani Raspberry Lemonade Greek Style Yogurt. A bit high on the sugar content, but so good. It’s like a dessert. I put it in the freezer, so let’s see how that works. I also bought the orange & cream flavor and did the same thing. I will have to let you know.

    Be well!

That salad sounds delicious! I’m going to try it next time I go there. How’s work going?

Isn#t it always that way with cherries? They are perfect for a week or two and then they are already off – if you can still find them. Cherry season and strawberry season are always too short.

That dress looks gorgeous, but I don’t wear racerback styles myself because of issues with bra straps. With a racer back you need to wear either strapless or halterneck bras, neither of which I find comfortable, or go bra-less, which I don’t like either. Or just have the straps showing, which I also don’t like. Unless there’s another solution I haven’t thought of? If it’s not too nosey, I would be interested to know how you wear it!

Hi, Miss Kitty! I usually wear a racerback bralette with mine. I loathe wearing strapless bras and this is the most comfortable solution for me.

Panera has the best lemonade ever, it is seriously so good. And I would kill for their chocolate chipper cookies. Lol!

YES on the Ranier cherries-I haunt grocery stores around this time of year and if I find some, they are in my cart pronto. So sweet and juicy-they just taste so healthy to me.
