1. The smell of Coppertone Waterbabies
To quote master wordsmith Nelly, “It’s getting hot in hurr.”
Today was 89 degrees! Last week it was 25 degrees cooler, but this week it’s starting to feel a lot like summer. I try to take Connor out nice and early to wear her little booty out, but before we go, I slather this sunscreen all over her and myself. This stuff always makes me think of summer and long lazy days at the beach. I love it.
2. Turn and learn
I mentioned this Ted Talk in the last Saturday Surfing, but if you missed it, please watch it now. Or whenever you can. I think it’s so helpful!
The gist of it is to think of the things in your life that you’d like to change as opportunities to learn. Like, for example, if you’re bad at time management (LIKE ME!!!), instead of thinking, “I must be broken. I’m so bad at time management. There’s for sure something wrong with me,” think of it instead as a chance for you to learn some of the myriad of helpful time management tips and skills that are out there. (And no, you are not broken.) Eventually, you’ll hit on a tip or technique that works for you and helps you get better.
3. MAC Studio Fix mixed with MAC Strobe Cream
Why do I always try to reinvent the wheel when this combo is such an oldie but a goodie?
I’ve been sheering it out, so it’s more Strobe Cream and less Studio Fix Foundation, but it’s still just enough to give me a little bit of even-ness and a lot of glow.
4. Ayesha’s Home Kitchen on Food Network
Don’t know if you’re watching the basketball ? playoffs right now, but the Warriors are in it (yay, Bay Area!), and one of the players, Stephen Curry, is married to Ayesha Curry, the young lady who hosts this show.
She’s absolutely adorable, and so are her daughters. I haven’t tried any of her recipes yet, but I’m definitely going to, maybe as soon as this weekend.
I like that she takes shortcuts. Like, sometimes she’ll use boxed cake mix or a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, and she’ll jooj them up.
5. Painting
Oh, my gosh! We’re starting our home renovations soon, and I know that painting is usually one of the steps people do toward the end of whatever they’re doing, but I’ve been having a good time researching paint colors for our place.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to use this color palette I found on a design blog called Maison Pax.
For Connor’s room, I’m thinking of doing one of these blush shades. Maybe Behr Stolen Kisses. Haven’t decided yet.
Anyway, I’m excited about ?️ paint! Who am I?!
What are some things you’ve been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

I’m not the only one who loves the smell of Water Babies! It’s so nostalgic! Reminds me of summers at the lake. I used to wear it as my normal daily sunscreen as an adult but I was like… this isn’t a sexy smell ?
I have a massive ear infection because my body cannot give me a break so I love antibiotics and prednisone today! And naps with the cat. Oh and I got some really cute glasses from Zenni Optical a few weeks ago and I love them.
Karen says
Fun fact! Zenni Optical is based out of Novato, where I live. 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about the infection. How’s your leg doing, by the way?

Oof, it is ridiculously hot today. Apparently it was 86 here in Oakland. I wonder if we’re in for a brutally hot summer or if this is the usual early heat wave after which Oakland has a chilly 60-degree summer again.
The cat is melted into a puddle in the middle of the floor, and I can hear neighbors swimming in the (entirely unheated) pool.
Karen says
SO HOT. I’m assuming that this was a teaser?! If not I will need to have a Beyonce fan permanently within my vicinity. 🙂

Love the smell of copper tone! Such a summer scent. I was just thinking that as I was slathering it on last weekend for a short little hike. Thanks for the SF and strobe cream tip. I’ve been using that combo since I ran out of Face and Body. It’s awesome. I wouldn’t have thought of that on my own.

That’s terrific about the warm weather. We had a couple of days of sun and mid 60s but we’re back under 50 again today (with rain). Still, it could always be worse! 🙂 I’m loving Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask. It’s so good and hydrating, particularly when layered over (the extremely drying) retinol.

Painting is possibly my least favourite part of renovations, but to be fair renovation is my least favourite part of the renovation… I just can´t stand the work in progress.

I’m finally back visiting my hometown (The City). I’ve never tried Coppertone. I’m addicted to this one Neutrogena stick sunscreen for my body (looks like a massive deodorant) and for my face is that Biore water essence.
Loved the Curry shoutout. My son is addicted to b-ball and knows all things Warriors. It annoys him when I call Steph “Ayesha’s husband”. I heard they are hs sweethearts.
Quick question- I’m a nc45. I’m trying to streamline my makeup to my HG items. Need a new pinky peach blush (was using Blossom by Arbonne but it just hit pan).
If you have one NARS blush, what would it be? I’m torn between Outlaw, Amour, and Dolce Vita (sticking to Sephora selection since I have a gift card).

I saw the Coppertone photo in my email and immediately thought to myself, “I wonder if Coppertone still smells the same?” Clearly from all the comments, it must.
I hate this hot weather. I am dreading July, August and September. I am dreading more fires. I feel like we jumped from mostly winter to full on summer without a nice prolonged spring. Sigh. Not to mention I just found out the gym I’m working out in is NOT air conditioned. Don’t know if I’m gonna be able to stick with my trainer if the gym has no A/C.
Doesn’t surprise me that you like paint. It’s just liquid makeup for your house. You are so creative with makeup, it makes sense that the creativity and love of colors can spill into other parts of your life. I love paint and crayons and pastels. When I first started wearing more makeup it was the displays of colorful eyeshadows that drew me in. It kept thinking it was like pastels for my face.

Pantene Pro V Shampoo & Conditioner. Never tried and now I know why it’s highly rated.
How I Met Your Mother. I’m rewatching on Hulu and rediscovering why I loved it but I’m not to the disappointing season yet!
Black Jelly Beans
Tortellini
ABH Subculture. I have the OG palette/first launch and the new formula I picked up at TJ Maxx. Yup I’m that crazy. Love both!!
