1. These fall fragrances
Mind you, I don’t know if these three should be officially considered “fall scents,” but it is fall here now…and I have been rotating among these scents and lovin’ ’em.
- Maison Francis Kurkdijian Femin Pluriel: A chypre floral with notes of iris, violet, rose, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, orange blossom, vetiver and Indonesian patchouli leaf.
I like this one, and it doesn’t hurt that nobody else I know wears it.
- MAC Shadescent in Creme d’Nude: This soft, clean amber musk is spiked with caramel, and it smells like clean, schmexy skin.
- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle: An oriental floral with notes of mandarin orange, orange blossom, bergamot, jasmine, Turkish rose, ylang-ylang, vanilla, vetiver and white musk. This one’s a classic feminine “sweater weather” scent.
2. This funk version of Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You by Scary Pockets
Those runs are so crisp! Plus, how could you not love that name: “Scary Pockets?” LOL!
3. Vegetables
My sweet tooth GOES HARD, so 99% of the time I’m more likely to crave fruit than vegetables, but lately I’ve been all about the veggies. Literally, I’ve been eating plates and plates of them for lunch and dinner (not so much for breakfast though). My faves du jour right meow are the little bags of organic snap peas from Trader Joe’s.
Park me in a corner with a side of Bolthouse Salsa Ranch Yogurt Dressing, and I’M A HAPPY GIRL. ?
4. 1920’s-era dresses
Must be all the Downton Abbey I’ve been watching, LOL! I love the drop waists and how loose and comfortable everything looks. I also like the beading and the fringe (even if the fringe doesn’t look cat lady-friendly).
5. Having a cat place demands on me again
Every day, Pretty Girl Rosie opens up a little more and lets us get to know her better. This week we learned she’s quite feisty! Like, if she wants lurvies, and she wants them now, you’re GOING TO GIVE THEM TO HER. Or, there will be consequences…
She’s already claimed my desk and windowsill…
What’ve you been loving lately? ?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Rachel says
Aww your new addition is so sweet! I loooove snap peas, pick them up every time I’m at the store for a healthy snack.
Karen says
They’re soooo good. Do you eat yours raw or do you like to cook them first?
Rachel says
I do a little of both. I bring them to work to snack on fresh, but if we need a veggie with dinner that night I’ll saute them with a little olive oil and garlic.
Karen says
YUM! I’ve actually yet to try actually cooking them, believe it or not. Will have to saute them next time… Unless I eat them all out of the bag raw first LOL!
Chelsea says
Pretty Girl Rosie lives up to her bane! That coloring! I showed her to my mom and mom LOVES her (she knows about you and Tabs, and she supervises a county animal shelter so she spends a lot of time with kitties).
I have such a sweet tooth but I forget how much I love veggies! I’m trying to cook at home more and pack my own lunches to be a little healthier. I think I might have to give up gluten again which isn’t fun but if it helps my joint pain I’ll do it.
And girl it’s almost the twenties again so you gotta love the roaring twenties look!
Karen says
Aww, thank you for sharing my kitties with your mama. I love that. 🙂 How long has she worked at the county animal shelter?
Wait… I didn’t realize that you were back on the gluten!
And re: veggies. One fast way to make a bunch of them for lunch is to do a sheet pan roast. So easy, so yummy! Make extra so you can have veggies for lunch and dinner for a few days.
Chelsea says
Roasted veggies are so good!
Mom’s been there 15 or 16 months? She loves it. There are definitely hard or sad days but she gets to help a lot of good boys and girls. She also enjoys naming cats that come in. My dad goes in and volunteers.
They just brought home a doggo from there named Stella who I’m told is very velvety and good. Their three kitties and other doggo Tinkerbell are warming up to her. People dump a lot of animals, and two of their kitties were ones that they found in the woods and started taking care of. My dad is a softie. They leave out food and straw filled doghouses for the feral kitties too.
Karen says
Oh, that’s wonderful! I bet the job is emotionally challenging yet satisfying. Kudos to your mom for helping all those animals!
Rachel Runyan says
LOL Rosie is adorable. She sounds like she has quite the personality! I look forward to hearing more about her as time goes on.
Karen says
She’s sweet. A very different personality than Tabs, but she’s affectionate and loving. 🙂
Anne says
I wish my sweet tooth would let me crave anything other than fruits and chocolate…
Karen says
Fruit is healthy. And chocolate has anti-oxidants!
Kim says
She’s such a petite, pretty girl!! 🙂 I’m loving the coziness of fall, the fact that hockey season is right around the corner, that I’m making good eating and exercise decisions every day, that the house has been cleaner and more organized than usual and that it’s almost Friday. HAHA!
Karen says
How many hockey seasons do you have left, girlfriend? Enjoy them while you still have them! 🙂
Kim says
This year and next. The looming sadness is real!! For the first time ever, I had to miss two of the boys’ soccer games this year (because of school board meetings) and I’ve already vowed that I’ll be missing meetings before hockey if there’s a conflict! It’s like the final countdown! 🙂
MJ says
I’m glad to see another kitty in the pictures here. At first I thought they were old pictures of Tabs, who I miss. Rosie holds a very keen resemblance to him and I hope she taking up a little bit of that empty space in your hearts. I have been so busy, but I got caught up on a lot of info with this post. By the way, my signature fragrance is Coco Mademoiselle. I wear it just about every day and so many people want to know what I wearing. To me, thats the best barometer of a perfect fragrance for a person.
Karen says
She does look like him sometimes… I see it, too. In real life she is much smaller than he was. And dare I say even a little bossier? LOL!
I still think of Tabs and miss him every day, but it’s nice to have another kitty to give my love to.
Sarah Lowes says
What lovely big eyes Pretty Girl Rosie has!
My fave fragrances du jour are: Jo Malone Intense Cologne Rose and Oud, Liz Earle Fragrance 100 ( a bit summery for now, really)
Mel. B. says
Love your new cat!!! She looks like she is smiling in the last photo. Tabs would be proud of your new addition to the family. ?
Tatiana says
I love the photo of Rosie on the windowsill. The sunlight shows off her fur coat in all its glory. I’m trying to figure out what she might be saying to you at that moment. While she will never be Tabs, I hope she fills a place in your heart.
Tarryn B says
That little face of hers! What a cutie!
