One of my favorite holiday memories is from a trip El Hub and I took to visit his family on Oahu. It was a couple days after Christmas at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, the largest open-air shopping center in the world. Weather-wise, it was a typical December day in Hawai’i Nei, sunny, about 80 degrees with light trade winds, and the mall was packed!
I remember how lots of the local kids (and some of the adults) were all bundled up for winter. There were kids in hoodies, thick sweaters, ski hats (the kind with the flaps that go over your ears) and some even wearing Uggs.
LOL! I guess wherever you are, even in the tropics, winter will find you.
Heck, it always finds me, as do winter skin trubs. Even with our mild seasonal swings out here in the Bay Area, I still wrestle with winter skin challenges every year, like breakouts, dry skin, flaky skin — the whole shebang.
If your face needs some babying this winter, you’ll definitely want to enter today’s Neutrogena gift basket giveaway. The basket is brimming with products to soothe and repair fussy winter skin.

This weekend, we basically have devoted to our sick cat Karma. We searched for more healthy food for him this morning and then went to visit him at the hospital. As a cat owner, you can relate to how difficult it is to watch your cat get sick. What I am saying is that I could use some good news in the form of winning this prize!

I am definitely struggling with seasonal skin changes this winter. My chest is breaking out and I can’t figure out what is causing it. I’m wondering if taking my showers with very hot water could be causing this? Or maybe spraying perfume on my décolletage?

Murad Clarifying Cleanser is my go to cleanser.
For me, a humidifier when the weather gets drier is key.

I use vegetable glycerin to take my makeup off. I also heard grapeseed oil was a great makeup remover.
Tried badger balm for my dry lips, and it tastes like castor oil.

I cut my hair a week after my November wedding 🙂
Love your giveaways!
I haven’t gotten a haircut in 3 or 4 years. The last haircut I got was a disaster so I’ve been afraid to trust any hairdresser.
Hello! we moved to vegas 6 months ago, and i told my hairstylist: “i’ll schedule with you every time i come home. i’m not going to anyone else, unless we move super duper far away.” it’s not as often as i’d like, but i’ve been home 3 times since we moved. and each time, i’ve made an appointment with my girl! 🙂
My favorite winter remedy for hands and feet is slathering them with thick creams or just aquaphor/vaseline if I have no other option, and then letting it soak in overnight by sleeping in cotton socks and gloves, which keep the sheets and anything else I touch goop-free
I just had a haircut earlier this month. 🙂
I like the socks comment… because I’ve just finished knitting my first pair of socks and they are so comfy and cozy! 🙂
Any tips for winter lips? I’m really getting sick of applying chap stick every 5.2 seconds.
Hey Karen,
Do you change up your Christmas tree or does it look the same from year to year? We didn’t put up a Christmas tree this year and I’m kinda sad. But hey, plenty of Christmas trees around town so no biggie! 🙂
My last haircut was several months ago and my hair is a bit of a disaster. I really need to make an appointment and get it taken care of before it starts scaring small children.

My skin hates cold New England weather.
These baskets are amazing! Hope I win one!
When my skin is super dry, the best moisturizer is 50/50 mix of olive and coconut oils. It is also great as an eye makeup remover.
Short of dumping a bottle of olive oil on my head, I just can’t get enough moisture in to my skin this time of year. This basket looks amazing–thanks!
Happy Holidays!
