1. Finding weird, random presents in my purse
Like this ? lemon ?, which mysteriously appeared in my Kate Spade this morning.
2. Weezer’s cover of Africa
I’ve been driving around town a little more than usual this week, and every time I’ve turned on the radio in the car, this song has been playing.
I freakin’ love it! I hear it more now than I heard the O.G. version in the ’80s, LOL.
3. This water bottle
Otherwise known as “My Terrific Temperature-Trusting Carafe.” It’s by a company called Swell, and it keeps drinks hot or cold for a reeeeeeeeeally long time. Easily all day.
I put some TJ’s pink lemonade in it last Saturday (side note: their pink lemonade is the best! Not too sweet, and it’s very lemony.), and it stayed ice cold for nine hours.
4. Baked oatmeal
SO delish. I know it ain’t pretty in this pic, but I was hungry and couldn’t wait to dig in.
I made it last night and riffed off of this recipe using fruit I had on hand (pears, apples and strawberries), and when it came out of the oven it smelled like a fruit cobbler…so I cut off a piece and ate it with ice cream!
This morning I warmed another piece up in the microwave, then added a big splash and a half of vanilla protein (I like this one I get from Costco). Connor likes hers with almond milk.
After we finish this pan, I’m gonna make another with blueberry and peaches.
5. Stretching for 10 minutes in the morning
I’ve been doing this all week, and I feel like an entirely new girl. It really makes a difference.
What have been you loving lately? (It doesn’t have to be five things!)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Boo i’ve been watching that youtube video of different stretches for knots in the neck and it’s been wonderful. In the last year I’ve been getting so much shoulder tightness and stiffness – side sleeping isn’t helping but i can’t avoid it lolz. Thank you for sharing. DdR @ddelriobud

I feel you, girl! Did you get a massage ball for your back? I’ve been using a tennis ball every night for a while now and it makes a huge difference.

I’ve been loving all the brands expanding their shade ranges! Very fair and deep, all of the sudden my options have increased tenfold! Also that the kids have been loving pumpkin muffins giving me an excuse to make them twice recently. ? They accommodate healthier modifications well too so the recent batch I did 2/3 white whole wheat flour and less sugar and you really couldn’t tell the difference. I also love my Bubba cup, it doesn’t keep beverages hot and cold quite as long as yours, but still does surprisingly well considering it has an open lid.

Hi Nicole,
Yes! It’s so great to have lots of foundation options. Such a different world these days!
And I can’t believe you’re already into the pumpkin groove. I need at least one more month of summer fruit/veggies!

Happy Friday!!
About the Weezer song. I love Weezer and loathe the original Africa. So much so that one of the boys would crank it whenever it came on the radio and smirk (I know, I’m doing a great parenting job – sigh). But, the last time he did it, it was the Weezer version and I was kinda digging it. I won’t tell him because he won’t have the joy of bugging me but, I’m with you. Funnily enough, he said he vastly preferred the original. But, he also loves Old Time Rock and Roll and Mony Mony, so you have to take that into consideration. HAHA! PS I’d love to find a lemon in my purse. 🙂
Top thing I’ve been loving is our beautiful summer. Can’t remember the last time we’ve had such warm, dry weather. People complain about the heat and humidity and I always remind them how long it’s been since we’ve had such a great summer. And, also, remember the winters before you complain about the heat! 🙂

Happy Friday!!!
Re: Weezer. Have you heard the Toto cover they did of Rosanna? GIRL. It’s so good! I mean, it’s auto-tuned to death, but still good.
Kim says
I have NOT. I’ll definitely check it out. I am not a Toto fan but Weezer makes everything better. 🙂

Sometimes I think we’re twinning. I’ve been jammin to the same tune and oatmeal.
1. Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Instant Oatmeal! GUUURL. This is the shit, it’s got seeds in too and it’s super easy to customize. You gotta try it.
2. Miltons Cauliflower pizza from Costco. HOLY CRAP it’s tasty and super filling. Making pizza a touch healthier.
3. Fresh’s Petal balm, I forgot I had it. It’s been my go too light pink/nude for a bit now.
4. Skinny Dipping! I’m lucky enough to have a pretty private backyard and a pool. I feel so light and free.
5. Aveda’s Dry Remedy! I love having a daily dry oil for my hair.

It might not look that way, but the baked oatmeal sure sounds delicious. I have been working from home last week, due to day care closed, and I loved impromptu cuddling sessions with the kids, the fact that our old house (it was build in 1914) has thick walls and stayed cool in the heatwave (air con isn’t a thing here in Germany, at least not in private properties) and eating lots of water melon!

I’m making that baked oatmeal dish right now as I type! 10 more min in the oven until I drive in. (even though it is almost noon here!) I love how versatile it is and that it could last me a few days. With my oldest starting Kindergarten I hope it’ll make mornings a bit easier! My only concern is it will be too sweet. I cut down on the honey so we’ll see!

That baked oatmeal looks delicious. I’ll have to try it.
Things I’m loving lately:
1. My quick-heating heating pad. My back injury has really been acting up, sending electric tingles through my body. This thing has been saving my life the last few days.
2. Too Faced 20th anniversary Metallic Sparkle Lipstick in TF20. O-M-G!!! It’s my dream fuchsia lipstick come true. I love it so much I ordered a couple of the reds from the collection.
3. Duo- and multi-chrome lipglosses. It’s been too hot to carry around bullet lipsticks, and I was getting tired of liquid ones. Fenty Iridescent Lip Luminizer Trio In Summer Daze and Summer Nights and NARS Full Vinyl Lip Lacquers (I have Abruzzo, Everglades, and Cape Town) are my favorites right now. Today at Ulta, I bought the NYX DUO Chromatic Lip Gloss in Crushing It and Day Club. I can’t wait to wear them.
4. The acrylic skull earrings from Earthcharms on Etsy. I have white, black, blue, red glitter, and silver mirror. They kick ass.
5. Tacos. Because they’re tacos.

I just saw Weezer in concert a few weeks ago and they are incredible live! They did Africa as part of their set, and I couldn’t get that dang song out of my head all day the next day! Haha but I have to say, it’s hard not to like their version!
