Easy Cheesy Cheddar Garlic Biscuits (GLUTEN-FREE!)

You’ll love these tender gluten-free cheddar garlic biscuits!

To ensure that this post is kindasorta makeup related…here I am wearing the new Urban Decay Boogie palette and eating a gluten-free cheddar garlic biscuit! 😁

I made these biscuits for Thanksgiving, and they were the best — THE BEST — thing on the menu. Sliced ’em open and served them with maple glazed ham slices (BOOM!), but they’re just as delicious with a salad, soup, chili, clam chowder, etc.

In other words, all the things. 🤗

YUM!

First off, they’re easy to make, and there isn’t any complicated rolling out or chilling of dough. Even though this particular batch is gluten-free, you could just as easily make them with gluten-full all-purpose flour.

The full recipe is below, but here’s a quick rundown…

Before we start, you gotta gather the ingredients. The list is short and sweet, just like my Coycoy!

Start your prep!

First, measure out your dry ingredients, and whisk them in a bowl.

Whisk away…

Next, shred the cheddar cheese. THIS IS KEY! The pre-shredded stuff in a bag won’t melt as well.

Aw, you’re so cheesy!

While you’re at it, prep the wet ingredients.

The start of something good!

Now, it’s time to make the dough! Begin by adding the cheese to the dry ingredient bowl; toss the shreds in the flour to coat them thoroughly.

All up in the mix

Then, add the wet ingredients.

Like I said, it ain’t diet food…

Mix the dough until it barely comes together, and try your best to avoid over-mixing; otherwise, you’ll end up with a tough biscuit. It’ll look and feel a little dry, which is totally OK.

Don’t stress if your dough looks a little crumbly!

Form the dough into 12 biscuits, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper into an oven that’s been preheated to 425F. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the tops of the biscuits look golden.

About to do the damn thing…

While the biscuits are baking, make your butter topping.

TOPPING!

When the biscuits are done, right after you take them out of the oven, immediately spoon the melted butter on the tops of the biscuits.

Devour heartily! 😋

And you’re done! Let’s eat!

Easy Cheesy Cheddar Garlic Biscuits (GLUTEN-FREE!)

DESCRIPTION
These cheesy garlic biscuits melt in your mouth, and, full disclosure, you’ll have a hard time eating just one! The dough quickly comes together and doesn’t require any complicated kneading, so you can easily mix a batch to serve for lunch, dinner or even breakfast. They’re delicious as is, or served with sliced ham (YUM), chili or clam chowder.

  • Prep time: 25 minutes
  • Bake time: 12 minutes
  • Total time: 37
  • Yield: 12 biscuits

BISCUIT DRY INGREDIENTS:

  • 10 ounces (2 cups) gluten-free 1-to-1 flour (I like Cup4Cup Multipurpose Flour)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces (1 ½ cups) freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese (don’t use bagged and pre-shredded cheese; it doesn’t melt as well)

BISCUIT WET INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup full-fat sour cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted melted butter

TOPPING:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted melted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed, dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Measure out your dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, sugar and salt) in a large bowl, then whisk together.
  4. Add shredded cheese into the bowl, and then evenly coat the cheese by tossing it with the dry ingredient mix.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together sour cream and milk, add to dry ingredients. Pour melted butter into the dry ingredients, too.
  6. Mix until just combined. The batter will look lumpy, which is totally fine. Whatever you do, don’t overmix the dough! (You’ll end up with a tough biscuit).
  7. Use a greased ¼ measuring cup to scoop the dough onto the lined baking sheet into 12 biscuits, about 1 ½ inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the biscuits are golden.
  9. Make the topping while the biscuits bake by whisking the melted butter, crushed parsley and garlic powder together.
  10. When the biscuits are done, immediately brush the tops with the butter topping. Serve warm or at room temperature.
  11. Unbutton your jeans and enjoy!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

They look delish and remind me of the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits of which I could eat 7,000. 🙂 I’m passing your recipe on to my GF friend. Thanks! And happy Friday!

You’re welcome! I hope your GF friend likes them. Happy Friday and P.S., I’m about to bust into a new pan of (you guessed it) Chanel Malice Blush. *heart flutters*

Oooooh! Mine is so lonely in the pan since I almost never have occasion to be mask-free and wear it. But it makes me so happy on those few occasions I can! I busted out the Givenchy orange shadow quad on Sunday and I think it was a bit more flattering than I remember. It’s just tough to have any kind of shadow look decent on my crepey lids. And, of course, I was totally paranoid that the orange would be over-the-top and my fellow church and brunchers would be like “have you lost your mind?”. HAHA! No one noticed so that was a win for me. 🙂

I love it; you even have the “cooler than you” facial expression from Empire Records (the exact color scheme of the 1990s palette, as pointed out by Kat and Haley on BeautyNews! lol).

Yum! I’ve never had the famous Red Lobster biscuits but these sound so good! Garlic makes my stomach feel like it’s eating itself, so I’ll probably get rid of that, but I might try these. I also just found a shortbread recipe I really want to try.

It will change the flavor profile but I bet it would still taste good (you can’t go wrong with cheese, butter and sour cream). Can you send the shortbread recipe? I need one!

I’m not a fan of floral flavors, so I’ll probably use raspberry jam or something, but it looks so good!

I used my grater to shred frozen butter for a streusel and it worked really well, so I bet shredding the frozen dough gives the cookies a really good texture.

What an interesting technique! It seems like a lot of work so kudos to you for giving it a go. I would love to know how it turns out.

These biscuits sound delicious! I have some frozen butternut squash soup I was going to defrost as dinner next week to help with the busyness leading up to Christmas, so I may have to whip up a batch of these to go with it!

Made these last night to go w seafood stew. Super yum and easy! Quite indulgent so only on occasion but I’ll not go back to the box😊. I did substitute Pre- shredded cheese since that’s what I had but next time I’ll do it proper.
Thank you so much( kisses fingers and makes mwah sound)
    Happy New Year✨

This sounds great. We are fine with gluten, though, so wondering if I could use regular flour instead.
