Would you rock a half-shaved head?

Cassie and Rihanna did it…

Are you next? 🙂

PROS: Requires half as much product, easier to head bang, takes half the time to do
CONS: Unbalanced ponytails, coworkers might look at you funny, can’t wear headbands well

Would you rock a half-shaved head?

I’d totally shave half of my head. I’ve been wanting to do it since I was in grade school but attending a private Catholic all-girls school in my conservative country, the Philippines, would get me kicked out. The only dilemma now is that I don’t think my husband would approve. He already thinks my wardrobe is pretty over the top and then to add my shaved head – umm.. probably not a good idea. It might send him or him sending me to the loony bin!:) I love it though!

      Hi Roxy,

If you can own the hairstyle then I vote for rockin’ the half-shaved head. Part of the challenge is having the right wardrobe to pull it off… you’re already half way there!

Oh, wow! You’re a brave girl. I can imagine that it’s not the easiest haircut to grow out…

I “Rocked” a half-shaved head back in the 80’s for 5 years. It was my absolute favorite hair style. Everywhere I went people asked me “How do you get your hair to go like that?” Boy did it bring back memories when I started to see this trend re-emerge. For all of you out there who are on the fence I say GO FOR IT. You only live once.

I think it looks pretty rad on Cassie and Rihanna, but my hair is my security blanket. Besides, my conservative hispanic family would think I went nuts haha.

      Hi Giselle,

LOL, my hair is my security blanket, too. Plus, it keeps me warm! I cut it into a bob once, and I swear I was wearing wooly scarves around my neck 24/7.

no way. It’s straight up fug. I’ve had short hair and hated it. It’s way too much to maintain and it’s just not me. This crap is on another level, though. It’s just trying way to hard.

I would do it, but I feel like maybe I’m too old to rock that look at 32. Also, my husband has been pretty patient with all my different looks, but I’m not sure he would care for this one! And finally, it would be a bitch to grow out!

I have medium/short, straight hair with straight bangs. I always clip up one side of my hair, so why not cut it!
I’m a hip hop dancer and there’s so many dancers out there with crazy hair:))
I always like to be different and unique, no one at my school has a half shaved head:)

I shaved mine back in may and I toootally love it. I don’t like it when it’s shaved too close to the scalp though as it can look a little harsh, but as I am unexperienced at shaving then that seems the only way to get it how I like it (so shaving it all off, letting it grow a little being content, then re-doing the whole cycle).
When I first did it my mum went absolutely ape shit and cried cause she’d told me I couldn’t do it.. but oh well… ahaha 🙂 I LOVE IT. I am dreading growing it out though.

My head is shaved on the right side. I did it 2 months ago and I love it. I’m a Hair stylest so it’s easy for me to take care of and keep up with. I think it looks great on most girls so I say go for it!

My head is half shaved as we speak. It’s really a scary thought when I decide to grow it out because it will be quite awkward and half my head will be long than the other. But I love this haircut and I get many compliments at school. I think anyone should do it. My boyfriend shaved both sides of his head and walking together we look a bit like looneys. Haha

i got my head shaved back in june 2010, it is a great look but i have seen some peopel who went abit far and shaved way to much of it off, i too think that if its soo close to the scalp it will look slightly manly, im growing it out for prom and at the moment its at shoulder length it is a bit of a pain when tying my hair up but when down you would never notice! i cant wait till after prom to get it redone!

i have been wanting to cut my hair for awhile now because its just getting long and mellowing my personality out, i saw the half shave thing and want to go for it, but im afraid i cnt pull it off, but i have a theory that if i do it, it will help me expand my style more AFTER i get it..i know we only live young once and i can deal wit the bitching from the fam, but the grow out process doesnt sound so fun, what should i doo?!?!?!?!?

Well I got my hair half shaved some time ago.
Here is some advice to know if it could fit you…
    1. To look good and be attractive with a half shaved head you need to be confident. To pull out any radical haircut you MUST be confident and calm, and dont care a lot about bad opinions. There is always people judging guys and girls with sidecuts.
    2. You must also remember that some people will look at you in a diferent way, not necesarily bad.

Sorry for my awful english, im from Uruguay.

PS: got my sidecut at the age of 11. Did it myself and loved it!

i had a half shaved head in high school but it wasnt the left or right side, i had the bottom half done. it was pretty hot, the rest of my hair was mid back length, sometimes copper, and sometimes black with blue streaks. my hair was the only fem part about me, as i was a cross-dresser until senior year.
to all the teenagers asking if they should go with a wild hairstyle: do it and stop worrying about what everyone else will say already. just do it!
an abnormally high number of girls in my hometown had shaved heads (considering my high school only had averaged 100 kids per class) and when it came time to grow it out, they just did it. it took a lot of gel and hairclips and bobbypins-making-twisty-knot-things for the first few months, but they got through it without any stress. its hair. it grows. (6 inches per year, on average). so when it comes time to grow it past an inch, just cut the longer hair bit by bit til it matches, or just shave it all.
    DO IT.
    🙂
